Which is better/more useful?

ANYWAYS! I am unsure of how resistances on shields work, e.g. Fire Resist on Volcanic Plate Shield, how does that work! When you shield, you receive less damage or something?

I have the Volcanic Plate

I have the Volcanic Plate Shield and I believe that resistances work by reducing the chance of getting that specific status effect, but it does not reduce the damage/duration of the status effect (someone correct me if this is wrong).

I have heard the same, Geass

And from my experience that sounds correct. Less chance of getting hit by the status effect is all you are getting, and I believe they do stack. I think shield resists apply like armor resists, unlike the defenses, but I'm really not sure on that one, as my shield has none.

Ironmight is worse.

But looks way cooler.

It was in one of the patch note threads

Something about resistance on shields diminishing a status that's in an attack. So i.e. if a Slag Walker's attack was going to inflict Fire on you, the shield would reduce that or so.
Of course, overall, only if the shield is raised.

Mjohnson's post

"When defending with a shield, most damage will hit your shield first (with the exception of status condition damage such as being on fire). Your shield defenses will dull the attack, and then damage is applied to your shield's health. Any status conditions in the attack will also damage your shield's health, but being resistant to a status condition will either reduce or completely eliminate any damage from that condition. On the flip side, if a shield is vulnerable to a status condition, it could be taking more damage than normal when hit by an attack causing the condition."

So there you have it.

Ironmight plate shield

I think you should choose ironmight shield since it fits in with a person being a more good knight. The volcanic plate shield looks good but it looks like it would be more for bad knights so if you are a good knight you should choose ironmight plate shield.
