So the new UI was released yesterday. Some like it, some don't, it's a mixed bag of opinions. I got a bag too, it's full of suggestions on how to improve the UI.
-Divide the HP bar pips by 5. This makes it much easier to count and keep track of your health. Instead of putting spacing, I thought of this: http://i.imgur.com/3PUUKCp.png
-Extend the party list to the right. Most longer names are cut off.
-Move the portrait's camera up a bit. I don't want to see half of anyone's armor, I want to see their heads AND the accessories on them. In my portrait, you can't see my Vertical Vents properly but I got half of my armor. Also, it tends to glitch up and not show accessories.
-Personal colors on the player icons. The idea to show friends and guildies is good, but there are no personal colors anywhere. How do we fix that? By putting a circle around the icon with the personal color. Kinda like this: http://i.imgur.com/m82nJpA.png
-An option to disable screen shake, the weapon wheel, and the screen showing monster information. The first thing is irritating to some people (I'm fine with it) and the other two just clutter up the screen. Veteran players don't need the monster screen, they know which type of damage they deal and which one they're weak to. The weapon wheel looks cool but doesn't really have a use. There could be a way to fix it...
-Put the weapon wheel somewhere else and make it permanent, but small. This way, it doesn't annoy and block your view, but it's there anyway. If you just made new loadouts and you don't really remember which weapons are on which exact weapon slots, this can really help. But only if it's permanent.
-Move the health and shield bars and the heat display thing to the bottom of the screen, group them together with the item belt, and DON'T make the shield bar grow larger when you use your shield. Should look like this: http://i.imgur.com/DAAAFI1.png Also includes the new weapon wheel. Proportions are a bit weird but it's just a sketch.
-Not really related to the UI but it's in the same patch: Make vitapods droppable again. I don't know why this was put in. Probably to prevent newbies from dropping vitapods on full health only to lose some when they get it back. However, you know you've implented a UI lock. Which is supposed to prevent things like this. Want to leave a party and you're the only one with a vitapod? Too bad, you can't drop it. Want to give the vitapod to someone with lower max health than you? No chance. It's a really silly change.
Just my thoughts. The new UI is far from perfect as it is now and with these changes, it would be closer to perfect.
Or we could do this.
