69 obviously represents the yin-yang symbol. In all evil, there is some good. In all good, there is some evil. In the eternal struggle between good and evil, there is balance.
Where <3 means "Love", <69 means "A balance between love and hate", which is a much more realistic emotion, and also much more mature. I commend Njthug for his zen-ish restraint and maturity.
