So confused as to what it means when you're trying to craft armor but it says you need a special armor of like a "Dusker Coat (Lv 5+)". I have a Dusker Coat but that didn't help. What does the +5 mean???

The 5+ means your Dusker Coat needs to be of Heat Level 5 or higher. You can see what Heat Level it currently is at by hovering your mouse over the item in your Arsenal.
To craft a 4* item from a 3* item, the Heat Level needs to be 5 or higher.
To craft a 5* item from a 4* item, the Heat Level has to be 10 (max).

Unless it's a heart pendant or combat module, since trinkets never go up in level.
5+ means the Heat level of the armor. You should notice your equipment leveling up from the Heat you collect during your runs in the Clockworks. Once it reaches level 5, you can craft your 4* equipment. And so as not to surprise you, when you're trying to craft 5* it has to be Heat level 10.
If you feel Heating equipment takes too long, you may want to look into a Heat Amplifier to speed things up, but keep in mind that those cost CE. It's usually better to farm the boss levels, since they provide a lot of Heat, as well as Crowns and Tokens.
