Hi,
I was just fooling around and comparing my heat 1 Shadow Driver to Heat 10 Sentenza.
Both are shadow weapons, and Sentenza has slightly higher damage shown compared to the Shadow Driver.

But when I tried it on the Jelly bag in guild arena, I found out that Shadow Driver is doing 184 damage, and Sentenza is just 150.
Why this difference?

If any difference, the Sentenza should be higher. But instead its a fair bit lower. That`s like 20% difference.
Is it a bug in this case, or all those indicators useless?
I noticed that Faust attack speed is shown a lot more than Avenger, even though they are pretty much the same. But the wiki mentions that its displayed incorrectly. Is this another such case, or are they all useless?

The Shadow Driver is a 2-shot weapon. The Sentenza is a 6-shot weapon. Total weapon damage is still greater. If anything, the Sentenza does way more damage than the Shadow Driver.

Edit : I think if you compared it in the case of damage per second, which is the most likely displayed indicator, Sentenza still wins over Shadow Driver.

For the Avenger/Faust... I agree the speed comparison is way off, but when I compared the charge time, Faust took 3 seconds with CTR med (lvl 10) while Avenger took 2 seconds with CTR med (lvl 10)...

agree; also, statistics bars are notoriously inaccurate

Both are shadow weapons, and Sentenza has slightly higher damage shown compared to the Shadow Driver.

Zaffy-Laffy is right, but let me add that the statistics bars on weapons are notoriously inaccurate. For example, Gran Faust displays as much faster than Divine Avenger, but if anything it's much slower. It's best just to ignore the statistics bars, and look on the wiki for real damage data.

If its counting 2 hits vs 6

If its counting 2 hits vs 6 hits, then the difference is even more.
Because the damage indicators are extremly close.

But it its 2 hits vs 6, then that would mean 368 vs 900?
Now the difference isn't just 20%, but rather about 120%.

depends on how you want to measure

It depends on what you want to measure: damage per shot (Shadow Driver wins), damage per clip (Sentenza wins), damage per second (Sentenza wins...?), etc. You can do the same comparisons for charge attacks, etc.

By the way, this comparison is unfair, in that Shadow Driver is only 4-star. Comparing Umbra Driver to Sentenza is more useful. It's also more interesting, because the damage output of an alchemer varies greatly with the skill of the player. Handled by a novice, an Umbra Driver outputs less damage than Sentenza. Handled by an expert, Umbra Driver puts out more damage than Sentenza.

Never ever take damage and speed bars seriously.

One word

Ricochets.

Hand me an Umbra Driver, show me a bunch of jellies and I'll put that Sentenza of yours to shame.

Its not really about the 2

Its not really about the 2 guns.
Its about the indicators.
What do they imply? The damage per hit? The damage per reload? The damage per second?

Yes, I was trying to see whats better, but that`s not really why I made this topic. Till now I was paying attention to those bards on the indicator levels.
Now, I`m thinking if its even worth checking them anymore.

For weapons, I can check the wiki damage, but what about armors? If bars are useless, what exactly do I have to go on so I choose the best equip?

in contrast, armor bars are not useless

The conventional wisdom is that armor bars are not useless. There is a well-behaved, simple relationship between the bars on armor and the bars that display your protection summary in your character window. Furthermore, it appears that longer bars always mean that you take less damage from monsters. On the other hand, there seems to be some effect of diminishing returns. There have been detailed studies of this effect. Now that we have health bars in the UI, there is a new study underway (see the Wiki Editors forum) to more precisely quantify armor protection.
