I'm curious as to what has changed, and rather than read over medicore updates that are over-exaggerated by the devs--I figured I would ask the players. Are you enjoying SK right now? If you used to play near the beginning, why do you continue to play?

I enjoyed Spiral Knights

I loved it when I came back last month, and was waiting for the exciting battle sprite update with the new swarm monsters.

Then OOO throws a curveball, making this uncalled-for UI update that completely throws me off from the game and makes me discouraged from continuing any further. I really hope they either revert or make another overhaul of the current one if they REALLY have to change it (Which I don't see why)

Hold off for now.

There really isn't much exciting going on for the time being, but do swing by when the Battle Sprites arrive. It's gonna be the next big thing.

I stopped playing 4 monthes

I stopped playing 4 monthes and really enjoyed all the past/recent changes so far. I guess one simple reason you should come back is that you haven't played for a year. Surely if you liked the game before, you'll like it now too; and just the fact that you think about joining back proves that there's still some part of you that want to play this game. Besides if you don't like the change, you can just stop playing again! :D

Asking the players on the forums if they're angry is like asking an alcoholic if he wants a beer.

You shouldn't, just wait for the battle sprites and maybe you will have a good reason.

@Neo

Forumers are angry right now, opinions are bias. The reason I keep playing is that I have hope for OOO, and that they'll right all their wrongs. But, admittedly it's a small hope.

Being an American made FREE

Being an American made FREE game, you'll see a ton of people with a sense of entitlement. Everything should be perfect as far as they see it regardless if they spend money on it or not. Know who else wanted things done the way he saw it? Hitler! Lol.
Thank God the developers don't listen to the community. This game is fun.

My usual reason for playing is to kill off polaris users, but I switched it to killing off people who complain about the new UI (which is pretty nice btw).
Something about people saying they have no idea where their health bar is when it doesnt move and gigantic at the top of the screen just makes me want to teleport them back to the locker room with a bullet to the face.

The game doesn't get redundant as long as you don't play longer then the mist you have. Just my two cents.

I doubt Hitler cared about

I doubt Hitler cared about free games.

But regardless of weather its free or not, people spend their time in this game. They ARE entitled to get a good experience.
If you are a paying player, you contribute your money, if you are free player, you contribute yourself.
Its as simple as that.

The game isn't free because the developers wants people to enjoy a free game. Well, that could be part of the reason, but it surely isnt the main reason.
The game is free because they can attract a lot more people, than they would if it wasent. And a MMO without players is never going to sell.
So in short, its free because they make more money from the game if its free. If they were to kick out all the free players, I can assure you the population would drop. Paying people who buy CE, etc and sell them for crowns to the free player population, wont be able to do so freely anymore and soon enough the game would die.

So yea, someone who puts in hours in this free games and supports the game with his time is just as entitled to a good experience as is the player who barely plays, and just pays for everything in real currency.

And even if it wasent the case, thinking that you need to give out money in order to voice your opinion in these forums is not a very good way of thinking.

RAGE!

Allow me to break this apart.

"I doubt Hitler cared about free games."

-This reference was toward the essence of the complaining. People want things their way regardless of the standards around them. Instead of enjoying what is given to them, they want to bend things to their will. If that isn't possible, they're damn well going to complain about it. America!

"But regardless of weather its free or not, people spend their time in this game. They ARE entitled to get a good experience.
If you are a paying player, you contribute your money, if you are free player, you contribute yourself.
Its as simple as that."

-Wrong. You are getting a service for FREE. FREE. I can type it a third time too, FREE! Spending money to accelerate the process is your perogative. As an American, i am biased against my own country and our growing sense of entitlement to EVERYTHING. The experience here has been very good especially for a free service. Instead of flowing with it and enjoying life, most people's first instinct is to resist and resent. America!

"The game isn't free because the developers wants people to enjoy a free game. Well, that could be part of the reason, but it surely isnt the main reason."

-Do you have any idea what you're talking about?

"The game is free because they can attract a lot more people, than they would if it wasent. And a MMO without players is never going to sell.
So in short, its free because they make more money from the game if its free. If they were to kick out all the free players, I can assure you the population would drop. -You must have taken an advance class in electronic economics to come up with this

"So yea, someone who puts in hours in this free games and supports the game with his time is just as entitled to a good experience as is the player who barely plays, and just pays for everything in real currency. "

-We are all give experiences, and the only thing we can control is how we react to the situation. The reactions by the general population on the forums to the silly little things are just ridiculous.

"And even if it wasent the case, thinking that you need to give out money in order to voice your opinion in these forums is not a very good way of thinking."

-There's that ugly sense of entitlement again. Money for voice might not be right, but it is realistic. That being said, it has nothing to do with the forums - which include people like yourself who i guess think that people who work deserve as much money as the people who don't. Oh wait! WE HAVE THAT IN AMERICA TOO! Thanks Government. Way to somehow work that mindset into SK forums. Now my life is ruined.

In response again to the OP. Neo come back to SK! Just don't come back to the forums :p

Man, just because it's the english forums don't go assuming nationalities or going into xenophobia please. Plus, they are not running a charity, they get our money/time and in exchange give us (or should give) a pleasant experience, if we don't like how things are going we have all the right to express so. And giving the amount of complain in comparison to people expressing likeness to this new UI I would say that you're the one wanting "things to go your way regardless of the standard around it".

If you really want to maintain some biased hate by believing that everyone that disagrees with you do this because of a country that they ain't even from, who am I to tell you to stop? Keep at it, bro. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think I recognize you from a Lockdown damage record thread as a Recon player. Recon got a couple buffs that aren't in the patch notes (probably bugs, but yet to be changed): there's no fade time when upon cloaking, and the charge animation doesn't display to enemies if you do a shield charge. Might be interesting to see how Recon feels now?

Not really a change, but, as others have mentioned, the community is generally one of the highlights.

I've been playing off and on for just under two years now, started late April of '11 with multiple multi-month-long breaks scattered throughout. The people I've met and LD are what keeps me coming back (though now only in the form of one of my alts).

Ya Neo was an awesome Recon.

Ya Neo was an awesome Recon. I <3 good recons. They were so few since the heart trinket update... but because the fade time of their cloak is pretty much nonexistent they've become quite a force.

You shouldn't really ask the

You shouldn't really ask the forum-peoples right now whether they like the game, 'cause the UI update caused quite the uproar. I'm fairly sure OOO noticed it, and it hopefully won't take long before it's solved or things settle down or whatever.

And why should you play this game? Because adventuring with teammates (even better, people you know IRL, that REALLY adds to the fun) is just awesome.
