Right now I'm planning on making another alternate who will use guns and bombs. As of right now this is what I've picked out:
Nameless Hat
Justifier Jacket
Volcanic Plate Shield
Argent Peacemaker
Ash of Agni
To the best of my knowledge it would give me these abilities:
Normal Defense
Piercing Defense
Elemental Defense
Fire and Stun Resist (Shield)
Handgun Attack Speed Increased: MAX
Elemental Damage (Gun/Bomb)
Piercing Damage (Gun)
Fire Damage (Bomb)
Am I wrong in any effect? Would this be good for Tier 3 runs? I don't solo anything but if it would be good for that, I'd like to know.
Both your weapons deal Elemental damage, and one of them is a gun...
You've got a few blind spots: Ashtails (Fire Wolvers) dodge most bullets, resist Elemental (still a net loss on damage even after their Piercing weakness), and are immune to Fire. Plus any Flame Lash Arena will ruin you. (In fact, currently there's a Flame Lash Arena in the Royal Jely Palace stratum.) You're also going to have trouble with Gremlins: they resist Elemental, dodge bullets, and take less damage from Fire status than other monsters according to player testing with Firecrackers.
And Piercing defense is not great. Very, very few monsters deal Piercing damage.
If you have enough Energy to spare, think about getting a Weapon Upgrade so you can add something else to your arsenal. I'm thinking Acheron (for dealing with pesky Gremlins) or one of the Flourish weapons (great for destroying Wolvers and Greavers).
If you really want to go swordless, you can try a the Graviton Vortex for Shadow damage, and cover pure-piercing with a Crystal Bomb evolution or the Callahan (bullet usually travels too fast for Wolvers to dodge). Umbra Driver's bullets might not travel fast enough to catch a dodging Gremlin.
Ash of Agni is great in general, but in groups you might want to also think about the Shivermist Buster. That'll stop (most of) them from dodging your next shot, and also hold them still long enough for your teammates to whomp them with charged attacks. The only issue is that now you've got to worry about Frostifurs (Ice Wolvers).
