Greetings to all! I’m lumaca, GM of crystal tribe and I’d like to present our first guild lockdown tournament.
After an unhappy experience with lockdown tournaments we simply decided to host our own.
Our goal is to create a competitive and friendly tournament that, with a bit of luck, will be remember and reused in future. Now let’s get to the real stuff:

Crystal Tribe Guild Lockdown Tournament! (or in short, Crystal Tournament)

It’s a tier3 guild lockdown friendly tournament, with 9 partecipation slots. The tournament will be composed by 3 starting round robin groups. At the end of the first phase every first, second and third placed guilds will be divided in other 3 RR groups, fighting each for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th,.... place.
This will help us to keep the tournament easy to organize and to follow. For the future editions we will see ;)

Every round of the tournament is composed by 3 matches. In order to confirm every match result a screenshot must be posted on this thread to keep us up to date.
If requested by the opponents, the round will be split in a match played on the EU server, one on the USA and the third will be randomly chosen.
These kind of agreements must be taken directly between the 2 participants, reported here and must be communicated BEFORE the match starts. When possible, an admin will spectate the match.

TOURNAMEN GROUPS AND RESULTS

Rules:

For every kind of problem/issue take a screenshot, this will help us manage the tournament!

1) It’s a friendly guild tournament, so be respectful. Raging, racism, abuse, etc. will be punished with disqualification. Every kind of report involving one of these cases must be followed by a screenshot as evidence.

2) No substitutions: it’s a GUILD league, not a group league, so pick up your guildies and train!

3) No ce/mist revive!
-to ensure that this rule is respected each player must be able to provide a screenshot of the beginning and end of the match showing mist/ce, if requested by the organizators/opponents, it must be posted. We believe that in the name of fair play nobody will try to “evade” this rule ;)

4) none of the Polaris and Hammer line are allowed. Take this as a test, let’s see how the game works this way.

5) after a match arrangement is taken, that game HAVE to be played. in case of a no show the opposing guild will be free to accept a default win (500-0/900-0) or to allow a rematch.
-Connection/lag issues and or leave do not invalidate the match. In any case the match must be ended and the results will be final (including screenshots).
-only the opponent guild can decide to replay the match, in any case the tornament organizators have the right to force a rematch or a confirmation.
-in any case, to confirm any kind of problem or issue screenshot will be considered as proof.

6) Using VOIP programs is allowed, spying during the match is not. As usual we trust in your honour and fair play.

Subscription and prizes

Guild subscriptions can be posted in this thread or mailed in game to lumaca, and must include:
- Full guild name
- 2 IGN contacts, preferably the name of the 2 most available players
- the server your guild is based on (EU or USA)
-10k cr to ensure a decent prize at the end of tournament.

The total amount of entry fees from entries will be divided in this way among the top 3 in the tournament:
First classified 50%
The second classified 35%
3rd classified 15%

thats our first tournament,

thats our first tournament, so we decided to keep it as easy as possible, allowing every guild to play the same amount of match. for future editions we will see.

maybe if a good amount of guild ask to partecipate we can change the finalists formula with an elimination braket

Because it takes less skill to be equally effective with a hammer than other weapons. That's why the hammer is seen as OP among non-top-level players... because someone with low-medium skill and no hammer will lose to someone with equal skill and a hammer 75% of the time. Hammer is more easily spammable. Even as you move into higher levels of skill, the hammer dash ->cancel ->dash -> cancel ->repeat to infinity trick is hard to counter. It's only when you get to the highest level of play (If that exists in SK) and both players know the ins and outs and style of their weapon and their opponents, that hammer is balanced.

So yeah, about dat tournament... I am making a sample for how an 8-player group stage tournament would look and play out if you are interested. Will post it here.

I love how people are trying to support Trolaris and Hammer-spam because they can't own people without using said weapons. Personally, I fully support these weapon restrictions. As a side note, my guild's participating in this tourny! :D

our choice to not have polaris/hammers in this tournament is due to our willing to avoid the usual "omg noob hammer!" "SPAM!1!" "hacxz0or!!!" that seems to come from every average guild war, and to ensure no abuse of these from anyone without taking too drastic measures (restricting UVS is not a viable solution, whatever people may think;)

Suggestions:
1) Set the date before everyone signs up. It allows people to make sure they will come BEFORE they sign up. Otherwise you'll get alike a bunch of dropouts later. Trust me. It happens. Experience :L. Especially when you restrict the same 6 members on a team.
2) Have a website. Link it up in the SK Forums. Way easier to organize things instead of everything in one SK Forum Post. You can set the rules in a webpage instead of jamming it all into a post. I see you made an excel sheet, which is GOOD. Although a website would be better.
3) Are you going to continue this like every month or something? If you do, you should create a "ladder" on your website. It will show like the rankings that are more accurate according to the tournament games. (Instead of that Lockdown Leaderboard in SK -_-)

We are trying if we can get a decent tournament going. If it works, I think we can do it regularly (monthly I'd say is a pretty good rhythm).
Servers are also kind of a problem. As you know, many EU players struggle in US servers and vice-versa.
If we can get enough guilds in the next editions of the tourney (if there will be any) we might even divide it into the EU side and the US side.

With a final match obviously!

WE COULD EVEN HAVE AN ALL-STAR GAME!!

Ok now I'm just going too far. Let's get this thing done first.

i'm waiting for a lot of confirmations from other guilds guilds, so i think that even without setting a specific date to end subscriptions we will be fine. the risk setting said date is to force the start of an empy tournament, so no reason doing that, i think everyone can agree on this.
NB: we are not forcing only 6 players for guild, we simply don't want substitutions from other guilds!

our hopes go into making this a regular event but, like reto said, we will see how this first edition go and which kind or feedback we receive. creating a ladder and a 2nd edition is in our true interests:)

Ok cool cool I like.

If this goes well, create a "season". Like the NBA season or the NFL season or like.... you get what I mean. Maybe like every week at the same time, guilds have one game or two against others. Maybe each team plays the other team 4 times or something over the entire season. Then, half way through the season is the All Star Game. Make a poll and then everybody gets to vote for their favorite players. The All Star Game could be like US vs. EU, or something like that. Then finish the season off with playoffs. and then the GRAND LD TROPHY and 2 MILLION DOLLARS. Okay, i know.... this is overboard.... but idk. lol I've seen it happen in League of Legends. I know SK isn't that popular and all.... but yah. Would be interesting. the 2 million dollars is overboard. but it happens in LoL. >.>

Oh and have like shoutcasters too if you want to record it on some place like twitch.tv (I have a twitch channel... currently not on anything right now :D). Shoutcasters would like describe the different strategies, the unique outfits people have, the skolver clones.... etc...

Guess we're waiting to hear back from the GMs of Ultra about rescheduling, rather than taking the win by default. They didn't have a team ready, and then an hour later still wouldn't play us for the tourney without the players they wanted. In the future, you might reconsider entering a 'dumb' tournament if you aren't going to bother to follow the rules.
