Ok i have been thinking about armor for vana aka fire storm citadel fsc for short and i can't decide what armor to take.
I sort of had an idea of mix matching and having vog cub helmet and dread skelly armor
i dont know if thats a good idea or not or if i should do somthing else.
please give your opinions :)
i wear seerus mask and shadowsun slicker.
similar defense attribute as what OP has suggested but far better in terms of offense
Vanaduke himself deals mostly normal, stun, and fire damage. His mask bullets deal elemental.
Zombies swipes deal normal, shadow, and fire; their leap attacks deal pure shadow; their breath attacks deal pure fire.
Trojan sword slams deal normal and stun. Their attack buffs deal shadow and shock. I don't know what damage their charges do, but I suspect it's normal.
Shadow fire, elemental grates, and Vanaduke's mask bullets deal pure elemental. Red Rovers deal elemental and fire. Rocket Puppies deal normal and fire.
If your party role is Trojan killer and Vanaduke destroyer, bring the Seerus Mask for optimal Blitzing.
If your party role is that of Shiver distributer, bring Volcanic Demo.
If you're the average swordsman, bring Vog Cub.
If you're a gunslinger or just want to do lots of special damage to the undead, bring Deadshot.
If you lag, wear elemental.
If you don't lag, wear shadow.

For example, if I wanted to bring armor to focus on the Vanaduke fight, I personally equip:
Seerus Mask (for Blitzing Vana faster, and for its resistances)
Vog Cub Coat (for the rest of FSC, and the elemental resistance against mask bullets; I would prefer Volcanic Demo, but I don't have it)
Volcanic Plate Shield (to resist his mace and the slag guard charges)
Blitz Needle (to kill him faster)
Shivermist Buster (in case I'm needed for freezing Vana)
sometimes Glacius or DA in place of Shiver for getting to Vana faster
But if I'm focusing on just farming the pre-boss levels, I equip:
full Fallen
Crest of Almire
Divine Avenger/Glacius
Argent Peacemaker/Blitz Needle

Lightning-Smasher, that loadout isn't bad, except that it doesn't have a lot of normal protection, and the hardest part of FSC (depth 28) is loaded with normal damage. You might want to read some of those old threads...
If you really want to take Divine Veil and one shadow defense armour, I would take Shadowsun slicker or Snarbolax coat instead of Skelly. They all have no fire resistance, but Snarbolax/Shadowsun have DMG bonus Medium per piece on either guns or swords. Skelly has a little bit more shadow defense than other 2 but you would not recognise the difference. If you die from zombies with Snarbolax/Shadosun, you will die with Skelly too.
is my set good? it is:
volcanic salamander mask (get)
valkyrie mail (currently seraphic)
crest of almire (still have to get it, but I have time, stuck in the 5* HoH)
I know that valkyrie is suicide (neg fire res and such) but crest of almire should be able to protect me.
Your shield protects you only while you're using it. Fortunately, Volcanic Salamander's fire resistance makes up for Valkyrie's fire penalty. I would say that it's an okay set, but not great. The defense is good, although more fire protection would be better. You have a bonus vs. fiends and slimes, but there are very few slimes. You have no bonus against the many undead, or against Vanaduke.
Eh, I ran FSC with azure guardian armour, aegis, mighty cobalt helm, leviathan blade and master blaster with a party of 2 and we went without reviving up to vanaduke stage 3. Then we decided to not revive and quit.
But if you want it to be easier run what the others are saying.
I have polaris and WHB. I have done a bit of training and I can pierce through vana fire defense. but ofc I'll get a needle.
and, ok defenses are ok to me. I actually started this set to get prepared to anything in the arcade. when I'll have time and when I will be willing to, I'll get a more specific set of defenses.
I just made the divine veil my self, so would it be okay if i just wear it with my volcanic demo suit? And also i am planning on making a shivermist buster but i am wondering if this freezing tactic is still meanstream...( should i make blitz instead?)
should be alright to use. Yes shiver is still used on Vana, depends on the capability of your team, more experienced teams won't need it although if you play with randoms a lot it will be good to have.
i think the wepons im gonna take are combuster and shivermistbuster and sometimes switch to avenger
Divine Veil + Vog Cup/Volcanic salamander/Volcanic demo. The last 3 share the same defence, the differce is in the bonuses (sword ASI,bomb CTR, dmg bonus vs Beasts)
