posting here because I'm not a new recruit. anymore.
I'm unlucky, and in all my life I only have got 2 UVs (poison low on dark thorn shield and beast low on WHB.)
so I am undecided if buying an ash tail coat from the supply depot or craft it. what is best? is it profitable ( = less cost) to get one from supply depot? I have to get that for a snarby suit and I don't have to do it now because I'm still stuck on the great wall (4* HoH)
craft or get?

I would never use the supply depot since it offers awful deals lol, but buying already crafted items from the AH can save money.... maybe.
Well this is just coming from me and my own opinion, but I believe even that slight, slight chance to find an amazing UV is worth it.
Even more than ever after they added double and triple UVs, I highly suggest to craft. Back when I began (year and a half ago ish) I would have still suggested to craft it regardless of only one UV.
Just remember. You do have that low chance to roll a double or triple UV. I've seen plenty of coats with double maximums + something else, so it's possible. The small, small chance does exist!
Be careful. You could go to the Auction House for already crafted ones (or... supply depot.... but you truly shouldn't), or make one lucky wolver coat that would give you the money capable of buying every Ash Tail coat in the game and much more.

Additional Point:
-Crafting may attach an UV or double/triple UVs if you're lucky enough.
-Using daily mist for crafting will additionally save your CE. Maximum 200CE (or 250CE if you craft from Wolver Coat) can be saved.
-While you're heating Dusker/Ash Tail you can earn most of your money and materials spent on crafting back

Never buy 4-star or 5-star items from other players or from the Supply Depot. They are very expensive, and you miss out on the satisfaction of getting the items yourself.
If you simply want to get to 5-star items as cheaply as possible, then buy 3-star items from other players and upgrade them yourself. If you want to get good UVs, on the other hand, then mass-craft your own 2-star items and upgrade from there.

At Supply Depot, Ash Tail Coat costs 1,600ce while crafting costs:
400CE+10,000 crowns (about 150CE)+2,500 crowns (about 35CE)=585CE
AND
200CE+4,000crowns (about 60CE)+1,000 crowns (about 15CE)=275CE
AND
Wolver coat= around 1k cr
==Less than 900CE at current CE price
Crafting is cheaper
