So, recently, I was messing around in the Advanced Training Hall, when a player complained that he couldn't shield bump with his proto shield. I equipped mine and tried it. Sure enough, I couldn't bump away the enemies. I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, so I'm putting this post here, just in case it's not...

Okay, so now I learned something new.
But, when you shield bump, isn't there a little animation of the dome around you kind of, "exploding" I should say, that knocks back enemies, because I didn't see that animation when I used the proto shield before...
The power of a shield bump is related to the maximum health and the defensive stats of the shield; a Proto shield can perform only very weak bumps, whereas an Ironmight can bump even trojans.
