Here's the in-game description:

"A delicious gummy treat with an impenetrable rocky shell. More than a few teeth have been lost by knights attempting to get at the gooey interior."

This is probably one of the most quoted passages in defense of the argument that the Knights are human, or at least biological. After all, only biological creatures have teeth, right? No. Wrong. F--. That's two minuses. Because you're that wrong. What nobody (at least that I've seen) seems to realize is that it's very logical for mechanical objects to have teeth because gears have teeth. Since your mind has undoubtedly been blown, you may now attempt to retrieve the pieces and put them back in whatever order you feel like. That is all.

Yes, this did warrant its own thread. Because I said so, that's why. No, I will not shove it back to the place from whence it came. That would be painful and probably more than a bit disturbing to watch.

Maybe, but gears do not generally possess the ability to taste.
Unlike biological creatures, which have tongues accompanied by teeth.

Praise the sun! \o/

The description for the Brute Jelly Shield:
"A thick shield made from the remains of particularly ill-mannered slimes. It is durable, light, and delightfully berry-flavored."
They can perceive taste.

The description for the Rock Jelly Shield:
"Crafted from the most adamant of slimy specimens, it also functions as an emergency source of calories for stranded knights."
They require calories to live.

As you were.

More to the point

"A delicious gummy treat with an impenetrable rocky shell. More than a few teeth have been lost by knights attempting to get at the gooey interior."

How do they know it's a "delicious gummy treat" if the shell is impenetrable?

ARGUMENT INVALIDATOR

Although I may be wrong, I'm pretty sure we have noses. Just saying.

You don't need to penetrate the shell, only break it. Doesn't say it's unbreakable.

A glass tube containing a small dose of phearium, a strange chemical said induce panic into anyone who even gets so much as a whiff of the stuff.

Yep, we have noses. Unless knights aren't part of anyone.

NOT ONLY THAT!

"A salamander mask reinforced with volcanic iron. In the field it can be used as a makeshift coffee pot, so long as you don't mind coffee that tastes a little like lizard."

Us knights also drink coffee.

Well

Some people think knights are either organic or mechanical. They could be a cross of the two. Something like an organic machine, a cyborg. Although we can only see their face as part of their true appearance and know that they can taste and probably smell from the Deadly Virulisk "smells like artificial pine needles" , this is not quite enough information to determine a knight's identity as an organic or inorganic being.

I vote organic.

"2. Early on, the Spiral Knights looked much more like conventional space marines (only cuter). Making them knight-like came a bit later when we determined the space marine look was too generic. Eventually they became 'tech knights.' That name stuck for a long time and to this day they are often referred to as 'tech knights' internally." -Nick

Relevant.

Either their helms and items

Either their helms and items descriptions are just that good at concealing if the knights are organic or robotic. One main aspect would be their glowing eyes. Ever heard of bio luminescence? The bacteria in the weird creatures at the darkest deopths of the sea that make them light up and what not as seen in those nature documentaries? Yeah.

Also, according to the wiki "Knights resemble short humanoids with dark skin, glowing eyes, small noses, and stumpy feet.

Although their full faces are never seen because of their helms, they are assumed to have mouths because of the description of various items."

Would this shed any light on it?

Also,

Consider the Slient legion and Operation Crimson Hammer

*****SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T MADE IT THAT FAR. TURN AWAY NOW*****

What about emotions? Can machines have emotions? Back when Arkus said he wasn't going to return to Haven after his squad was killed off, you can't help but imagine that incident. He must have felt depressed as he keeps thinking about it in the sanctuary place (NOT THE SHADOW LAIRS ONE)

Before the battle with Seerus, Lieutenant Feron says he's been injured by the Gremlin ninjas. It's illogical that robots have pain receptors (EVEN THOUGH I LOVE ROBOT DEATH SCREAMS IN TF2 MVM)

*****END SPOILERS*****

We gotta consider things that make sense and what doesn't people. We need to start thinking outside the box here.
