Before I generate the actual guide, I'm going to go through the missions and see what they give you for free.

1-1: Vitasuit, Robo Wrecker
1-2 Hatchet, Punch Gun
1-3: Stun Gun, Cyclops Cap
1-4: Slime Slasher, Beast Basher, Fencing Jacket
2-1: Mining Hat, Iron Buckler, Super Stun Gun
2-2: Super Slime Slasher, Big Beast Basher, Zapper, Rugged Robo Wrecker, Spiral Scale Helm, Hot Edge Recipe, Frost Gun Recipe, Hot Edge, Frost Gun
3-1: Cold Snap, Emberbreak Armor Recipe, Emberbreak Helm Recipe, Emberbreak Shield Recipe, Firecracker, Heavy Hatchet
3-2: Cobalt Helm, Cobalt Armor, Defender, Blast Bomb, Calibur, Blaster, Frumious Fang
4-1: Stunning Crest, Brandish, Cobalt Crest
4-2: Gel Core, Monster Bone, Jelly Band, (-Gel Core, -Monster Bone)
4-3: Gremlin Gizmo, Iron Gear, Crystal Pin, (-Gremlin Gizmo, -Iron Gear)
5-1: Grave Soil, Forbidden Fruit, Skelly Charm, (-Grave Soil, -Forbidden Fruit)
5-2: Solid Cobalt Helm Recipe, Solid Cobalt Armor Recipe, Great Defender Recipe, Tempered Calibur Recipe, Super Blaster Recipe, Super Blast Bomb Recipe, Solid Cobalt Crest, Jelly Gem

7-1: Silver Coil, Heavy Gear
7-2: Predator Crest, Liquifier Crest, (-Drake Scale, -Warp Dust, -Brute Core, -Rocky Core)
7-3: Dismantler Crest, Deconstructor Crest, (-Rocket Sprocket, -Heavy Gear, -Fine Fabric, -Meteor Mote)
8-1: Exorciser Crest, Ghostbuster Crest, (-Soul Dust, -Blighted Bone, -Phial of Fear, -Mug of Misery)
8-2: Azure Guardian Helm, Azure Guardian Armor, Aegis, Leviathan Blade, Valiance, Nitronome, Snowy White Laurel, Shadow Driver Recipe, Plasma Capacitor Recipe, Azure Guardian Crest
9-1: Strike Needle Recipe, Trojan Horseshoe, Sun Silver
9-2: Slippery Wetstone Pendant, Sacred Silver Amulet, Dragon Scale
9-3: Almirian Seal
9-4: Vanguard Crest

The only stuff you'll have that's worth having is:
*all the Cobalt, Defender, Calibur, Blaster, and Blast Bomb line recipes up to 5* (except for the 2* recipes)
*Cobalt Helm, Cobalt Armor, Defender, Calibur, Blaster, Blast Bomb, Brandish
*Shadow Driver Recipe, Plasma Capacitor Recipe, Strike Needle Recipe
*Jelly Band, Crystal Pin, Skelly Charm, Redwood Bracelet, Dewy Wetstone Pendant, Snowy White Laurel, Slippery Wetstone Pendant, Sacred Silver Amulet
*Silver Coil, Heavy Gear, Trojan Horseshoe, Sun Silver, Dragon Scale
*2-5 boss tokens from each boss
*Cobalt Crest, Solid Cobalt Crest, Mighty Cobalt Crest, Azure Guardian Crest, Stunning Crest, Predator Crest, Liquifier Crest, Dismantler Crest, Deconstructor Crest, Exorciser Crest, Ghostbuster Crest, Vanguard Crest
*You will have a net loss in the following materials: Drake Scale, Warp Dust, Brute Core, Rocky Core, Rocket Sprocket, Heavy Gear, Fine Fabric, Meteor Mote, Soul Dust, Blighted Bone, Phial of Fear, Mug of Misery

Recipes needed: x-burst Brandish, x-brand, final brandish, Lightning Capacitor, Voltaic Tempest, Shadowtech Alchemer, Shadowtech Alchemer Mk II, Umbra Driver, Autogun, Needle Shot, Blitz Needle

Notes: The Static Capacitor can be had for free if you farm ICMF. All the Frumious Fang recipes, Antigua-line recipes, Sealed-line recipes, Bark Module recipes, and the Crest of Almire recipe can be obtained most cheaply from Basil. The Jelly-line recipes can be obtained most cheaply from the Hall of Heroes. Assuming all Lockdown battles are victorious, the net cost of obtaining all of the PvP recipes to complete a weapon line (300 tokens, 200cr per LD battle) is 60,000cr.

The guide is coming soon. Any opinions so far?

Winning a PvP match will regain you the cost of your entry as well as a small amount left over (dependant on how many players finished the game on your team).

suggestions

Good. I encourage the writing of more guides. Here are some (hopefully helpful) suggestions.

To a new player, these item names don't mean much, so your list is probably overwhelming. And by the time they get a Vanguard crest they won't care whether they've lost a Brute Core. So maybe split this into Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 sections?

In my opinion, your evaluation of "the only stuff you'll have that's worth having" is too generous. Accessories are pure luxury items, with no effect on game play, and no objective criteria for evaluation; so maybe mention them but don't list them. Even 5-star defensive trinkets are probably not worth thinking about, so maybe mention but don't list.

Maybe you were planning this, but consider giving a specific chronological plan: "Do these 15 missions. Okay, now you have a solid set of 2-star gear. Now your job is to save crowns to buy CE for crafting 3-star items. Farm GWW and do the rest of the missions up to the Sovereign Slime..."

@Bopp

You have some good points there. I was indeed planning to generate a chronological plan. The above post is mostly for for the benefit of facilitating gear advancement strategies.

Perhaps

Perhaps make it a guide and not a walkthrough.
Or change the name to walkthrough.

Thanks for finding it.

I was wondering where this thread went.

It'll be a general guide, not a step-by-step walkthrough.
