I've seen so many people who claim to be a true gunslinger and the pull out a Polaris. Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef would throw you under their horses!

He's not raging lol. He hasn't made any mention of Lockdown, he's merely stating that the Polaris is not a real gun. Which I perfectly agree with. Back when I was a pure gunner, I used alchemers.

No true Scotsman fallacy

That's known as the "No True Scotsman" fallacy, which is a form of "special pleading." Gunslingers are defined as being players who use only guns. Example player uses only Polaris, which is a gun. Therefore, he is a gunslinger.

"But," you say, "true gunslingers don't use Polaris! They use alchemers!" First off, the definition didn't make an exception for the Polaris. Second, you've just brushed off all Blaster, Antigua, Catalyzer, Magnus, and Autogun users as being gunslingers too. Are you going to make exceptions for them? How do you justify these exceptions?

Just because Polaris is overused and team-unfriendly does not make it any less a gun than an alchemer, nor those who use it any less gunslingers.

If anything,

Polaris is a crutch for swordies, and a handicap for pro gunners.

What I mean.

Hexzyle understood me correctly. I see people claiming to be a gunslinger when they use a polaris all the time. It infuriates me. True gunslingers don't only use alchemers, they use a variety of guns. I use a shadowtech alchemer, but I really prefer my silversix because of how I can jump in, fire off 6 quick shots and get out.

@Arkate

That's precisely what I was talking about - what *would* make someone a "true gunslinger?" Do you exclude all catalyzer users, for instance? What conditions must be fulfilled in order to be a "true gunslinger?" And can you be one without any alchemers?

"But," you say, "true gunslingers don't use Polaris! They use alchemers!"

No, I don't. Nobody said that.
I simply said when I was a gunslinger, alchemers were my weapon of preference. It was me just talking a little bit about me, as a sort of way to relate to the OP. The topic at hand has nothing to do with Catalyzers, Alchemers, Blasters, Magnus or Antiguas being or not being true gunslinger weapons, it's about Polaris not being a true gunslinger weapon.

A "Pure" gunslinger only uses guns, but does NOT use the Polaris.
There.
Was that so hard to express in words?

It's ok if a gunslinger has a Polaris, but if it's his only gun, or his most used gun, then he probably isn't actually a gunslinger.

I think people are taking the

I think people are taking the original post and the definition of the phrase "true gunslinger" a bit to seriously/literally. The topic was really just a little joking stab at some people via Clint Eastwood joke, and by "true gunslinger" people just mean "a gunslinger that lives up to my expectations".

uhhhhh

Pulsar is subsets of gunslinger, alchmer is subsets of gunslinger.

Gunslinger= P

Pulsar line,blaster & antigua line is a low ceiling skill = E

Alchmer line, catalyzer line, magnus line & autogun line is higher ceiling skill then E class weapon(not fully arrange the ceiling skill)= U

E & U is a subsets of P.

pulsar is in gunslinger but low ceiling skill so stop butt-hurting.

If i'm a lazy Basta** that can't aim percisely i use pulsar,but i'm not.

Skill

I think he means that because Polaris requires virtually no skill to use....So if you are a true gunslinger in it for the skillfulness then your not going to use a Polaris. Same with the brandish line.....

Not what I meant.

Yes the Polaris requires no skill, but it also isn't a very gunslinger style gun, and the flashes are quite annoying for other players. I was once about to unleash a fully charged SN on a jelly in RJP, but then somebody spammed Polaris and I died.

This is true, mostly

I agree with this, at the moment I'm a pure gunslinger and I see no use of an OP gun that's not party friendly.

I know your hate for the Polaris, it's a sort of, that's overpowered, annoying, and requires no skill.

Now consider this.
I use a volcanic pepperbox as my MAIN WEAPON, I carry it EVERYWHERE, it also doesn't do peircing damage, which means it's good against jellies and constructs and it does fire. Of course, because Vanaduke is the preferred boss, it's overshadowed by blitz and no-one bothers to get it or even TRY IT, except for a select few. In my eyes, blitz requires no skill to use compared to the pepperbox, I've joined FSC to help someone and the leader said, quote, "That's not a blitz" and continued to rant on about how the VP was bad, even stooping so low to say that it looks like a recolour of the cautery sword... And Oh, there's others too, they weren't the only ones.

Imagine a world where the Polaris is a standardised weapon, looks a lot like what I just explained, doesn't it.

Don't let this happen.

-.-

The gun i am holding is a polaris, the most powerful handgun on this planet...now let me ask u something, do u feel lucky, well, do ya, PUNK?....

Okay, enough with the clint reference, i mean, come on, do u really need to have a silversex or an alchymer to call urself a gunslinger?( i have a blackhawk myself, I found ur remark offensive.) Polaris is a good gun, it makes solo run so much easier, u can maul down clusters of jellies, zomibes, robots or even devilites with that baby. I am sorry but i got addicted, after i used the kilowatt pulsar for the first time, i knew then that i will never need another gun ever again. Polaris just makes soloing so much easier, as I walk across the narrow passages of death, u can be dam sure that i brought my gigawattpulsar....

Note: i have a fullset volcanic demosuit yet i have no bombs, yes, i went for the elemental and fire protection only :P, does that make my an aweful bomber?

DREAMS NEVER DIE, PULASR FOR LIFE!!!

Dude,

I always carry my trusty Magma Driver. Really worth it if your a sword guy like me (I'm half-swordsman and half gunner) But the only legit guns I have is the Magma Driver, and a 4* Blitz needle.

I actually have 2 pulsars. I'm going to get both of their crafting paths

I don't really mind the Polaris, I just hate people flashing it off everywhere thinking they're the best players in the universe.

It does have its downsides, though. It has knockback, and the explosions can either lure your eyes from the heat of battle or blind you for a split second.

At lease this is from what I've seen/heard.
