Alright I am building on the following loadout for lockdown:
-Volcanic Demo Helm
-Volcanic Demo Ssuit
-Voltaic Tempest
-???
And I'm not planning on getting any weapon or trinket slots as I'm not THAT much into PVP.
But what should I fill in for the ??? I feel kinda defenseless with ONLY two bombs so I'm thinking a gun or a sword. Since I mainly use recon I'd say a sword to backstab people with but which one? Or is a gun of more use?
Yes but which sword would go well with backstabbing?
Gran Faust is the classic choice. Although hammer is nice for non-strikers thanks to the added mobility.
Granted I'm primarily a striker gunner, so you may want to wait for the advice of someone more experienced.
The sword options shouldn't really matter really. It mostly depend on how good your aim is. If you have bad aim, avoid brandish line. Easy choice would be 180 degree swing either flourish line (less surprising because of more swings) or heavy sword line (only need one full combo and another swing from any swords to kill full hp + trinkets striker, or 3 - 4 swing needed, less if you also hit them with bombs). Even sudaruska works fine, though a bit slower. They are easy target when trapped in your voltaic tempest, you can even brandish charge shocked players just fine.
With sword + bombs only, you can't really fight another bomber, and will have hard time when 3 - 4 players spam polaris at you. It's not necessarily bad thing when you can survive, because you can distract those 3 - 4 players and let your teammate cap/kill other points.
Recon shield has ctr max on bombs, you don't those volcanic demo set at all when you are doing recon. In fact, it might be better to go more defensive armor (merc demo, or probably shock max ice jelly queen). Backstabbing people could be two strategies, one approaching without any death mark sign that indicates you are near, and slash immediately. Second, by trying to put death mark at them without being found. When you are out of screen, people will meet you without knowing you are charging or not, hence they might be carelessly chasing you and you release charge all of sudden. Also, people can't really see you when you are at far below (sniping with gun), because of the screen layout that top has more portion than below.
