Like the title says, Spiral Knights for 3DS. I think it would be awesome, it would probably play a bit like kid icarus uprising land battles, AH would require internet though. i will go into more detail when i am next on a computer, this is on my 3DS! XD
SK on 3DS!!!!!!
Quick Question: Whats the relation between SEGA and Nintendo?
@canine-vladimir most sonic games these days do have a version released on a nintendo console
@infernoburner would be same/similar storyline, player would be same as normal (a knight from the spiral order), would be able to support local multiplayer, possibly online multiplayer too, and i hope, if my idea is made, that they bring back sloom, sloombargo AND tortodrone
as mentioned, it would play like the land battle sections in kid icarus uprising
sonic games on ds were rebuild to match with the new system. some had even a different storyline (sonic colors). we need to rebuild a game. which, is not so simple.
it also means SK fans could play the game while on holiday
Hello and again, welcome to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. We are currenltly experiencing some technical difficulties--
Lack of detail.
Care to show me how it would be possible to make a MMO on a handheld device? Does one already exist? Does my Jempire Guild Hall have a Rock Jelly roof? And wait, you want to port it over? No, that's not going to work. Again, Nintendo devices do NOT support Java. Plus, you need internet for SK. Going on holiday without modems would be a big No. Take a laptop?
SEGA does not develop sonic, they just merch it. Same for SK.
i think it would be a game that would encourage solo play, such as making it a singleplayer game with optional multiplayer
Well, you may forget what this game is about.
banding together co-op. Did ye watch the trailer?
And how can you suggest this, If SK has to be ported due to Clyde not compatable to most consoles to work well(It may work to the point you can play, but you need to adjust all controls.
The fact that how does Sk fare to other games, or the fact that this game is different to the Product it's based of.
Isometric view, Zelda like gameplay(to the original ones), with a ecomnomy and a rotating level system.
To a game which is third person, not compatable with the original game, Is single player and and not online.
However, I heard about something called, OYUA....
-_____-
about the co-op
that's why i said optional multiplayer, supporting LOCAL wireless multiplayer
The best MRPG game ever.
The whole game was built on an engine that allows you to unrestrictively (drop in drop out) multiplayer the entire campaign.
Will this game Profit?
Is there anypoint of Sega alowing OOO to do this?
Odd how OOO didn't do something along the lines of Defiance.
@hexzyle lol i has that game, been helping my mum on it recently too
Please don't bump only 10 hours after the last comment. Your thread was still on the first page. It takes 24 hours before a thread drops to the second page and benefits from a bump.
Don't you dare bump this thread again. Otherwise, I will have to bump your head, ram it with your screen and ruin your PC.
RULE 666 OF THE SK FORUMS: [NO BUMPS IN SUGGESTIONS FORUMS, UNLESS IT HAS BEEN UNIVERSALLY AGREED ON, IS WELL DETAILED, AND NOBODY DENIES IT WITH FACTS. BREAKING THIS RULE WILL CAUSE SEVERE PROBLEMS IN FUTURE, BEING BUMPED IN YOUR FACE COUNTLESS TIMES IS ONE OF THE SYMPTOMS WHEN YOU SLEEP. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.]
I love caps.
Well, here's a simple glitch for infinite crowns if we do this.
Play SK on the 3DS, and use all your mist.
Then without connecting the 3DS to the internet, play it on your computer.
When you upload data, the energy is still zero but you have double the crowns.
i like how i'm not getting any CONSTRUCTIVE feedback

How about you do some research about how to develop a game and what it takes for a game to be PORTED (because yes, this game was designed for PC, not 3DS) to the 3DS and what would those implement means.
AH is linked to both or only 3DS? 3DS is DRM or not? If it's DRM then how will OOO know which is 3DS and not? Can my acc be played on 3DS with Steam? Can I get a Metal Sonic promotions on the 3DS?
Go deeper than just the tip of the iceberg, we wanna know how it will work with the existing server...
we wanna know how it will work with the existing server...
It's not, and it's a ridiculous idea to think that it will. What other cross-platform games do you know are MMORPGs? Especially on something like the Nintendo DS?
If anything, the DS version would be a spinoff of Spiral Knights, not an adaption.
@ Hexzyle the argument of "it doesn't exist, hence it cannot happen" is only because we did not work enough to make it work
I do agree it's worthless and don't wanna offend you in any way, I'm just debating for the sake of debating. (I'm just like that)
I mean, yes it hasn't been done but it doesn't mean it cannot be done.
I watched the show Sons of Guns (and I don't know if it's true, hence why I'm quoting him) and in one of the episodes they said that nobody in the world made a silenced sniper AK-47 or silenced grenade launcher. But they did...
So yeah it hasn't been done, but having a separate server with specific aspect (like Konkregate has) could be done. It's not out of the boundary of possibility.
Although very unlikely to happen
You do have a point, but Three Rings isn't that large of a company: If any company ends up doing it, Three Rings won't be the first.
Nope, OOO would need to redesign the UI to fit on the 3DS's screen. Until then, we can't even have a port to a console that requires standard definition t.v. output compliance.
It would be easier to program java onto your 3DS and show it to us than to get OOO to rebuild the entire game and fit it to the 3DS. And it's not like you don't have the resources that aren't time to do that.
Actually Fehzor...
It would be easier to transfer the java work into another code that can work with 3DS then to implement something that's useless to this type of portable console.
It would be easier for Sega and OOO to adjust to Nintendo then to Nintendo to adjust to OOO...
And I doubt Nintendo will say "okay let's develop java to our 3DS that is already getting old!" when OOO ask "just because a fan asked us on the suggestion forum board, pretty please?"
Edit: Side note:
If SK would get ported on the 3DS I would instantly buy one... o.O I'm all for it but I don't see it happening...
inb4 PSP SK
This is a bad idea...but if you play KI:U, I'd love to add you! ;)
Now SK be better on Ipad/Iphone, Xbox and PS3. SEGA could make SK on them, mojang did, and minecraft is also a java game. With Xbox and Ipad, Just need to make the game for the other devices and upload to the store. PS3 (or 4) im not sure about

:U
Whilst I admit it would be nice to have Spiral Knights available on other devices, I have to agree that 3DS is not the immediate option that comes to mind; the customer base is fairly limited, and I suspect it would take quite a bit of effort to get everything synched up to the main server, not to mention shenanigans with mist tanks and other shared resources.
Having a single-player, cut-down version of SK would seem a bit strange, although I can imagine that it would work, with some revamps. But, again, the amount of time and other resources needed to be spent on such a thing would probably be better put towards developing the main game further. I'm sorry, but while it would be nice, I just can't practically see it happening.
@Orngeblu yes, i do have KI:U, pm me ingame and we can exchange friend codes on 3DS
In the future yes, it would be awesome! +1
Right now... there are a lot of fixes/ updates going on while the game is still being further developed. Wait like 2 years, and see where OOO has gone with this game :) Until then -1
Ending result: 0
ty for agreeing about the awesomeness (to everyone that agreed)
@Sham
For Snarby? Lol, that's probably actually true XD Just remake the entire game for DS. But then would it really be Spiral Knights.
@Snarby
The problem is that you don't know what you're asking for. Like if I asked you to drive across the ocean on a motorcycle with no regard for physics. SEGA might be able to pull it off if they wanted to (OOO flat out cannot feasibly do this), but is there really anywhere near a large enough audience on the 3DS that would buy into Spiral Knights? Especially since it would require internet to use on the 3DS, which would mean that you'd have to be by a router the whole time- killing the "portable" part of "portable gaming".
Y'know, if everyone wants this game to cross the road of computers on the left and consoles on the right, that's fine.
But what Fehzor said, the router would kill the idea of portable gaming. The newer (Translated: Newest and upcoming) TV consoles with internet support and bigger controllers might work better for this. Wii U, PS3/4, XBox 720 are the most suitable for this, since they all run internet and are bigger - by that I mean, they have cables, complicated inside stuff, and huge amount of memory (This is needed for playing online outside computers unless the game is small and the only online part is like leaderboards and upgrade $€shops). The 3DS is too small to handle a few hundred people, while SK has like 2 millions.
SK might work on the Wii U as a Gamepad-only game. Had to say this.
@inferno i never said it would be connected to the server all the time, i also agreed with the person who said it could be a possible spinoff
Spiral Knights would also be a fundamentally different game if it had no massively multiplayer element and was instead single player or even local co-op. It would be called "Strange Remake of The Legend of Zelda" if that were the case.
@Snarby
i never said it would be connected to the server all the time No. But if people want a MMO to be crossing the bigger bridges still in the form of MMO, that is what is needed. It's the majority that wins, really. There were a couple of mentions of MMO system porting, so yeah.
i also agreed with the person who said it could be a possible spinoff
Still, it's the developers and publishers that have full right to modify the final product and what it will be.
You also mentioned playing with the real-game characters. But what if I was a kid who said, "Mommy, this game seems awesome! Let's buy it!" and had no knowegle of the actual game? Would there still be a valid storyline for that? And if they knew of it, and Mommy didn't let her sonny play because it's 13+? Then what?
Also, you said that you'll provide details when your on a computer. I saw you play a derpbillion times, so either keep responding to messages in a way like "hmm, that one seems okay, the other doesn't", provide something from yourself please?
well buddy, i definately go on the game a LOT more than the forums, its just too fun
Canine-Vladmir Says:
Quick Question: Whats the relation between SEGA and Nintendo?
SEGA gave in to Nintendo years ago, around the time of the Gamecube. I don't understand how you would even Maneuver around, with the analog? How would you attack? With the buttons? The main question is, how would you tilt your character around to attack? :/
The main question is, how would you tilt your character around to attack?
You evidently haven't played many DS games ^^
Left Handers aim with the screen and move with ABXY (Or the Circle Pad Pro) using R to attack. Buttons on screen for changing weapons/shielding/vials
Right Handers aim with the screen and move with the D-Pad (or the Circle Pad) using L to attack. Buttons on screen for changing weapons/shielding/vials
Alternatively, have the game touch to move, R/L to shield, A/← to attack, X and B/↑ and ↓ to switch weapons, and Y/→ for another command such as using vials or interacting with objects.
That is, of course, if it was very similar in gameplay to the PC version.
Realistically, this will never happen: OOO does not have the staff to program something like this. And even if SEGA takes it into their hands to make it, it would never be linked to the online game. EVER. It would be a spinoff, and may not even match the same playstyle (it could be a 2D platformer, or a Turn-Based Strategy game, or a FPS)
NOPE
you already spam nintendo letters at me X_X
i dont need ones about SK. Nah dawg i aint about dat life seriously sk on 3ds is terrible.
just no. JUST. NO.
TERRIBLE.
i like draggings this on, so... no more spamming nintendo mail at me ok? xD
Well, It could be like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate/ Monster Hunter 4. SK has a loose storyline as does MH yet MH has recently moved to 3DS and is still very fun and Monster Hunter 4 is supposedly going to support online play in addition to local, sssooooo SK could easily do the same or even make the loose storyline more solid by taking advantage of the single playability of 3DS.Or even have an Online mode AND Single player like MH.It'd take some work but would payoff, +1
A lot of people are complaining about how you could cheat at the game by "not connecting to the internet."
FYI, Halo Reach has an offline credit limit, whereas once you reached said limit, you would have to reconnect to the internet at least once to continue earning credits.
Additionally, if players connect to the internet to play Halo Reach for the very first time, and they have tons of credits already, they will be prompted that they are carrying too much credits to convert to online, and must therefore give up a whole lot of credits, depending on how far they are over the limit.
In other words, I'm suggesting that a limit on how many crowns and materials you can collect while offline would be applied, so no need to fear the offline double-crowns glitch.
you liar, i DON'T spam nintendo letters at you, i haven't even been on nintendo letterbox for a few weeks
Imagine in the not too distant future Sonic meets SK. SK has the Sprites (pokemon) in place. We need a new UI to support this. The admin start wanting us to use game controllers and even make forum posts showing us how to map the controllers. SK becomes a console game...
updates and new content coming in the forum of cd releases like the SIMS season, pets etc...
Hey Snarby, did you read the same blog I did?
It's a nice idea and all... But NEVER going to happen.
please move this thread to the graveyard.
Jemographic Out!
Do you mean Singleplayer games or a port of the actual game?
Port would not in any way work, as Nintendo's consoles do not support Java.
Singleplayer-- Sure. (this means we need another game engine and stuff, an example of this kind of MMO-to-singleplayer is the club penguin game) Storyline? Information? Zelda-like RPG or a platformer? Are you the same knight or Rhendon, Intel Agent Kora or someone else?? and more importantly, Sloombargo's?
