Dreaming About SpiralKnights?

I'm curious; has anyone ever played Spiral Knights so much to the level where they have dreams about Spiral Knights?

For example; during this Anniversary event, I've spent a great deal of my time constantly hunting cake lairs alongside my friends and guildies.
How much time? (Enough to gain the tokens needed to open over 115 prize boxes after buying a Prisma cake hat)

Earlier today, after pulling another all-nighter, i fell asleep only to have a dream.. About Opening Prize Boxes in Spiral Knights.

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone else had gone through a similar experience with playing SK excessively long.

Also, because i'm overly conscious about always following rules and proper conduct, Is it against ToS to play Spiralknights to a level where it may personally affect your mental health?
I understand that might be quite a ridiculous question to ask; though i'm a seriously careful type of person.

On a side note.. I believe I've become an Insane Cake Token hunting addict.. I'm scared on how I'll recover once the event ends.

From the perspective of all sane people out there, should I be concerned?..

I had a couple. The one I remember was about two weeks before the expansion came out. It was a still frame of that one corner bend hallway where a gaseous-barrier-door-thing is in the wall and you can see rockets outside the area you can walk around, but everything was washed out in red as if it were a piktur in one of those old fashioned development rooms, and I saw my knight coming in from the west in a specific loadout. When I ran the expansion for the first time and saw the area it looked exactly how I saw it in my dream but without the red and I happened to be using the same loadout which was also in my dream.

I think the other dream was watching my knight drowning in a small pond in reality or Blast Network grayscaled. Luguiru drowned.

It's perfectly normal. When

It's perfectly normal. When you play games you're conditioning your brain in that moment to focus exclusively on whatever series of tasks makes up playing the game. Your brain is very good at stuff like this and it can leave a lasting impression.

I've had plenty of dreams about the mundane qualities of games I've played: managing inventories, navigating menus, sorting, chat systems, etc. The systemic qualities of games seem to really do it for me.

Because of this I also frequently lose sleep when going over the design of systems at night. I can never really shut my brain off as it seems like it wants to reach a conclusion when a system is half designed.

"It's perfectly normal."

Of course! Nothing to see here folks, we aren't shooting waves into your brain or burning images of our logo into your retinas! No harm done! Though if you eyes start glowing or you begin to excrete sprites while in the restroom as opposed to regular human fecal material, please, see a doctor immediately. Not that that's happened or anything! *wipes sweat from forehead*

This thread finally gives sense to a lifetime of my mental tics.

@Nick: Managing inventories and naviguating interfaces (but especially the former) are some of the things my brain is the most responsive about. The fact that I cannot manually arrange items in Spiral Knights causes this a lot.

For the longest time I've been having thoughts of sorting items by types (Calibur, Brandish, Flourish, Troika, etc.) gnawing at my mind out of the task not being yet functional. Then there's my plans on investing for ideal UVs on every single piece of equipment I have and plan to acquire, even down to having two of each for PvE and PvP. Even practicing for Lockdown and working to master new techniques becomes a rigorous conditioning in my head.

So yes, it's perfectly normal. Everyone is prone to machinal tasks like that. However, the longer your mind works on said routines more than you actually put them to practice, the more it becomes a detrimental fatigue that weighs on your mind and suppresses your ability to think more flexibly. It always leaves the matter of expanding on those routines. For example, a Lockdown Training Hall would be ideal for those who have the same tic as I have: I haven't gone to the Suggestions Forum section much, but I'm sure the latter has been discussed plenty enough at this point. And, as brought up earlier, manual inventory management, which would be a very useful and flexible function, however mundane it is. I'm only throwing ideas out.

Basically, you'll probably want to keep things fresh and simple, wheter it's on a schedule or on a whim. Long-term, autonomous routines can overcentralize what goes on in your head.

I can't say I have dreamed about games...

I have dreamed about work, and what I would do depending on what has happened that day. Usually it involves the what if, had I done this, this may have happened.

Also as Nick said earlier (and the main reason I chimed in) I am glad I am not the only programmer that has lost sleep because of coding, or programming. I miss doing it, but I can't let coding prevent me from going into work at my real job. When I was coding for a friends business (and he was paying) I would literally either code till the sun came up, or would pass out with the laptop in my lap (code on the screen) and then dream about changing the code (and usually would come up with good ways to either fix it, or move ahead to get the end result).

I am normal after all! (well as normal as I can be lol)

I haven't dreamed about SK yet, although I've dreamed about playing games, being in them and characters from them. Sometimes the characters appear in several dreams.

Sweet Dreams.

Have you ever had visions of video games when you weren't sleeping? It's much more unnerving. At the height of my CS:Source playing years ago, sometimes as I shut my eyes in bed I could see the CS:S HUD in my vision. That's not cool. Boom, my head was truly shot...

On an interesting dream note, last week I had a dream about SK. I dreamt I was in the arcade and I found a scenario room I'd never seen before. It rewarded me with some crowns and a rare material I'd never heard of. Was some sort of elegantly named 'mushroom' or something.

A brilliant crossover

I actually had a dream once!

I was only a 3* newbie... I saw in my eyes a bunch of silver cogs just spinning wildly in an orange, fluorescent background. then, I willed myself to turn the camera of my eyes to find the Clockworks in title-screen blue.

Then, I find my knight, standing on the edge of a shock-themed terminal that's not seen in-game (as in it doesn't exist)

Then, it switches to him running down the terminal and the camera pans to the right to reveal one of those Super Mario like wooden airships.

Then it cued a scene of one of those ships being flown by an Azure guardian.

The airship looked pretty much the same as the Mario ones, only with the horse-knight emblem on its side.

I wake up quickly as if I had a nightmare and was like (O_O........ I have to draw this)

After breakfast that day, I did just that >:D

I wish I could post it somehow. The horse-knight emblem was a bit off because I was drawing it from memory without internet. It kinda looks like a Trojan with a small Mohawk. /laugh

The picture still hangs up in my Dad's office.

How I usually spend my time in SK

I don't really dream about Spiral Knights, but I do spend a great deal of time in the auction house just so I can gain enough crowns to buy crystal energy so I can prepare myself for the harder missions - ones that probably need more than 100 energy. Plus, I need energy to craft, but I could probably just buy what I intend to craft and save the energy for the Clockworks.

"What is the most resilient parasite? A bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm?"

An idea.

Resilient, highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed, fully understood. That sticks, right in there somewhere.

Skelly 'hawk.

I've "designed" various armors and helms for SK in my dreams... As in stuff you could wear.
Unfortunately my mind is fond of vivid blips and finished products, not the important revelations things took within the dream, thereby utterly forgetting exactly where points A & B met.
Then again I've also had dreams where I'm playing/in the game...
Still remember dreaming up a fully operational and near perfectly scaled, wearable dread skelly suit and mad bomber helm, also made a bombhead with an ongoing fuse effect, something akin to flint being twirled about at the very ends of the mask allowing for hours of fuse or some such.

Anyway, gamers respond heavily to vivid visuals throughout their playtime, it's only natural that some portions of said games delude into your dreaming subconscious.

I don't think I ever dreamt about Spiral Knights. Then again I never remember my dreams long enough to tell their tale.

For how random the brain scrambles your memories around to make a dream though, they manage to predict your future quite often or they always bring the exact same dream in less than 6 months...

I've had a few. If you recall my last post, that was one of them.

A few others consist of my SK guy in the Azure set in a scarlet-fortress level outrunning something and got down on a lower ledge. It was super-realistic but the thing never showed.

Another one was I was fighting Vana, but the room was different. Like half the size but wider (horizontal), in a CW's tunnel, Vana was much bigger, maskless, turned and faced me, and strangely had no eyes.

The one I had today consisted of me playing the new rank missions there was super-cool panoramic cutscenes and some couldn't do some without certain items

KATS EVERYWHERE!

I had an awesome dream where I was doing the Sovereign Slime, only to discover a SWARM of black kats and torjans! After easily dispatching them with my leviathan blade sized proto sword... I discovered to my delight that every single one of them (including the Torjans) had dropped a book of dark rituals! Then Margrel just show up and GIVES me the hat... Then I proceeded to fight a royal jelly sized NICK, who insisted it was a glitch and I had to return my stuff. I KILLED HIM WITH MAH STORM CALLERS! IT WAS GLORIOUS, at which point he dropped 10000000000 zee cores, effectively reducing there value to zero!

Who says it's bad to necro?

Who says it's bad to necro? So long as you do it right I don't see the problem with it.

Speaking of dreams, I had this strange dream way back in 2011, way before I actually made it to Firestorm Citadel, where me and my friend, Zeakstarwind, made our way through winding caverns with magma and cavern-like nonsense until we reached some sort of Andross-battle with a hint of bullet curtain, which was supposedly my dream's visualization of Firestorm Citadel and its boss.

But the most bizarre thing of it all is that I was aware that I was dreaming, and said to my friend: "It's just a dream, but we might as well make the most of it!" Because of that one line, the dream resonates soundly in my mind, even now, two years later.

That truly is one of the strangest, and indeed most memorable, dreams I've ever had. And it just so happens to relate to video gaming.

I don't think it's weird at all, I mean, you like the game, you think about it, and your brain uses the images you saw today to form a dream, I mean, if you come to think of, it, what is the difference between dreaming about a book, a movie, or a game? You enjoy it, you think about it and you bring yourself in your characters place to make for an interesting dream.

Wish I had dreams D: for some reason lately I can't seem to see any dreams at all. Or at least remeber the ones I do see.
Adventuring in the clockworks with friends and fighting big bad monsters with cool weapons is a good thing to dream about in my opinion

I had a dream about spiral knights, it was kinda scary. I dreamt today with the new arcade. I was looking at the mission interface, and the second and fourth cards (arcade and prestige) were different. The second was now the arcade one, and the levels were totally random. It had an animation where, when you finished a level, the elevator was removed inside a box, and then, it went throught rails to some kind of station with random levels... It was weird. The fourth was talking about killing gremlins or somethig like that.

I command you to rise from your grave and rescue my daughter.

No, a necro is a person who... never mind. If you don't know about such things, you should ask to hear about it from your parents rather than random strangers.

I'm not here often enough to catch every interesting thread, so I actually like when nice old stuff gets dug up. :D I've probably had SK seep into my dreams lots of times, but I find two moments memorable, where an otherwise non-SK-related dream suddenly took a turn that reflected my greedy gear goals. The earlier was when I dreamt of triumphantly acquiring Biohazard in some kind of weird desert landscape where I was for some reason using explosives to dig for something, and Biohazard promised to make my progress more fun and possibly faster. (For those who read the children's novel "Holes," by Louis Sachar, the answer is "Yes, it was inspired by that book.") The other time I remember, I was dreaming about dreaming about flying. I dreamt that I needed an excuse to dream about implausible things, that I may continue to enjoy dreaming about flying, so I decided that I must have been dreaming about exploiting a physics glitch whereby the Sudaruska's lunge doesn't stop pulling, and becomes user-controllable so I can use it like one of those torpedoid thrust thingies that scuba divers use.
