Freeze is not a bad skill by any means, but it's not on the top of the list unless you're in a certain fiery throne room and some other choice areas.
The appeal to freeze is that it keeps foes in place, allowing you some time to focus on one enemy. Enemies can still strike back, and they take damage after they break free.

What I would suggest is not that we incapacitate the monsters and take away their attacking ability, but instead of taking tick damage from breaking free, they would take damage from being struck out of the ice. Many games that include freeze as a status ailment have this feature and I think it's a good idea. I feel that this would be a good idea because it allows the said bomber to be more than just cold crowd control, but another form of attack. I would not be opposed to reducing the damage from the thaw however.

-What would this create though? Would knights also have to take damage from being freed from ice? Would enemies that break their allies also do the same? Or would our teammates kinda chip at it and gently let us out? Would you be okay with this kind of change?

Ice related weapons besides the bomb are single targeting with multi hitting charged attacks, this would also increase the playability of those weapons and level them with their fire and shock counterparts.

As long as the premature ej- thawing damage grows the longer the target is frozen, meaning if you freeze then immediately thaw it does incredibly low damage but the longer it stays frozen the more thaw damage it deals. It would teach people to be patient for a larger result.

As much as I like this there

As much as I like this there is one problem, this is just a stronger sleep.

What if we give freeze an extremely mild stun effect, so that after the freeze wears off you get ASD: low and MSD: low? And a blue tinge.

How much damage are we talking here? The added damage from hitting a poisoned targets is not very much. It would basically be overpowered unless you made it so small that it's pointless.

Freeze is already a win button for almost every fight in the game, I don't see how it needs a buff.

The thaw makes no sense

Taking damage by thawing out of ice doesn't seem practical. If it were to be even taken away I would not be opposed. But hitting an enemy encased in ice classically does extra damage.

-The aptly named father-frost is somewhat correct, but we don't have a sleep related weapon anyway. The monster can still attack, and this change does not make it more like sleep at all. I don't see the connection.

-To Zeddy, Freeze is not a win button. Many monsters have ways to overcome it such as jelly, and robo-knight variants. A small amount of damage would be supplemental and notwithstanding as a source of damage. I wish to make it more of an asset.

I must ask again how much damage we are talking about here.

Is it more damage than shock, which doesn't stop your enemy as much as freeze? Is it more of a damage boost than poison, which doesn't stop your enemy at all? Consider that shock does a very pitiful amount of damage already except for against targets weak to elemental who are grouped in tight a cluster and everyone in that cluster is shocked. Is it anywhere close to fire, which only purpose is to damage enemies?

Zeddy it's whatever you want it to be.

What do you think would be a good level of damage if said change were to be made?

If the monsters can not attack then it is the same as sleep but deals damage at the end or were these changes made when hit. Sleep stops them form moving and attacking but heals them. That is what i mean by a stronger sleep but it sure would be fun for t2 LD not having to worry about being smacked or where they are facing.

Minor poison boosts damage by at most 24, usually 18 at depth 23. What this means is that, unless you want ice to be even more overpowered than it already is, this damage would need to be less than 18. This is a very small number already.
