How new is this lag?

Well, I just got around to updating my game. I haven't played for around... half a year? 5 months perhaps? Wondering just how new some of these... surprises I've gotten are.

First I logged in to only to see my name colored in white. I used to pride myself in my ironically blue colored name, thanks for that OOO. If I'm not asking too much of you guys, could you print my name with a pale bone color, in silian braille?

Then I tried to see where my mist bar went. Took a while to find. Thanks for not always keeping my money on the screen.

Anyway, that's not the worst of my problems. After what felt like a somewhat long time loading, I popped up in haven and decided to walk around. It was like I had drunk goggles. I'd press my mouse button, nothing happens.... nothing happens.... nothiii- Oh! I'm on the opposite side of town square. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but in all honesty this is unbearable. I used to run the game smooth as can be on low graphics, and could still manage to run it better than I am now on all options. Now I get these frequent screen freezes that last nearly whole seconds. Menus like the auction browser used to expand smoothly, now I just hear the "cli-click!" noise, get this half expanded window, then eventually the actual auction menu. Plus there's LD. You wouldn't even imagine how much fire I've ran into. Furthermore, you wouldn't even imagine how many people I've seen run into fire. I mean the lag is so bad, I'll be walking towards a base, then freeze, then suddenly have completely passed it. The funniest part is that recons activating or deactivating their cloak seems to make my game freeze up sometimes as well. I mean I'm really trying to be as rational as possible but I really do find the game as a whole is unplayable for me in these conditions. There's the possibility that the patches put my graphics back to default, and that lowering them might make it borderline possible to play, but this is still pretty bad.

So anyway, I said before I hadn't played in a good half year or so. I'm wondering when all this came about. Has SK been getting more lag patch after patch, or did something like the UI just slow the game down? Or were all those other fire huggers a mere coincidence and is this actually all just me?

A few months old. People just

A few months old.

People just found it timely to complain about it when the new UI rolled around.
Or so it seems to me.

@Shidara

No, people have been complaining about increased lag for a while now, the UI update added a little bit more to a good bunch of people so no surprise more threads complaining about it are popping up.

UI added people? I mean, I wouldn't really go to a game because "Dam! Look at those menus! So sleek I gotta play this..."

Actually, I'm gonna look like a liar now since I just came back to the game a day after the update. COINCIDENCE I SWEAR!

Some of this lag is new.

I've noticed significantly more lag since the new UI patch. Particulary in LD. I've been playing since the game launched and for the first time I've had to turn the graphics settings down. Even on low I still have problems now. It's like a constant series of minor teleports rather than one big jump. The menus do not open smoothly either.

I've got the same symptoms as tartar, but I was able to play the game on mid and usually high graphics if I wanted to.

No-Thanks
new or not, laggy

dsl 50 000, yes fifty thousand
gtx 460
cpu not very fast i admit but its still a quad core

lowest resolution and graphs, no compatibility mode, since that doesnt seem to do any good to my framerate
EU and US both kinda lag at lockdown, not talking about polaris or recon cloak bug here

this is now, but ld has always been somewhat laggy -> at that time it was a bit faster dual core dsl 6 000 and 8800 gts

i cant really say anything about whether new UI made it worse or not. my clockworks are pretty fluent i can max graphs np, but im always in solo

other than my CPU and OS, there is nothing for ordinary people on my side, that could improve performance any further

im recalling there was a situation, where i switched to low res on this pc the 1st time, that was pre-update. it was a STRIKING difference in how my eyes perceived everything after the lockdown matches with FLUENT framerate. that alone made it worth it.
with the new UI, when playing at lowest resolution, im very busy typing /cle to get some space on my screen and im very sure, that if the framerate were to get as constant as it was when i 1st switched to lowest resolution, i would recognize the feeling, that i had after playing ld without stuttering. however, since i havent played as much at that lowest resolution(started playing with DVS only because it was THAT good), i cant be certain to get the same boost back with the old UI

for now, ill just have to buy a new pc, certainly not for new games, but to get a constant framerate in some flawed online games - after all i dont get this kind of internet connection to lag in a game like this with graphics settings like these..lol

I found myself lagging with thenew UI update and turns out I just needed to update my Java version and my graphic card's drivers and it seems to fix all issues. Just something to try if you haven't thought of it yet.

This space for rent.

I.. actually haven't experienced much lag since I started playing again a couple days ago. Blast Network has been as good as it could get for me on a red bar, no freezing or anything, much faster loading screen times but I will say that I used to get more and more lag after each update/patch. Haven't ventured into missions or the clockworks yet since I got my new laptop so I feel like the previous lag might have just been my crappy PC *and a bad Australian connection >.<*..

I was playing just as the first regalia bonus ended, so I've put in my time. I can safely say that the game ran better before.
