How bombs work now:

  • A charge attack is required to make the bomb work
  • Bomb is placed at your feet, then goes BOOM a few seconds later.
  • Going bombs only is NOT recommended (unless you are really, really, really, really, really good.)

How bombs used to work: (or so I've heard; I haven't been around that long)

  • No charging required
  • People constantly spammed them like mad. This is why OOO made bombs require a charge before they could be used.

How (I think) bombs should work:

  • Instead of requiring a charge, add a cooldown. While waiting for your bomb to regenerate, you can switch to another weapon and attack.
  • One click (or press whatever your attack button is) will place the bomb on the ground. Similar to how Blast Network's bombs work, but without the ability to collect upgrades.
  • BONUS: Hold attack button for a second, and you can throw your bomb like a grenade :D The bomb could either explode on impact, or bounce off it's target and hit the floor, after which it would explode.

The reason why OOO changed the bomb uncharged thing was because of the old Shard bombs (the ones that shot 6 or eight bullets with a huge range). Placing three in quick succession was quite overpowered. As for the throwable bombs, why do we need to combine bombs with guns? We've already got the Pulsar and the catalyzer lines.

The throwable bombs thing is an optional bonus feature; If that doesn't work out, it could just be dropped.

On an additional note, gremlins are capable of throwing bombs. How come we aren't?

Gremlins don't use the Pulsar and Catalyzer lines, which is odd considering they were designed for use by gremlins.

Pulsar:A high-tech Gremlin firearm designed for use by elite squads of Ironclaw soldiers. Pulsar shots become more powerful the farther they travel.

Catalyzer:An advanced alchemical armament adapted from Gremlin mining and demolition devices. Charged Catalyzer bullets envelop the enemy in an energy field that explodes on contact with regular shots.

Strange.

Gremlins are also capable of infinite, full healing and attacking while having an unbreakable shield on their backs.

Charge a bomb, more damage

Charge a bomb, more damage and range. Simple
So the non charge bombs with a cool down would have less range and charged ones do more damage and range. And bombs do more damage than current bombs, unless they are placeable at a reasonably balanced speed. Asi - bomb cool down time
