Now, I know the magnus is popular enough, but it is not a very versatile weapon, especially when compared to the other normal damage gun, the blaster. The gun CAN inflict stun, but stun is virtually useless. I think the magnus deserves it's own unique lines, like many other weapons in SK that inflict different status effects. These gun lines would branch off from the original 3 star magnus, and continue on into fire inflicting, poison inflicting, shock inflicting, and freeze inflicting versions with the appropriate color schemes.

Sure, there's the knockback. But it is very hard to spam magnus.
Stun is not virtually useless. The Callahan does high damage (although it could be a tad higher) and causes flinch.
Someone probably has this somewhere in some <4000 node but if I were to rebalance the guns without simply messing with damage rates or slapping statuses on them I would give Iron Slug the ability to temporarily reduce normal defense on the second shot for attacked enemies, then for Callahan having the bullet pierce through enemies and deal more damage with every penetration and no cap on increasing damage since the bullets can only go so far and hit so many targets.

Sorry, but I think that stun is useful. The magnus is a piercing weapon, and at 5* the callahan does the trick with stunning. The Iron Slug needs a buff yes, but if you're wanting more elemental enducing weapons what's wrong with the alchemers? The magnus line is slower, and I can't imagine the playstyle with it is so fun that you'd want to use it over the alchs if you wanted elemental statuses.
Can you explain why you don't want to use the alchs?
Alchemers, brandishes and haze bombs are all designed to be able to hit multiple targets multiple times to increase chances of status infliction. Magnuses hit a single target once and as such is not very conducive towards status infliction.
What Magnus needs is straight up damage and range buffs.
Pretty sure Nick mentioned something about giving the Magnus (and a lot of other items) a buff in a future update...........
While I like the general way your idea was, we don't need the magnus line turning into the brandish of guns. THis could all be solved by tweaking the iron slug and callahan.
