Here's an armour guide:

Get a chaos set. If you're super worried about statuses, get Volcanic Demo if you use bombs, Shadowsun Slicker and Cyclops cap if you use guns, or Skolver Cap and Fencing Jacket if you use swords.

I started to make one: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/User:Jdavis/Armor. I stopped working on it, because making and maintaining a good guide takes a lot of work. In particular, it has not been updated since the Chaos buff. If there is interest, I could turn it over to the community; maybe then it could be completed.
