Why I Think OOO isn't Trying To Kill Spiral Knights

I've been playing spiral knights since 2011. Over time, I've watched new content get added (snarby, roarmulus, harder reskins of old bosses in harder areas), seen new systems get added (missions, finishing the guild hall! missions rock!), lots of balance tweaks (the nerfing of the jelly king, some other things that I don't remember), and some other stuff. It was fine and dandy, and I liked the game quite a lot, even when they caused the price of CE to double, or more accurate, crowns to drop.

Then, after a few months of inactivity, I saw the UI change. This thing is incredibly useful! Now instead of being able to see my HP at a moment's notice, I have to look to the upper left of the screen, away from the combat! And I love not being able to see how much mist energy I have. It means I risk wasting my valuable crystal energy by going down elevators, which is something I absolutely love! I mean, just compare it to the old UI, which was a crappy feat of ancient design, I'm not sure how they ever produced anything so horrible. http://media.spiralknights.com/wiki-images/7/76/Interface.png

And those flat, easy on the eyes icons! I hate not having my eyes bleed whenever I look at my UI. I mean, life's just not as good unless the UI makes my eyes hurt. It'd be TERRIBLE if they added Zopy's UI redesign, it's so clean and lifeless! I mean, what's the point of having a pretty UI?

The new content is extremely amazing! I mean, with shadow lairs and all (that you have to spend tons of time grinding for), who wants to have a silly planetary core do something already? It's not like there could be anything interesting in it.

I absolutely hated the arcade, with its focus on random, interesting levels, and clean UI. I mean, who wants to have to plan ahead for a specific arcade run, instead of knowing what each level will have exactly before? Having missions to provide easy, short bursts of Spiral Knights is amazing!

Overall, these changes over the past years have made Spiral Knights a much more engaging and entertaining experience. I may add more to this post later, so check back occasionally!

1) this isn't a suggestion.
2) Careful with that sarcasm. The Internet will probably take it as fact.

I was trying to make it as

I was trying to make it as blatant as possible. Also, it's not like they have a forum marked "Complaint Box", is it? This is the best place for it in my opinion. It does convey what I think they're doing wrong with the game, so it is somewhat a suggestion.

If you can't stand doing a quick glance at your health in the top left corner, you probably shouldn't try to drive an automobile. Just sayin'.
Or play racing games.. those will drive you insane.

I don't like how they've hidden crowns and the energy meter, but is it really THAT difficult to press one button to see it?

The UI has problems, but this topic was a waste of time. All of the issues have been said, and said countless times.

Plus, this should probably be in General Discussion, not Suggestions.. as, you know.. you don't suggest anything.

When driving a car, 1) you can see the road and the console at the same time, they put it there for a reason, and 2) it isn't as vitally important that you know everything that's going on every instant. You never need to look at your speed, that car in front of you, and the one behind you at the exact same time. As for racing games... What are you even trying to say? It's not exactly important to see what speed you're going at or what's happening anywhere else on the screen besides your car and the road in front of you. Which are in the same FoV.

Also, cars have been around for much longer than MMOs, and people have refined the interface to the point where it takes the minimal effort to observe the most things possible while keeping focus on the main objective. SK did the opposite of this; they spread everything out so it's harder to see all the vital information, and made it harder to see the most important things (you and the surrounding area) by slapping a nice big weapon wheel in your face.

Uh.. where did I say anything about knowing about everything that's going on at the same time?

2) it isn't as vitally important that you know everything that's going on every instant.
It's not vital in SK either. You don't NEED to know how much health you have, what weapon is equipped, how many pills you have, and where that pesky Wolver has run to; at the same time. So.. what point are you making here?

You glance up at your rear view mirror; I was comparing this to glancing up to see your health. You'd have to move your eyes further for your rear view; so if seeing that health meter is a problem; checking that rear view would be even worse.

As for racing games... What are you even trying to say? It's not exactly important to see what speed you're going at or what's happening anywhere else on the screen besides your car and the road in front of you. Which are in the same FoV.
I'm one of those people that glances to see how much N02 I have left. Should I yell at the developers for not having that bar directly underneath my car on the screen?

SK did the opposite of this; they spread everything out so it's harder to see all the vital information, and made it harder to see the most important things (you and the surrounding area) by slapping a nice big weapon wheel in your face.
I'm well aware of what they did. My main point was these problems have been mentioned plenty of times before. Mentioning it again won't make it magically go away.

I was just playing around about the health thing. As in, making out it's an absolutely horrible idea that breaks down the very fabric of the gaming world.. when all it is, you have to take 1/4 of a second more time to check your health.

To be fair, it'll be good for the health/shield/heat to be centered in the screen; as that'll create good symmetry.

The other difference between driving and SK is that if you glance up at the mirror, you do it when you know there's nothing directly in fron of you you have to worry about. In SK, it's much easier for something to jump out and suddenly become a danger in that 1/4 of a second you glanced away. Especially in LD.
