I tried that once.

The bombs are not capable of damaging the Roarmulus Twins, but are otherwise splendid in the run. Since I wanted a video with a happy ending, I used DR for damage and Nitro for utility.

I was issued a challenge per in-game mail by a Fleet-Master. It reads like so:

Hello and Salutations, I was wondering how difficult it was to use only shard bombs (and vortex bombs) on The Silent Legion mission, the specifications for are-

• Restricted to only shard bombs and vortex bombs.
• Shields cannot be permitted UNLESS it's an Omega Shell
• You must do the levels before Arkus.
• You may use revs.
• The amount of players is your choice. It would be preferred to be solo.
• No trinkets.
• You must defeat every enemy.
• No chaos cloak. (Wouldn't expect you to use one... Ugh... Mad bombers forever!)
• It would be a great thing for the community since Arkus is one of the most forgotten bosses (next to Razwog), and it would be nice if you uploaded it.

(Just a little sidenote, I admire the underused aspects of the game and it's a shame to see it all to waste; hopefully I can be a good bomber on day.)

I don't have an Omega Shell, so that particular clause robbed me off my ability to shield cancel and, indeed, shield at all. Those are pretty useful when one is bombing fiends! After a brief exchange for clarification, we agreed I could use Dragon Scale Shield, and so I did!

The chaos cloak clause is kind of weird. With only bombs it's functionally the same as mad bomber and for that reason I pretty much use it all the time. It's great for smashing things with Triglav and perforating stuff with my Pepperbox, too, so there's that. Also my Chaos pieces have better UVs than my Mad set (medium elemental, medium shadow versus low piercing, low freeze. I never roll anything at Punch more than once so don't take that to mean anything about which one I put more effort into.) Whatever, I'll heed it.

As for the clause about allowing revs? I never consider a game beat unless I 1CC it.

I use Ironmight Plate Mail as a costume piece because Ironmight Plate Mail looks badarse. Here's my actual equipment:

• Mad Bomber Mask
• Mad Bomber Suit
• Dragon Scale Shield
• Deadly Splinter Bomb (low vs fiend)
• Deadly Crystal Bomb (low vs undead)

I tried upping the quality a bit this time since the last one was kind of smudgy. It looks very clear now, but the video took over eight hours to upload. I'll find a compromise on my future shenanigans.

It does if you're using Mad Bomber. Recall that damage bonuses have a cap of +6. +4 splinter is more powerful than +6 sun shards.

Do you mean Sun Shards versus Splinter Bomb? My usual advice is whether or not you have damage bonus for bombs going. If you use Mad/Chaos, you probably care about damage, and the little extra damage boost Splinter gives would be worth it. Otherwise, go sun shards.

I shardbombed OCH. It'll be split into five or six parts.

The boss took 20 minutes, where at least 15 of them were spent fruitlessly shardbombing that battlepod that turns invincible while at the same time healing itself. It's a terrible boss under normal circumstances. Would you people actually want to watch a 20 minutes tediumfest or should I change loadouts for that particular fight and use Nitronome for just the battlepods?

I did die during the bossfight, but I'm never, ever puresharding that fight again (at least until the hitboxes for battlepods are fixed). However, Nitro makes OCH quite breezy so I wouldn't mind doing a take using that.

Nitronome works fine against Greavers. The important thing to remember with both bombs is to not spam them at full CTR speed. You instead want to learn how often greavers attack and time it so that each bomb interrupts them when they do.

Yes, I'd say so. DBB is by far the best option for bombing Vanaduke (complemented by a Nitro or normal-damage shards for the mask if you feel up to the challenge), but Splinter is not so bad either when you have the techniques down. I have videos in the OP showcasing both weapons against him.

I would not recommend Sun Shards, as stunning Vana could make it trickier to bait him into your bombs, but perhaps there are ways to do it I haven't thought of yet.

Thanks! Shards may not be the most efficient arms in the game, but I think they're definitely the most fun ones. I always feel like there's more to discover and learn about them. Others will have their own favourite weapons they think pretty much the same thing about, of course.

For me, it used to be the old shards.

I used them absolutely everywhere at first. Even against slimes and especially against gremlins. I spent a long time of my knighthood with just Ash of Agni, RSS, Tempered Calibur and Biohazard.
