I quit around June of '11, and then I came back because one day on impulse. It was fun for maybe 2 weeks, when I was hunting for accessories and leveling some new gear. But then, I hit the same wall from back in the day: what the heck do I do now. I log on to the game, and then I quit in 5 minutes. PvP is all right but it just doesn't appeal to me. I think I might quit again =/ probably check the game out for a day or two when the next event comes. I really want to like this game, but it's just so hard to stay interested! What does everyone else do after you reached endgame? You beat rank, beat the expansion, dressed your toon, dressed your alt, got all your weapons... and then............
How do you stay interested
try bombs. they are fun to craft and use. My favorite is the shard bomb series. also try to roll UV's, that never bores me, especially when i have to grind the crowns every time. Swords are rather linear, too powerful, and not fun. Also try danger mission and clockworks levels. Maybe even try to test trinkets, and their effectiveness against damage. You can also try to go make extreme loadouts, such as ASI med cutter wth vog set, or ancient plate set max normal with scarlet shield and 2 penta-heart trinkets, or even chaos neutralizer with ASI high and SSB. The possibilities are just everything that isn't super optimized, like brandishes.
anyways, hope this helped. have fun
Get a new toy everyday. Experiment with armor, both costume (I AM not talking about accessories) and practical. It adds a whole new experience to the game. Try new tactics, styles of play, something DIFFERENT. Life would be boring without variety. Why is it that not everyone wears skolver? Or vog? If they did, would spiral knights STILL be spiral knights?
I have an alt account that's (More or less) going through the Clockworks the classic way: No missions, no Hall of Heroes. Otherwise, I look for new ways to put the Gremlins six feet under, along with the Undead.
You do not want to become like this
its a sad thing happen to it i love it but uhhhh...
What keeps me playing? LD, and the fact that I'm still on my first 5* set after playing for two years.
...which is because T2 LD is best LD.
I have never gotten board here. I haven't reached end game. I still don't own all the 5* gear. And I don't kill my fellow Spiralians either.
I do much more than just missions here. I still play the arcade sometimes practicing to solo my next mission or prefect one I already did. Sometimes I help noobs and do runs with them. I do arcade runs starting on level 1 and run as far as I can. I might do it for speed, perfection, to see how far I can go without dying, maybe to be just where the next monster spawns so I can kill it before it's feet touch the ground. I might test out and heat new gear there. Sometimes I do it with noob or 1* gear to see how far I can get. Then there's the social aspect; friends, guildies and the role playing. Sometimes, I'm too busy with that to fight. I help them do their missions and grinding. I spam the forum...
Sometimes the fighting and grinding gets a little old, especially when soloing but when I feel like that I just lay off from doing it. Then events and new things come. They're often enough to help break the monotony. I kind of see Spiral Knights more as a virtual street corner to hang out on with my friends that has things to do rather than a game to play.
I haven't got all weapons nor the specific gear for those (eg. demo gear for bombs), so I still have something to look forward to. I do a fair amount of lockdown; admittedly AT TIMES it's all that makes the game fun... Then I get a new sword or gear and I enjoy my PVE time nicely.
I'll admit that one of the things that will keep you in the game are friends and guildmates you meet. Seriously. It's more fun with others. Unless it's the bad kind. You can deal with that though.
I have gotten bored at a few times, but take a week's break and come back... might entertain you somewhat. Though I am sure... real life has some seriously better things to do. /shrug
I quit around April of last year, I came back a few weeks ago.
I'm not interested. This game is just hours and hours of wasted potential. It could have had player-generated content like a level-editor tied to something like a premium membership but no--OOO hates money. The only reason why I play this game is because of the shread of hope I have that maybe--just maybe they will do something right.
OOO will nail it on the head you guys.
Let's just wait.

1) do different depths and such for no reason
2) killthe snarborlax with an antigua
3) play LD with a differen class
4) try losing in LD -losing is not bored, winning is- especially for me
5) randomly change your class while playing LD
6)try spamming your polaris
7)give 10k to a begger
8)browse the AH
9)priview yourself in the wierdest loadout on AH
10) flirt with someone.Saucy!
OMG what is that! I don't know whether to be interested or disinterested. It has boobs, but is it a bad boob game like this?
Dammit Hexzyle, you made me click Hariender's link.
But what does that have to do with SK >_>
Well, I played from April of 2011 until around August of the same year, Then I came back in May of 2012 and stayed until sometime this past Fall.
I keep coming back though for the community aspect, because SK definitely gets a 10/10 when it comes to the social part of it. At least it got that score back in 2011. Before LD that is!
When not active, I still lurk around the forums until something makes me want to come back again.
The way I do it, is that I don't just farm the boss levels with my mist.I also do recipe runs, participate in events, do arenas in the clockworks, do a clockworks run, help my friends, and do some BN. When all that fails me, I chat with fellow knights in haven.I have not finished all the missions.Currently working on 5* gear to pass the hall of heros. Just need my armor and my helm. Basically, have a goal to accomplish in-game.When you have completed your goal, make some more.
Also, about the boobs....
Take yourself away from the game for a while. Works wonders. :v
Just make some random goals you want to achieve. Or... find some active friends in game.
RSS in RLD
electron vortex in RLD
gran faust charging in RLD
new controls (I play with arrow keys for fun)
hunting for swarm monsters?
acheron against zombies and fiends
combuster only against beasts and gremlins
blitz needle only against constructs and slimes
proto only
etc
I don't play spiral knights anymore. I play lockdown. I only run the clockworks to get more Lockdown stuff.
• I switched weapon types, and then started playing as a hybrid when I had gotten used to them. I found that was like a whole new game.
• The clockworks is more interesting, if you're not looking for money.
• Start a guild dedicated to helping the noobies
• Battle Sprites Soon?
• Run with different people
I only play Spiral Knights every week, but still nothing changed much, I'm still waiting on the Pet Updates, I think it'll be around June or July.
If anyone needs help crafting or in any missions, please PM me, I will be able to help a bit.
I stay on interesed on SK 'cuz that game allows to make money by not-playing (Craft) and steamtrade.
But that isn't active playing. I still wait for some updates, what will make point of playing as Endgamer. And no - that aren't pokemons.
It used to be potential and my optomistic support. OOO Helped turning that into nothing though
Craft a Nitronome, and start blasting the place to smitherings ^^ It's also useful for annoying people :P
4 peeps doing a Nitronome party can be quite interesting too.
Bombing is certainly a good way to entertain myself
I usually do the easy prestige mission as full bombers (with the exception of the devilish one -_-)
Join randomly a RJP party to give them a hand and witness how good I became over the past months... >.<
Check AH
Decorating Guild Hall (3rd floor on both sides with over 200 (if not 300) placable furniture... it often takes me 1 hour just to modify the guild hall) - This is probably my favorite thing to do when late at night with nothing to do :D
I also answer question when I hang out in Haven to newcomer, I even made a nice "tutorial" for a newcomer who couldn't even figure out why he couldn't do any more depth
If all fails, grab an alt and start begging the beggars for half what they ask... Someone bother you for 1k cr? Go ask him 500 cr with you 0* alt... it always work
-Giveaway(extreme timesuck)
-Bombing is VERY fun
-Arcade runs (They're always different)
-Trow money to the guild hall
-Spam the forums
-Wait for somebody with a black book to activate the Konjuring Kat (That was hilarious)
-fight with WINMILLION
-fight with IRON SLUUUUG
-fight with frekin CAUTERY SWOOOORRRD
-More giveaways
-Rarely LD
-search for rare enemies
-Screenie said enemies
-Don't leave SK until you have found and screenied all rare enemies
-throw money at beggars
-run from said beggars
-try to find a triple UV'd punch gun (I found a triple UV'd frost gun one time, that was great)
Find an active guild and make a group of core friends. This is probably the most important thing in my opinion.
Other things I would recommend are:
- PvP (if you enjoy competitive team settings - if not then ignore this.)
- PvE Danger Missions
- PvE Speed Runs (time yourself / your team and try to improve upon it. More fun than you might think.)
- Host Events: Think up and run an event for the community. You can ask some people in the Treasure Vault for ideas or tips.
Bombs, bombs EVERYWHERE >:) >:) >:)
Ok, here's another way to entertain yourself, but I should warn you, people might starting hating you :P
Step 1) Craft a Nitronome
Step 2) Join a party
Step 3) Equip the Nitronome, but don't reveal it until you descend into the actual clockworks
Step 4) Start spamming the Nitronome
Step 5) Stop when your party asks you to stop
Step 6) Start spamming it during one of those party-pad-dungeon-room-thingies to cause FPS spikes, thus, killing everyone :P
Step 7) Enjoy the previous steps ^^
Ok, don't do that unless you are extremely evil XD (If your party members have Nitronomes, encourage them to join in on the fun ^^)
Don't play so much, this game has good replayability because of the social aspect and whatnot but the limited game content which pales in comparison to other big mmos is the games downfall. Seeing as this game looks like it was designed for facebook, I don't think it was meant to encompass more than what we see today. I believe the game was designed for the casual gamer and there are notable hints of this like the energy system lewl and accessories lewl so players could just sit back and talk about stuff while other MMOs you have to go out and kill crazy monsters that are near indestructible or have crazy amounts of health whilst attaining tiers upon tiers of ubermensch gear until you become god.
The biggest thing this game is missing is probably an in-depth storyline. Although we have missions and scenario rooms to tell us what is going on, how many of us actually bother to read up on it LAWL. A lot of the content seems nonsensical to me. When the missions came out i was already a seasoned player and as such I felt didnt really need to bother reading any of the briefings because it was just a rehash of what we already knew expanded into a few neat paragraphs and i doubt new players have the patience to read all that lewl. I mean i don't even know why we have to kill all the bosses lewl aside from getting crowns, heat and energy. The game seems too vague and close-ended.
alternatively, you could get into pvp which is pretty fun no matter what kind of mmo you play.
Well all you gotta do, is play another game, or try to make friend, aren't multiplayer games made for that?
dropped the game shortly after the guildhall update (think that makes this the 5th time i dropped it) but for me to take this long to wanting to play it again... realy every time i start the game and go down the elevator i ask myself "hmm why did i start this game up again???" i have all the gear i ever wanted (and more) so the only thing i'm doing is hoarding crowns and farming mats (wich i sell for crowns)
i just got bored with the game... think it's the lack of variety :(
don't get me wrong the game is (was for me) great and i enjoyed the bossfights... but the DLC does nothing to encourage players to play it more times then needed to get seerus' mask...
the crown payout is just horrible compared to FSC so offcourse nobody farms it, also the tokens are allmost worthless! (don't think the market for the mask is that big)
haven't tried playing the compound lvls but that would also be a bandaid for a few days before i get bored playing the clockworks again (again... FSC's payout is to good to actualy farm something else)
so from a profit vs. fun viewpoint, balance the payout and make the arcade more atractive. they could also make the prestige actualy do something (i have no idea why i would even bother to play the misions)
to make the game more fun? more bosses... not only in T3 but all tiers
but for now i don't see myself returning to the game untill the sprites come out (and after that? i have this feeling i will drop the game afterwards) also the new UI is fugly :( (suprised they forced it onto us like that, why not make an option to choose wich you like)
When i get bored of Spiral Knights I stop playing for an uncertain amount of time, maybe a day or 2 up to a month sometimes. Usually an update/promo/whatever will bring me back even if it is just to check it out.
And what I do is trying to prepare for Shadow Lair Vanaduke which involves boring runs of Normal Vanaduke for crowns.. Playing Blast Network even if I constantly get derps and no one plays FFA.. Sleep in haven.. Talk to guild mates 'cause I haven't cleaned my friends list out in a while..
