Preview/Beta Player get access to Test Servers?

It concerns me that the only thing of "value" that I've received from participating in the Preview/Beta events is an armour set that makes me look like Machina Gearframe and the occasional conversations about ye' old times that said armour set seems to spark.

So, let's cut to the chase. It is my simple request that "veteran" Spiral Knights players get access to the test servers and when they are available. I feel like I took on a responsibility to help iron out all of the creases back in March 2011 and feel that Spiral Knights would be able to grow and improve at an increased rate by receiving a larger range and a larger batch of feedback from players who've been around for a while and know what has worked and what hasn't. Not that we're necessarily entitled to anything but I think "Preview/Beta Players" should have at least a few perks to make us feel like actual veterans rather than just "people who happened to play the beta", I feel like I really supported Spiral Knights in it's Beta/Preview phase and feel it's about time that we got a proper token of appreciation back from Three Rings.

I understand this may be a lot to ask because it's a request for a certain amount of players to bypass the usual $9.99 (spent within 30 days) entrance fee for access to the test servers, but in the long run I think this'll benefit Spiral Knights on the whole because Veteran players having access to test servers gives rise to a new variety of feedback and balance potential than ever before. I just think it feels "right" that considering we tested the game before it was released that we would be the ones who get a chance to test the game features that make the game what it is without having to burn $9.99 for maybe one or two test server events.

Again I understand that some people may complain due to the fact that veterans wouldn't have to pay diddly squat to get onto test servers but think about it from my perspective. You played the beta, have been around for longer than a lot of players, have been through a numerous amount of experiences with Three Rings and have gotten to know Three Rings a little better than most.

Interested to hear what you guys think.

So just because you got lucky and got invited to preview/beta you think you deserve access to testing server? That's ridiculous.

Not because I'm a beta player myself but if Three Rings wanted to keep the fee for accessing the test server to most players, I feel for veteran players (Those who participated in the preview event) should have a half-priced offer thrown in. Figure $4.95 pr $5.95 (Cost of an elevator pass?) to access the test server.

Us beta players don't seem to get any fancy treatment other than special Armors and Helms.

My Belief:

I see where you can get this idea, but I personally don't agree with it. I understand that Veteran Players have been around longer then all, but whats the difference between someone who played in Open Beta on March 28th, to the games release 6 days later? There isn't really much of a difference. And before anyone asks, no I'm not a "veteran beta player" I started playing in June 2011 so yeah I've been around for a lot of it too.

I do however agree with one point, the test server isn't getting enough people testing and thus not enough feedback. Theres only about 4 feedback threads from the new enemy test and that just isn't enough. You should be getting pages upon pages of feedback from test servers Three Rings.

What I think is that instead of charging 10 bucks for a pitiful 30 days of access to a test server that's almost never open. It should be anyone who has ever paid 9.95 gets full access to the test server almost a "premium" benefit. If you cant deal with a lifetime commitment then make it 12 months or 6 months or something but 30 days is just pathetic.

Better idea!

Have a special "Feedback Pack" which can be bought for $19-$20 or so to get permanent testing server admittance. There would be a pair of costume equips to go with it, along with a special badge. There'd also be an artifact to go with it.

For a week or so after release, this would be on sale to Beta players to possibly spark interest from old-time players. A beta player who bought the pack during the sale also gets a Beta Badge accessory, as proof of being a beta player without needing to wear Ground Breaker. Anyone like?

As a beta player, I'd also be fine with getting in the testing server for free. :3

+1 All the way. I think this is a brilliant idea, I'd be willing to pay a "small" fee for constant access and nice badge so I don't have to wear my groundbreaker but still "show it off" with a badge.

Not quit sure were I stand on this, I agree that most* beta players that are still around obviously have a better understanding for the game then some new player who has payed 10 bucks. Maybe making it what Iron suggested but changing it to 15$ dollars.
