Hello! I have been looking into the piercing armors specifically recently because of their underestimation of use in the clockworks. I have to see which piercing armor is better (Excluding Skolver and Justifier because I'm tired of it)

-Dragon Scale (Elemental, Piercing, Poison, Fire, Beast Damage Bonus)
-Mercurial (Normal, highest pierce, shock, MSI Med)
-Royal Jelly (Normal, highest pierce, stun, sleep which will be coming back soon)
-Ice Queen (Normal highest pierce (apparantly the wiki states it has a higher pierce defense than the two above, but ingame, it has actually the same stats) freeze, stun)
-Virulisk (Normal, pierce, poison, slime bonus medium)
-Silvermail (Shadow, Piercing, Poison, curse, undead medium)

Note how Skolvers are like iPhones; everyone has one because of the bonus features.
Vogs: Android.
Snarbolax: Blackberry.

This must be the true

This must be the true endgame. Getting so bored of good armor that we have to resort to spending money to forge crappy armor.

Virulisk and Dragon Scale depend on what you're fighting, they'll be effective 50% of the time.
Radiant silvermail has a very specific bonus and defense. If you want pierce defense and plan to kill lots of pierce dealing monsters, use the 2 previously mentioned sets.

Nothing beats IQ (freeze instead of sleep makes it better than Royal Jelly for now) And 2 status would be better than one (Mercurial and it's ultra small movement bonus) in general use.

I would disagree with "nothing beats IQ"

One good status beats two crappy unnecessary ones. Shock is a threat that needs to be met with armor; freeze is a threat that cannot be, and stun resistance is, while nice, not something to write home about.

I would disagree with "I would disagree with "nothing beats IQ"", at least partially.

  • They share defences so that's no argument.
  • MSI Low doesn't really make a difference in my opinion. Having MSI Medium makes it a bit more noticable but not necessarily decisive.
  • Two statuses are better than one. However, as Fehzor says, Shock is more important on aromour and Freeze wins on shields.
  • IQ set allows you to waltz through two kinds of haze bombs in LD, isn't that nice? Add some UVs and you could waltz through Freeze, Stun, Fire, Poison and Shock! How evil!

In the end, I think they're pretty equal. They both serve somewhat different purposes anyway. In PvE, one could have both and adapt. In LD, it doesn't matter because everybody is a Skolver clone with two Penta-Fart Pendants.
