So, this is basically based off of being kicked off a server on Spiral Knights. Not being kicked out for lag, or being idle, but for being kicked by a party leader. Well, lots of times I find myself wasting energy, and not really for any good point. I'm pretty sure this hasn't just happened to me, but I sometimes get kicked AFTER I have spent my mist on an elevator. This wastes energy, and stuff. So, in order to counter this, I have come up with, the Sub-Inventory. So, here's how it works: After you spend your energy on an elevator, and get items, it doesn't directly go to your inventory, but your sub-inventory. You can't use or trade ANYTHING in it. After you have finished a mission, all the items and crowns in it goes back to your regular inventory. If you decide to keep on going into the mission, it still gets transferred, and your sub inventory is well new and empty again, ready to be packed with stuff in the other mission. BUT, if you suddenly decide to quit, get lagged out, or SOMEONE decides to kick you, the energy you used is refunded. If you used mist, it gets refunded as mist. If you used CE, you get back your CE. If you spent 3 mist and 7 CE, you get back 3 mist and 7 CE. But, here's the catch. Once you quit the mission, your sub inventory is cleared out, and you won't be able to get the items. So, basically, if you want your energy back, you get no items or crowns. Also, if you quit, you have a choice to restore your energy, and get no items, or just go along and get the items, but no energy is refunded. There should also be an option in which you can use your sub-inventory or not.

+1 :)

but what if you use 10 mist, then use a mist tank to refill your mist(to full), then get kicked/quit? Where does the mist go?

What about revives and tabs?

What if I alone beat the whole level, paying all revives and elevators necesary, then let my friend kick me, canceling all the energy I wasted, but still letting him complete the mission for free. Or imagine the same scenario with alts......

Then you wouldn't get back the energy you spent on revives of others, or on tabs. That works... right?

@Klipik
I guess if you have 100 energy, it stays 100 once it gets refunded. It's more like a punishment for faultily using a mist tank. Or, you can't use it until your energy is refunded.

@Little-Juances
Klipik is right. It is your choice to tab or revive, but not to get kicked off a server.

This feels like a lot of screwing around and rollback systems just for a minor mist problem. And this is coming from a guy who frequently experiences disconnects and stupid log outs due to cruddy connection.

I agree that there are a few things that could be done to enhance disconnection support, but this is nowhere near optimized. Fixing a problem by layering backup systems all over it isn't fixing it at all. It's leaving the system open to more bugs and exploits.

Well, Hexzyle, not everyone in the game is a rich Vanguard who uses CE as mist or someone who doesn't play much and has plenty of mist to spare, but players who want to play all the time. How would you feel if you were randomly kicked and wasted of all your energy? Huh? And anyways, I didn't say anything about lag, all I meant is that people can just randomly kick other people (which could potentially screw with the economy, although I don't like to get into that), and waste what precious mist they have.

Well suppose I just want to play

Hang on a sec- I still played the levels and OOO's servers just had to handle the levels I was playing, but since I didn't care if I got the rewards, I didn't have to pay anything. It is my choice to quit, so it will be abused. You might want to remove that, except if the person has died. If I die, especially repeatedly or especially because of a spike in lag, well, I kind of want to just go back to Haven and wiat for the lag to pass.

How would you feel if you were randomly kicked and wasted of all your energy?

This is what I experience every single day, be it due to lag, people not liking my rank, or bad weather. It becomes especially troubling when I try to lockdown and causes my team to get ticked off because of "stupid leavers".

All I can say is grin and bear it. The only thing that needs to be done is fixing who has the power to kick in parties, which has been suggested many times. Nothing can really be done that hasn't already been done for disconnecters. It's a downside to not having a stable connection.
