Any reason they set gamepad support to one row than the 3 key mapping setup from before? I had used the Key 2 for my D-pad and right toggle to alternate controls.

Anyone else effected by the change?

What are you trying to say? If you're upset by the default control scheme, remap it. If you're bothered by the function split of the "face direction" hotkey, the old function can still be attained by combining the "face direction" and "move direction" hotkeys by mapping them to the same key.

your controls shouldnt have changed unless you did so yourself. I have my joypad mapped and it's exactly what it was before the update.

I have nothing wrong with regular movement, and it's not the default settings. I reused the move and face keys but for separate controls: d-pad for move keys and the right analog for face keys. I can no longer do that now as custom controls only allow one key row for gamepad.

My control setup.(You may substitute the way you see fit).

PS3 controller:

  • D-pad: Up/down/left/right= nothing.
  • x button= vial 1
  • square button= vial 2.
  • Triangle button= vial 3.
  • Circle button= vial 4.
  • R2 trigger= next weapon.
  • L2= nothing.
  • R1= action.
  • L1= defend.
  • select/start= nothing.
  • Left analog= move.
  • Right analog= face.

I am sorry if I did not give an answer you were looking for.

I'm going to look what you're talking about, because I was sure Custom allowed up to 3 binds per action.

@Larry

You can bind two keyboard/mouse buttons and one gamepad button to any given action. You used to be able to bind 3 of any kind of button, but this is no longer possible.

What's a "right toggle" anyway?

Also pounamu, I didn't realize there were separate rows until I checked the options just now (key 1, key 2, gamepad). Kinda sucks, but I never had a reason to bind an action to more than one button, so...

By right toggle I meant the

By right toggle I meant the right joystick/analog stick. Should of went with joystick, sorry about that.

Yeah, that change is the only thing that messed me up as I've had that setup for a long time. The purpose of my setup was to give my d-pad strafe movement without holding down the strafe button, and the right joystick was for aiming without moving. I'm guessing the only reason they had done the change is that most people use one row for the layout for the gamepad.

Well that's why I just bind left stick to move and right stick to aim, just like The Binding Of Isaac. No strafe button needed.

Are you using windows? I think I might be able to help you out. I learnt a few tricks with custom binding keys during the Shield Bash incident.

I think he's referring to editing your key bindings manually in the registry. It's possible to do that on the other platforms too but don't know where their config is kept.

I thought of doing that

I thought of doing that actually, but I wasn't sure where those files are in the SK folder. I'm sure the SK folder setup is the same on each platform.

It's not. Keybinds are stored in the registry, as are ignore settings as well as various other minor saved details like what sections of your arsenal you had open and whether you were in trade channel or not.

Ah okay. Not sure where I'll be able to find that on my computer (using a Macbook). Guess I'll poke around some files in the Library folders for anything that might work same way, so I'll just have to work with a new controller layout until then. Thank you all for your help.

If you do manage to find your registry (you could just google how to get to it) Spiral Knights will be under something like local_machine, javasoft, and projectx.
