I was thinking of a concept for a character. A knight that only ever uses one weapon and progresses along to a 5* with which they will stick. So, for example, you could go protosword->hotedge->calibur->tempered calibur->ascended calibur->leviathan. It doesn't have to be a sword, it can be a gun or bomb, but you can only use one of each * level, and once you move up, you can never go back. How would you do it?

Bombs would be interesting...I wonder how people would go along the pistol line...probably blaster? I'm guessing normal is going to be the way to go no matter the weapon, though, eh?

Yeah, I'm starting to think a handgun might be the better bet. Being able to hit enemies across gaps and just having the range (for explosive crate situations) would be pretty nice. So there we have Magnus, Supernova, Neutralizer, Pepperbox, and Valiance. I'm guessing Supernova, though that would suck for party play, I'm sure. But, this character would have to be able to solo everything.

My opinion
I think Proto bomb>Blast bomb>Super Blast Bomb>Master Blast Bomb>Master Blast bomb>Nitronome would be interesting
Some cheap people already do that with calibur or cutters. It's not that hard.
But doing it with a bomb could be an interesting challange. Try to time the fuse for snarby and twins without swearing once.
