The title is misleading.

Anyone notice how the market "Top Offers to Buy CE" sometimes have a listing with x20 or more offers?

I believe it is people trying to prevent the market from going lower than the amount they want it to go during times of lack of interest to buy CE.

There could be legit offers, but it is something people can abuse.

When I see a listing with x20 or more; I would either try another time or offer a higher price.
This helps to prevent the market from going down.

I suggest a limit of x5 so that the market can fluctuate more.

I don't believe there needs

I don't believe there needs to be any limit on the amount you can buy/sell on the cr<->CE exchange. Market speculation is very risky and I suspect that, overall, people lose when they try to do it (that is, they can't earn more than the 2% fee).

I can, however, see lots of reasons to want to place large buy/sell orders. For example, I was recently offered to buy two items that I wanted for 6k CE, but I had crowns. If I took that offer, I would have placed an order for 60 blocks of 100 CE. I have also pondered changing my name, but to transfer my crowns, I would need to convert them all into CE, and then convert them back on my new knight.

Pointless

CE price is directly influenced by what people think the price of CE should be. Meaning what people will pay and what people will sell it for will be what the price is. Someone putting up x20 CE for a certain price has very little effect on the general consensus of CE price. Everyone willing to buy or sell CE for 4k crowns on the other hand, has a major affect on it.

For people to hold it at a price like you say, everyone would need to commit to that price, either consciously or not. AKA no one posting drastically higher or lower prices to what it is. People who buy and sell CE are often far too eager to do so to wait out price changes so they often post slightly higher selling prices than the last price sold and slightly lower buying prices than the last price sold, so you don't see much movement from time to time and these ups and downs are usually only a few hundred Crowns.

limiting CE amount would just cause people to sell more often with smaller amounts at the same price they are selling the 20 or 40 or however many more.

I think its a bad idea. I

I think its a bad idea. I personally have sold chunks of CE especially when i finally found the recipe I've been searching all day for and i don't have the crowns. The more ppl wanting CE and the less ppl that can sell it because of the limit will cause a higher demand for CE and since we are limited it can only mean higher prices for CE and that's not good for the economy in the game.

So when you are flipping burgers at your local McDonalds, and they speculate a rush of 100 burgers....does your manager limit you to sell only 10 per day?

This suggestion is a joke, if people are willing to buy a block of CE (or crowns) at a specific price, what's the problem? If the market is heading down (or up), then those blocks will be eaten away at in no time. If you don't like how a stock market works....then stick with the "trade" tab.

Also- it should be pointed

Also- it should be pointed out that there's no way of knowing that one person posted all 20 of those. If you post the same price as someone else, you're added to that number. So it could theoretically be 20 different people all trying to get that price.

In any case, I don't think there should be a limit of how much you can have listed at any given time, simply because it would add time to trying to converting. And it wouldn't really do anything aside from waste time. You figure, if you're limited to 5 posts at a time, then once those 5 are done, you'll just put up 5 more. And if you're trying to get a 5star recipe, so you're selling a good chunk of your CE, it would just be really tedious.
