I tried messing around with the new(ish) gamepad support recently, and while I enjoyed it immensely, I noticed that I had trouble aiming my knight at the enemies I was fighting. so I got to thinking about what would be a good fix for this, and then it came to me: what if OOO implemented a mechanic similar to L- or Z-targeting in the 3d legend of zelda games? for the uninitiated, you would press a button to target a mob, and that would make you face towards that mob as long as you had the button held down.

The game already has an auto-aim option for guns. You will shoot at the target closest to your mouse.

Assuming you mean an

Assuming you mean an alternative to the existing auto-target function, how would you select a target? In LoZ, you're usually fighting one or two things at once, making selected targeting more practical, but in SK, you're usually fighting about ten things at once - selection would have to be via mouse, which not all players play with. Even then, it would be hard to select a single target - you would have to account for the fact that you and the target are probably moving.

TL;DR You mean selective targeting right?

Selective Targeting might be good but I HATE AUTO TARGETING + Targeting in general. If the nearest enemy is on the other side of a fire trap and you go to attack and you're facing the same general direction, the game launches you through the fire. NO. BAD.

Selective or Cyclic Targeting might be good, being able to pick which enemy you're attacking in case you don't want to autotarget or not target period.
