thought it would be a good idea to make a spiral knights app for ipod touch iphone and ipad!!
spiral knights app
Leaving the java thing aside... do you think you could fit all of SK gameplay elementes on a small touch screen so easily?
Any kind of smartphone is out of the question unless your fingers are smaller than a toothpick.
I've seen apps that attempt to tackle broader control schemes, and they're quite ugly. Simply put, your abilities would be impaired while playing and that would kind of impair parties in turn. I DO think however, it would be cool to go the WoW route and have an app that could manage smaller elements of SK gameplay, such as checking mail and stuff.
Consider the fact that rewriting all the game's code so that an iDevice could run it would take an enormous amount of time, and that it would likely mean that no new content would be released during said time.
The idea of an app is good, but don't put the entire game as it is, make it like lockdown or a bigger training hall with chalanges and u wouldent need Internet to play unless u want to..
controlled would be a left joystick and right buttons to attack, change wellness and shield.
U woudent need Java bacouse it would not strictly need wick to play and the game wouldent be as big as it is.
Basicly this would help u:
play SK alone away from home.
Check your in game mail anywhere.
Test your new weapons, get used to them.
Change your armorial at the time given
And more..
Same concept as minecraft pocket edition:
Same as always without useless crap and u can play it anywhere with frieds or solo
As simple as that and OOO would not waste time becouse they would use the money that they get from people buying the app to create and hire a hole
..and hire a hole section of designers aside from SK to take care if the app without making the update of the pc version slower
Sighs*
Not sure if this will work, but you should ask the devs. The answer lies with them.
What Sky said, only OOO knows if it's actually technically possible to make any kind of SK app. Whether it be a full-blown game, or elements from the game like the AH, only they know for sure.
Let the Java dispute begin!
I'll just step out slowly yet dramatically.
