So about lag...

So since the new UI update there has been a noticeably large amount of lag for me and other players, no this is not to bump the ridiculous UI and say that it was a horrible waist of time, but is the lag in connection with it?

Or is it something else?

Because over the past month i have found it much harder to get myself to play spiral knights due to the lag that has become well lets just say, as bad as when the Roarmulous Twins were introduced *shudders*. I find the game to be ungodly playable and i feel such a big hindrance to the people that aren't affected as horribly. But honestly where is it coming from? Does anyone have a clear idea?

Now i have come up with a small idea in my mind that i highly doubt to be more of a source then the Ugly UI, what about any stealth patches that may contain new features including the upcoming shield buff update and sprites update. Could the lag be coming from these things as a way to figure how to cut down the lag before the content is pushed into the game or is it merely an idea that's gone astray because of obsessive over thinking?

Either way i find the lag to be another major disappointment within this game. It is such a finicky thing, and yet a major problem. Now i have tried to do everything i can on my end in order to get the game to run smoothly, but alas if they had worked i would not have wrote this.

Some of the things i have tried are (but not limited to):
Re-downloading the game
Updating Java and Flash (whether it would make any difference heck if i know)
Turning down all my settings on the game
Using Task Manager in order to close everything but the game, and put it onto a higher priority
Resetting my internet connection
and some other not so important things.

Now I was before the event of a new UI being dropped on our legs to where we have to saw them off and learn how to walk without them, able to run Sk on High setting perfectly fine with no problem!~!~!~!

So whats going on? Could this also possibly have to do with the servers that OOO is currently using?

But in more of a relevant way does anyone have the same experiences as i do or share the same frustration?

Does anyone have any more suggestions as to something that might help me fool around with the game in order to conquer this beast of a lag?

Does anyone have an opinion?

Please feel free to discuss.

Enjoy~

"The problem is in your end. Stop blaming OOO." - All the forumers.

That's what are you going to get replied, and they won't even give a valid reason, just a freaking blabb... And to make the way easier and shorter for you, there is no fix, nor OOO will make a new server, nor OOO will ask SEGA to investigate the current servers, nor you will get help from here. The only thing you can do is contact your ISP, and see if there is a problem. If there is, then congrats, you can fix it. If there isn't, oh well... You're screwed.

"So since the new UI update there has been a noticeably large amount of lag for me and other players"

For nearly every single content update to-date, someone has come out and said this blatantly false line.

@Hexzyle:
Mind you prove how is that statement blatantly false?

@ Blue-Elephant

How did you used to play? Have you tried matching those settings?

Did something new happened in your local network (new software using network connection, new router? new ISP?)

Have you tried on another PC on the same network?

Where do you lag? In the lobby before choosing your char? Or anytime there is animation?

Have you tried changing server? (you need to load the next depth for it to "reset" or restart the game)

So whats going on? Could this also possibly have to do with the servers that OOO is currently using?

I doubt that it's the case, sadly :S

@ Dragneel people that seeks help in a calm and polite way always get help... And after trying to help and being insulted you kinda walk away from those people and let them rage in a corner because whenever you try to help them, they feel offended that it's "their" problem and not ours... since we never experienced it we cannot know how to fix it, obviously...

@Shamanala

To start off i'll answer all your questions and then get to previous comments.

"How did you used to play? Have you tried matching those settings?"
I Used to play on a laptop, which is odd because im on a more power-full Desktop and im connected straight to my internet not by Wifi but by cord.
When i used to play on my laptop i would never experience lag at all, the most lag i suffered ever was *shudders* Roarmulous Twins when they had come out. But now like i said i have had the privilege of getting an actual desktop. But for all purposes my desktop has ran fine for the past 6 months ive had it, and I've never run into a problem like this.

"Did something new happened in your local network (new software using network connection, new router? new ISP?)"
As for this i have not had any software changes or any new kind of router, as for the ISP im not so sure something i could probably look into i would guess. But i would have to find out how to do this as well.

"Have you tried on another PC on the same network?"
Yes!, Actually i have. i tried on my laptop to run it and play but i ran into the same problem, and yes it was the same network.

"Where do you lag? In the lobby before choosing your char? Or anytime there is animation?"
The only time i actually lagged was during game-play down in the clockworks, im actually fine everywhere else, I haven't tried lock down though. But running around haven or in the guildhall seems flawless.

"Have you tried changing server? (you need to load the next depth for it to "reset" or restart the game)"
If you mean fighting through the lag down to the next depth, then yes i have and sadly it gets no better, unless you meen changing havens or something within the options then no i haven't.

@Dragneel

Not to be rude or anything but im more then happy that your wrong about this,

"The problem is in your end. Stop blaming OOO." - All the forumers.

So far at least I have had someone willing to help, well then there is Hexzyle, but i don't know if that's because i stated something about the UI or because of the horrendous lag.

In any case i thank you for the comment at least knowing that your just giving it to me straight and more then likely true, as i dont even think there is a problem with my ISP, then again who knows. :/

@Hexzyle

As for your post, honestly all i can say is that you never know, no company is perfect enough to convince me that they have checked off anything, not to mention i have talked to others in my shoes they have agree'd with me and on some things even disagree'd with me. But that's mostly on the cause not that the lag isn't there. These people are all as capable as myself to try and fix the problem as well. So saying that it's blatantly false, is something that i would have to say, I beg to differ.

But then again I don't yet understand if your talking about the update or the actual in-game lag.

Thanks for the comments and any or all help~

@ Blue-elephant I *finally* explained in detail (thanks to google, *highfive it*) to dragneel and shidara why they may lag and it seems you may be one of those specific case, let me link it Found it! - just scroll down to my last post...

Last test: Try your laptop on a connection that is certified and confirmed to not lag on SK to pinpoint if it's in your laptop/home network configuration the problem or not.

If your laptop works fine on another connection then it's your connection, if at your friend home you have the same problem then it's probably your region bandwidth that is faulty... or the mapping

The internet is like a huge web and you starts at one corner, reach a branch (MAN) that redirect you to another branch section (MAN or WAN) up until you get to where you *want* to be... Sometimes (depending on your location) your route will be direct and other times you will be redirected due to on-going traffic, you get merged with the traffic rather than using the shorter routes...

It's really hard to explain -_-

Edit: A good way of seeing it would be to spill water on the grounds and see the path it takes to go from the top of a hill to the bottom of the lake. If there is more water one way it will be dragged more that way... Like if you are a drop of water in a cup of water that spilled on the ground, you take a certain path according to where you land and what's next to you. If you drop in a remote location you might not even move. While if you drop with 90% of the water, the flow will take you and drag you along the way... whether you wanted to go down or left or right doesn't concern them though...

My lag (both latency and frames) have gotten better over the last year, not worse. Not being able to prove something is consistent displays that it is false.
