A real use for all that leftover heat.

We all know how we run Firestorm Citadel 42 times a week with nothing to heat because we're all boring like that. Scientific analysis have concluded that 140% of all generated heat is unused. That's a lot of wasted heat, isn't it? What should we do with this leftover heat? Well, we've got one place where it's overflowing. We don't need the heat here. Where is it needed, then? Where it's underflowing, of course! Is that even a word? I don't know!

I've spent four years on the field, helping those in need all across and incross Cradle. I've been to everything from remote Stranger villages to the great colony, helping those in need. It might not have paid much or at all, but bringing smiles to others is enough of a reward to me. I even adopted a Mewkat once after carrying it out of a fire in a Clockwork Passage. Enough about my travels though, let's get to the point.

The place in greatest need of help on and in all of Cradle is without a doubt the Emberlight orphanage. Thanks to the efforts of the order, they managed to make it through the last two winters, but what about before we landed? Seven years ago, the winter was extremely harsh and two Wolver babies perished in the cold. A true tragedy. That wasn't the first time it happened but hopefully it will be the last if we decide to act now! What I'm proposing is that all Knights are equipped with a heat container. If no gear is heated, heat will be put in this container. Upon returning to Haven, the heat container is emptied and the heat is sent to Emberlight. Of course, all leftover heat shouldn't be sent to the Emberlight orphanage, we don't want to repeat the Almirian tragedy. The orphanage isn't the only place in need of heat in Emberlight and there are plenty of other places in Cradle that are in need of heat. From Emberlight, the heat could be redistributed to reach these places. Let's do something for the good of all living creatures, fellow Knights!

I was thinking that if you generate too much heat without having anything to use it on, you simply catch fire.

This is an option as well.

Oooh, brilliant! You can

Oooh, brilliant! You can rent the container for a modest 500 energy per month, which gives you the satisfaction of having done a good deed and, as a little bonus, peace of mind against overheating your weapons.

I disagree, I think the container should be free but also obligatory. I don't feel that it's right to force people to pay for charity work.

if you donate something for charity, you expect to be paid back? I don't.

Bright, did you notice that

Bright, did you notice that the opening post does not describe any gameplay mechanics, or that the other two treat the idea of weapons overheating and going all Fang of Vog as something other than obscerd? /e drops the anvil

Krakob, if it's free then where's the resources gonna come from to make these things? The simplest way to start would be to partner with some one experienced in this industry who can provide a turnkey solution. It's not like these things can just be instantiated for free!

Edit: I just did a bit of preliminary research on such turnkey solutions. It looks like a realistic estimate can be 750 energy per month lease, or 1800 energy to outright buy the hardware.

I agree with geosmin. They

I agree . They should make it that u can purchase a "container" to store heat and use in on other weapons later. However, I do think that u should pay for one because I highly doubt that they will make it free because then it would just mean they would lose money "eg, lazy people who cant be bothered to heat 3 and 4 star weps, just pay for the 5 star item straight away.

Im not sure whether it would be better to purchase a cheap but monthly container (like trinket slot) or just a expensive permanent one

Instead of spending money to store extra heat now, you could buy a heat amplifier and gain more heat tomorrow, fulfilling all your needs in a day or two.

The only benefit of the container is the instant effect of using it. But I assume it's also limited, while an amplifier could potentially give more heat per energy spent provided you have the time to play a lot while it's active.

Putting a price to this is difficult.

@Geosmin
Really? Dang, that's a lot. I guess we can't make them free, then...

@Parripoo
How do you think the orphaned Chromas feel about that? They're dependent on external heat sources, they're cold blooded. Look a little gremlin knocker in the eyes and tell them that you'd rather have your heat just in case you'd have more gear to heat than keeping the Knocker warm during the colder months of the year. Do it, I dare you.
