You can't bid higher than a buyout. It's against the rules in any auction. How would you like it if you bid the buyout price and someone else got it?

Bid accepted.
Buyout Price is an offer a seller CAN accept if offered.
It is not a mandatory action. Check auction rules if u like.

What the heck...

What is the point of a buyout price if the item does not need to be sold if someone decides to bid buyout. Where are these auction rules that you speak of. I don't see how someone can buyout and then you change the buyout price to something higher.

buy out is still an offer,

buy out is still an offer, which is not something mandatory.
The seller may accept it. this discussion is over im accepting the bid that is it.
You can check the rules on your own if your interested.

You keep refering to the rules, where are they?

If you're going to do something like this, at least be gracious enough to tell me where these rules you keep talking about are. I'm sure many other people would like to know something this important for future bidding.

Ok, I just looked up the rules, I guess the discussion continues

Off of wikipedia

# Buyout auction is an auction with a set price (the 'buyout' price) that any bidder can accept at any time during the auction, thereby immediately ending the auction and winning the item.[20] If no bidder chooses to utilize the buyout option before the end of bidding the highest bidder wins and pays their bid.[20] Buyout options can be either temporary or permanent.[20] In a temporary buyout auction the option to buy out the auction is no longer available after the first bid is placed.[20] In a permanent buyout auction the buyout option remains available throughout the entire auction until the close of bidding.[20] The buyout price can either remain the same throughout the entire auction, or vary throughout according to preset rules or simply at the whim of the seller.[20]

Nowhere in the entire buyout auction description does it says the seller may choose to accept the buyout option if he wants. Stop making things up.

if anything

I'd just want other bidders to know that you are a greedy, unscrupulous sneak; I could really care less about the item.

so, in light of that,

Greed is good as the saying

Greed is good as the saying goes =) thanks. as for the above comments the seller didnt need to accept the offer it was all in his or her choice to accept or not the buyout from when the auction was posted was 10k but suddenly changed it to 6k. it was obvious that the person wants the best price for it, I myself lost a bid same way on another divine avenger weeks ago over same technicality but lessoned learned, they arent the first to do something like this either. search the forums its pretty common if u want a item shell out for it if u dont want it enough move along and try for another or outbid me ~_^

In all fairness, the point of

In all fairness, the point of a Buyout price is as an option for a player to say, "I don't wanna wait longer, I don't wanna risk the auction going to ridiculous prices, I want this item now for a guaranteed price". An honest auctioneer will honor this buyout price even if someone offers a higher price later on. That's like me declaring someone the winner of an auction, but then selling the item to a higher bidder before the actual trade takes place.

In real auctions it works the same way. Once a buyer meets the buyout price, the sale is finalized. To then sell to a higher bidder is a breach of contract. The most obvious example is any ebay auction with a buy now price. Once you click buy now, that item is yours, even if someone comes along later willing to pay twice the price.

I am disappointed that you would resort to such methods Evie, considering I've bought your items before. How would you like it if I bid up all your auctions to ridiculously high prices so no one else can win, then decide after auction ends that I don't want it anymore? By your rules I'm not "required" to pay you after winning, it's simply an "option" for me.

Please end this auction and give the item to penguin as you should have done from the beginning. Otherwise me and my guildmates will no longer be interested in any of your future auctions.

I did not know the value of this item until the bidding actually stared and i got bought out.
True i could have done more research but i did not so that is my fault. However, Rinato and Swordsaint also want this item.
If i sold it to Eggy, it would not be fair to Rinato and Swordsaint because they will be punished for my mistakes.
If they are both ok with me selling to Eggy at 6K CE then im game. However if they object then, it would be unfair of me to
sell it to Eggy. Since ur all about fairness, I presume this course of action should satisfy everyone.

Then learn from your

Then learn from your mistakes. It isn't about being fair for everybody 'After' someone buys the avenger out. Sure, fairness is good when the auction is still going, but like Tsuyoi said you have to respect your prices. "If they are both ok with me selling to Eggy at 6K CE then im game." - Other bidders don't have any say in dictating a price good enough for you. It's your buyout that you set up yourself and increasing a buyout is, excuse me, greedy of you.
Note : I'm not defending any bidder in this auction, this is something I would like to say for ALL auction threads about pricing, not just this one
