I see a rage post talking about a weapon that anyone and everyone can get. Why don't you get your own Flourish and "cheat" yourself?

I hope you are joking, because you need to explain everything, not just ask for it. ._.
2 things:
1) Put this in Suggestions place
2)*cough*putsome*cough*peircingprotectionon*cough*actuallyreadtutorials*cough*anddontequipeverynewthingyouget*cough*readstats*cough*.
Sorry, sore throat, so, I hope you are joking.
@Owao: auto target. Just because everyone can cheat, doesn't make it ok to do so.
Auto-Target isn't cheating.
..what I don't get is that all the "pros" who don't use it pretty much have incredible UVs.
Whoever thinks UVs are less cheating then Auto-Target, then you're dead wrong.
Another reason Auto-Target is in the game (watch this great video, trust me it's cool):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EitZRLt2G3w
This shows the NEED for auto-target in Lockdown, though AT isn't exactly a Noob Tube.
The difference is that in prívate servers people get banned for using it.
I understand the need of balance, is the same OOO did with hearth trinkets, but At least we should have the OPTION of joining a random/GvG without AT.. Something like "expert/hard" arena/mode.
Maybe if they do that.. I'll have to join the AT servers to have fun or see "old opponents" again... But i rather have the option.
Flourish... Get a brandish turn on AT and spam, any noob/new player can kill that way.
I think OOO should grant everyone every request ever made EVER! It's the right thing to do, right? I'm sure it'd be so balanced!
Thrillaus made that suggestion and several players agreed to that, was one of the best suggestions i've seen for LD.
I think that all things aside, Ranger hit the nail on the head posting that video. That video explains why there are some items / options in the game that are "cheaper" than others. This thread got derailed to an off-topic conversation, but I'm hopping on the bandwagon.
In that video Rangerwill posted, it commented about Call of Duty. Which leads me to a perfect analogy with Auto Target. When you first get into all the Call of Duty's, you're only allowed certain game types until you reach a high enough level where you can play them all. A playlist named Hardcore, where the UI is disabled, and everyone's health is substantially lowered. Hardcore is only meant for the players who know how to play the game, and have been playing it enough to understand what to do. While the low level players (Using Auto Target) can get enough skill needed to be able to play in the Hardcore playlist (players without Auto Target).
If you played CoD PC competitively, which I did for 4+ years. All the games are scrims on Hardcore, or its on Promod, a special mod made for competitive matches. (Google it if you don't know what it is.)
Lets be completely honest, when we see a new player in T3 lockdown, using a level 4 ash tail, they're pretty much the easiest thing that comes to free damage. There has to be something that gives them even a slight chance of competing with veterans of the game. I think that Auto Target was an excellent idea to be used for low level players, just learning the links of the game. Because with out it, they would be running the same missions day in and day out, knowing that if they dare queue up for Lockdown they would just keep dying. Which would then lead to quitting the game due to boredom. In every game, there has to be something where the newer player stands a chance and is not always dominated.
TL;DR - Watch Rangerwillx's video he posted, it will give you a new perspective on why some things are implemented in the game, unfair or not. It's to to keep people playing, and not movivated to quit because there is no fun in playing it.
@Ranger:Yes, I understand that auto target as a concept, or some substitute for it (like polaris) is necessary to give new/bad players a chance to get some hits off on veteran/good players. But the problem is, in CoD "pros" don't use NoobTubes because they are not as good as other weapons. In SK, people still use hammer/polaris/AT at high levels because they are still effective. WRH still makes you more mobile than anyone else, polaris still covers the most area with damage and knockback than anything else, AT still lets you get hits you couldn't humanly make. As for UVs, I don't like the idea of those either.
P.S. I've seen that video.
P.P.S. I use no UVs and no AT. I do use trinkets even though I was against them for the longest time, but in the end I got fed up with having to hit someone twice as many times to kill them. I'm actually trying to use trinkets as little as possible in T2, but in T3 I know it's hopeless.
P.P.P.S. I use Vog in T3.
@Snarkey: Like Feller said, there are two solutions for preventing vets from crushing noobs. Solution 1: spammy weapons. Solution 2: Ranked matches. I prefer solution 2.
EDIT: That video also talks about "FOO strategies". Right? I think the "noob-friendly" weapons in SK are too close to that. They stay effective for too long.
Since the original thread was pretty much useless i'll hop on that bandwagon too.
I am completely okay with some new player using AT in lockdown,
it doesn't matter because when you're experienced enough you'll win from AT noobs anyway.
It only starts getting on my nerves when the full 5* skolver with Penta's and UVs keeps AT combo'ing the game into hell.
There needs to be a way to get in, but you also need to get out of that beginner mode and that is sadly lacking sometimes.
As for feller's comment, for once we agree: Thrillhaus made the thread of threads on lobbies and it is an idea that deserves all praise.
We do deserve to have an option.
Feyi
I agree in 100%, but still, High end players NEEDS options to keep LD in a competitive level.
If not people will keep creating ways to have fun leaving guilds aside (violent LD), players aside (no-AT tournaments) and increasing bad relationships in a Java game.
Just like COD, L4D 1-2, Battlefield and others, people remove manually this features with CFG's to make the game 100% pure skill.
Don't remove it.. Just give us an OPTION to join a game without it..
FF guy
Get a Polaris and spam like hell.
Lockdown just needs to be a standalone game because I don't think Nick intended for this to become so skill-intensive and take away from the meat of the game.
It does sometimes seem like the only way to balance LD would be to disconnect it from the main game. The problem with that is, when you take the link to your persistant SK character away, LD becomes fairly boring. It's just a generic point-capture minigame. The connection to SK and the ability to bring in whatever you've stockpiled from PvE is what makes it that much more interesting. How would you determine who gets what gear? Loadouts? Classes? UVs? Tiers? Guild Matches? Accessories? Anything else you could think of in LD that's not core game mechanics (walking, attacking, etc)?
Have great mechanic, fresh gameplay, and a lot of future.
And as far as I know, unique in the market.
We just need OPTIONS!!!!
Inside SK, LD is 9/10 of a game. All it's missing is balance.
If you take the SK out of LD, it becomes 1/2 of a game. It loses its uniqueness.
@Klipik's first post: Ignoring everything else that has been said, I don't know why people complain so much on it. I have ping, I should know better than at least 50% of the community what it is like to be struck by Flourish combos with double the range over and over, yet I live with it. It's annoying, yes, but personally if I am that annoyed I'd quit. Go play something else, whichever... Aside, what others have said prove their point, so not much comment.
Also, this thread should be graveyarded anytime now.
..The funny thing is that we got a civilized argument going in this thread..
@Klipik Before I saw your post, I didn't doubt that this was going to be an answer.
And that is maybe the problem with AT.
But you're right in saying that PvE today is way too dependant on "FOO" stratagies, like charge attacks, polaris spamming, etc.
Erm.. make sure to hav like 500 people playing LD at all times before putting in all these options..? with 50 people playing with 10 different options, it will be the same as BN.. so think before posting dumb stuff about "AA only option" and "skill only option" and dividing between player experience lvls from "newb" to "hardcore"...
@ Klipik Post 13
"Ranked" Matches? What is dis LoL now? People are gonna be like "I'm Diamond tier 1. Suck it." or "I have 2200 elo." or "Oh guess what, I'm in Challenger tier. I'm gonna become a Pro gamer and play in the MLG!" Imagine. all teh bragging rights man. LOL.
I'm sorry I can't imagine this game turning into this. xD
@Zade: Theoretically, they wouldn't even have to tell you your rank. The system would just use it as a behind-the-scenes way to keep players of the same skill level together, and not make teams too unbalanced.
@Ranger: PvP too.
they will never implement an SK lounge because overly skilled players from creating a huge CE sink
with CE translating to steam games and dota 2 items--you can imagine how the SK economy would fare if they implemented a 1v1 arena challenge system with CE betting
vaguely on-topic
@Zaderrules
I can. Wouldn't be the first f2p game to turn competitive. If Gunzonline had some decent support it would have been one of the best competitive games in existence. I still think lockdown should have been standalone
edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao1rTYocVj8
It may not look like much to the average guy but let me just tell you...the dude is doing 12 key presses per jump and jump cancel. I don't have nearly that level of twitch so I had to play e-style and just make strong judgement calls--kind of what I'm doing with recon. So yeah, this game is no different in the limits (or lack thereof) of twitch-based skill.
Is unique on the market and the smoothness of the gameplay gives it the chance (well supported of course) to turn it competitive and masive.
Example
Most of you know Bethesda and their big games like Fallout, TES and others sandbox rpg.
But have you heard of "The Precursors" ??
Is a sandbox RPG from Rusia. Star wats style (a univers sandbox, upgrade able weps, different mechas, upgradeble battleship to FLY from one planet to another and much more crap) that came out with no sucess at all. In most games webs is still in ETA, just because was poorly managed.
One day I found it... Was pure beauty, nothing to envy to Bethesda games, a master piece for sandbox lovers like me.
Lockdown is the same.. A diamond waiting to become a masterpiece of PVP MMO.
@ Neo + others
Wait.... so that guy is pressing all those keys... but he just like... hugging the wall? o_O Dafuq. I mean whether twitching/pressing alot of keys matters or not, I think they should at least know and attempt to respond to what's going on in the environment...
So what's next? Are there gonna be like 6 Man teams playing for teams like Azubu/CLG/Curse? Get a gaming house? Get a team coach? (LOL) Get sponsors? Making a living off of playing SK? Saywut.
I don't think SK will ever go that direction because it just wasn't designed for that kind of thing. I would like for someone to take the concept of lockdown and make something out of it though.
Lockdown just needs to be a standalone game because I don't think Nick intended for this to become so skill-intensive and take away from the meat of the game.
It exist...
It's called Defense of the Ancients who was originally a Custom Map on Warcraft III and evolved into the massive Multiplayer Online Arena Battle game, which made is own genre.
League of Legends (LoL)
Heroes of Newerth (HoN)
And DotA 2 (successor of DotA as a full game)
are your choices...
Because let's face it you grinded thousands of hours to get your gear (runes/champs/skills) and you can get better via in-game options (AD/AP/tank/jungler)
This game was not intended to derail off PvP and the devs are trying EVERYTHING they can to make it go back into the PvE line and someone wants to turn it into PvP (Battle Sprites and Dash & Bash got imediatly asked into PvP)
Personally I think PvP will inevitably kill SK because it will create a gap between player that the dev could not fill, they will stick with one group and the other side will fall apart, dragging the other party along with it...
That's the future of SK if people get stuck up on LD and don't enjoy CW a lil more -_-
@shamanala
Yes, if I could actually find an DIFFICULT arena or face a DIFFICULT monster. C42 is a breeze, and so are the other danger missions.
We don't really have a choice, unless someone finds a way to make PvE more attractive. Right now it's just FSC spam all day every day, and if you do anything else, you just have a nagging feeling that you could be making more money right now. Plus, PvE enemies have easily learnable attack patterns, CW levels have easily memorized layouts, tiles and spawn locations, and knights being too powerful makes all of it downright too easy. Except for fiends. And danger missions, but in a lot of places they are only harder because they got crammed with artificial difficulty. Bullet Hells, hordes of tightly packed monsters, infinitely swarming enemies. And even, in the case of GitM, tightly packed hordes of endlessly-respawning, bullet-hell-generating enemies.
I do agree, though, that they shouldn't focus too much on PvP. PvE is the core of the game (no pun intended) and it's vitally important to keep that core intact. PvE is in need of balancing as badly as PvP, and it has those glaring problems I mentioned earlier. But once those are fixed, and the balance between PvE and PvP is restored, it would be good to add more on to PvP. LD has great potential to be an incredibly solid, fun game, or even a competitive kind-of-e-sport.
The only problem with possibly separating it like in the case of DotA, is that SK and LD are made by the same developer, who still has to make money. How would you monetize something like LD? It would be incredibly hard to do without making it Pay2Win.
Don't mess with me man. I know what those games are. Lockdown is nothing like them, as Lockdown requires more twitch than judgement. It's a blend of MOBA and Fighting games that you just don't see very often--if at all.
no.
