This is gonna be another one of those really short RPs I randomly come up with when I'm bored.  It's gonna be free-form, so you know the rules.  If not, I'll teach you along the way.

The Scenario:

A host of all kinds of creatures, ranging from men to krakens to mermen, lived together on a massive supercontinent: Veridia.

Although there was usually a big war between two races, as well as other conflicts, the people in Veridia were, for the most part, harmonious.  Conflicts were catalysts for change, and change brought up many improvements for the people of the land and sea.  For the most part, Veridia was a perfect world to be living in.

That is, until The Comet arrived.

The Comet, as the name implied, was a massive chunk of ice and rock from the stars.  At the time, no one was sure how exactly did the comet find it's way to the planet, but the ancient scholars did realize it was no natural event.  Nay, something must have caused it, for there was no other time recorded that a comet such that had came crashing down.  Quite the intriguing enigma, really. Some say that a band of gods had descended in a violent tumult, others think of it nothing more than a disaster, and yet still others think it would be something different entirely...

Unfortunately, all the technological and economical advances brought on by the ancient Veridia scholars had been buried underwater.  The occasional merman would salvage a small device or two, but the collapse of civilization, and any hope of interracial cooperation, had rendered any major architectural project improbable.

Since the comet's fall, the water levels of Veridia have risen high enough to consume millions of square miles of the supercontinent's land, leaving only a couple of islands out of the water.  This killed off many of the terrestrial creatures from the lack of territory, but the sea creatures also did not favor this change. The water itself, once rich and easy to survive in, was now stale, dirty, and inhabitable.  The land's few and precious plants were the only filters that could repel such a poison.

On top of that, the weather in the deep was random and dangerous.  Maelstroms sucked up entire schools of fish, typhoons wiped the islands of any animal there.

Thus, any land, regardless of the creature, was considered extremely valuable.

Six generations since the first crash into Veridia, and a band of seafarers have come to settle upon the small islands that are Veridia's former mountains.  Discoveries and technologies are to be found, as well as the fame that one gets occasionally for doing so.

Prologue:

Overhead the 189 islands of  Western Veridia, storm clouds loomed ominously.  The occasional pocket of light broke through this heavy, thick blanket but only for a brief, elusive moment.

Beneath the silver canvas, dozens of boats, rafts, and other water-faring vehicles were anchored at a sandbar, where everyone had their supplies lain out in front of them.  The windless air and the choppy waters meant that there wouldn't be a storm that day, but no wind either.  Thus, the travelers were going to canoe and raft their way to each island.  Some of them hundreds of yards long, others only an eighth of a square mile in size. Some had fertile, loamy soil.  And yet again, others were sharp enough to cut through leather.   However, there was plenty to choose from, with ample time at hand...

---

Day 2

Night time passes by rather uneventfully, but you do hear an occasional chirp or two from something in the distance. Rather, it was a roar, and a flash of flames warms your body. This occurs very once in several hours, and all the sleepers are left alone, besides the warm fire...

Everyone simaultaneously wakes up at six AM, as something huge in the water erupts. From five miles away, a massive creature the size of a small mountain erupts high into the air, raining down small storms as it does so. It appears to be hunting, or in combat of a sort. Hopefully, it wasn't the rest of the expedition that was in combat with that thing. The head of the massive creature finally appears through the clouds, a giant stone head of monsterous proportions, large enough to eat twenty galleons lined up. When it lands, the earth will shake, and undoubtedly the islets of West Veridia will be onset by a torrent of water.

Story Goals:

Travel to an island, and make that your home island.  Describe it however you wish.  You can also live together with another person on the island. [Story advancement] ----------> Get to a safe place, and brace yourself for a massive earthquake, as well as the ensuing torrents.

Alternative Goals:

Introduce your character via indirect / direct characterization. [Self-Improvement] ---> Describe character actions with metaphors

Live on a boat instead of an island. [Story advancement] ---> Get in the water and try to swim it out.

Hunt your first sea-animal. [Character advancement] ---> Study the creature. Perhaps you might hunt it later.

Live on an island farthest away from the initial group (islands are about a quarter-mile from each other) [Alternate story path] ---> Kill the beast.

~~~
The Application:
Name:
Race (Isoran, Elf, Human, Etc.):
Bio:
Belongings / Inventory (2*-3* at start. Weapons can be smithed or looted as time goes on):
YOU CAN PUT IN AN APPLICATION AT ANY TIME.
~~~

Alright, a quick Q&A:

Q: Goals?  I have to follow goals?

A: Not necessarily.  Goals are the usual recommended tasks for the day, but it's not necessary to have one completed.  There is no reward for completing a goal, other than to advance the story a little bit.

Q: When / Where do I start?

A: If you haven't made your application yet, please fill it out in the RP thread for approval.  Once approved, you may join in as a newcomer to the RP, meaning that you will start off with no island (don't worry, there are 189 islands, about 10 occupied by NPCs, and a couple more by other players).

Q: What is the main objective of the game?

A: Besides the goals, there are long-term achievements to complete in the RP.  There are hidden technologies in the water, beasts to hunt, and so forth.  These will only open themselves to opportunity if it's possible for the player to achieve.

Q: Did you add in a posting format?

A: Yes. You can post all you want below, but I'll be editing the top post for each time-frame's goal. Check back on it every now and then to find a new goal.

Q: Does it have to be Spiral Knights related?

A: Fortunately, no! Use your imagination for this one!

Name: Joshua

Race : Human

Bio:

Waking up on the sandy isolated shores of a deserted island, the young man had found himself amongst scattered remains of a boat wrecked from the jagged edges of rocks forming a barrier around the island. The first thought that came to him was the question of his whereabouts, but then something disturbing bothered him- he tried and tried, yet he couldn't recall a single memory about who he was and why he is here. His final conclusion was that he had been shipwrecked- and suffers amnesia as a result of the incident.

Other than only knowing his name which seems to be quite odd, Joshua was left alone in the island with no supplies or any preparations to survive. He thought of building a raft to escape from the island but after seeing what happened to the boat he might used, Joshua had planned to stay for a while in the island. But his final decision is left hanging in front of him, waiting for Joshua to answer if he truly will stay in this island or to escape from it.

Belongings / Inventory : With little Joshua could salvage from what was left from his boat, he managed to acquire a perfectly fine pocket knife and also a slightly damaged gun which could be essential for his survival- sadly it requires gunpowder which Joshua does not own at all. He also had found a somehow undamaged cellphone who might be his, the battery is dead so there will be no means of using this cellphone for now.

Additional notes

I forgot to mention this is more of a magitech / medieval type of environments. Guns can be used from Spiral Knights, but most of the other types of firearms are not available. Skye could do a Blaster from the Knight, and Joshua could find an old musket or something but don't be expecting real-world bullets and gasoline anytime soon.

Unless you guys really want me to bring up Tavern Between the Worlds from an earlier topic.

*sigh...* I thought you already had it...

Name: Dewca

Race: Isoran

Appearance: Short, black hair. Cyan personal colour. Very agile.

Bio: Always deals with things with a smile, weather it's small or not. Quite cheerful and always likes a laugh though puts a serious face on if somethings needs to be dealt with. Rarely over-reacts from little things and gets quite cranky. Other wise is quite a happy-chappy! He was born to a loving and caring family but his mother died in a fire when he was 6. This scarred him for life but he has now passed this and now lives a good life with his father. However this makes Dewca very paranoid to fire. He is very good at combat with swords and quite intelligent, but give him a gun and you'll immediately regret it!

Belongings: Magic hood and cloak (scarf accessory), Shock-burst Brandish, Swift flourish, Owllite shield, Wetstone pendant (is this allowed?).

The Beginning...

GM's Comment : For this ONCE, I'll comply with your bios. You guys didn't bother to read the introduction, where we started off on a fleet. The islands come later supposedly. Well, I guess you guys can learn over time...

/laughsatyourmistakemuahahahaha! >:D

~~~
Prologue
A fleet of about 50 ships come across the horizon, entering within the view of the first of the 189 islets of Western Veridia. On this fleet are travelers, merchants, and settlers of all kinds, all from different races. Everyone here seems weathered by the travel, and land is just what they needed...
Except for the fact that already TWO of the islets (Thanks to our first two players' blunder) have been inhabited. A couple of the captains send messanger hawks back and forth in confusion, obviously confused as to how were two islets were already claimed, as shown by the two columns of smoke from above...
@DEWCA :
Your captain of the ship, a heavyset, short, and bearded man grunts in frustration.
"Alright me laddies! It seems as though our fame has already been stolen by other groups. Nevertheless, maybe we should go take an island or two, make a port there to rest up," he shouts, his voice thick with an accent of an exotic group of northerners...
There isn't much to do right now, unless you plan on exploring the ship.
@Sky :
Kill all those mutants...
Hallucinations enter your mind, and you begin swinging your sword wildly around yourself. It's been several days since you've first arrived to the West Veridian islets, and you've finally run out of water. The spring has run dry in this season, leaving you with little to no water left in your system. Dreams of heroic antics flood your mind, and you start to see wild falacies as indistinguishabe from reality as the island itself. Well, at least you've got that Knight to feed on...
Despite it being blazing hot today in the sun, you've got a bonfire urning, to keep those damn mutants away from yourself.
@Infernus-Dragneel :
How many days has it been now? You can't remember when was the first night you've stayed on this island, and you highly doubted it was going to be the last. Fish and fresh water are plentiful here, so survival isn't such a hard thing to do (excluding the occasional sea-predator). However, actually getting rescued proves to be a difficult task. The ships you've seen pass by are unwilling to board even close, as the barrrier reefs show the shallowness of the water. A rowboat would struggle here, even under the weight of one person. Maybe, for the time being, you can...
Hunt, Create a signal fire, and whatever you want.
Bloody Arms and A Minor Distraction
The fire flickers loudly, crisp sounds emanating from it. Set by it was a rack, filled with bloody arms. A hand set on the handle spun it, evenly roasting the skin.
In front of the fire, was a boy. Next to him was a sword the shape of maybe an ax. A breeze set in, blowing through his flaxen blonde hair. He eased the few strands that flown with the wind, and turned his attention back to the rack. The arm was now fried golden brown, with few drips of blood still marinating the skin. He stopped spinning the rack, and picked up the arm. He bit through, despite the thought of cannibalism.
Whatever it takes to survive..., he thought. He bit more, and soon he was halfway through the piece.
Then, a rustle came from around him. Maybe it was from the forest, maybe somewhere else, echoing, he didn't know. Instinctively, he dropped his meal and grabbed the sword, as it glowed suddenly with a gentle yellow. From his back he pulled a somewhat shield of sorts, it looked as if it was gathering energy.
The rustling came again, only louder this time. He took a stance, and readied the glowing sword.
The rustling continued to come, until it was as if it was behind him. He turned around, braced for impact, raised his sword, and threw it on the ground. An earthquake ensued, but only for a little time. When it stopped, the boy raised up his sword to level, and the bushes in front of him rattled, and a wolf-like animal with horns and a pair of wings, dashed out, wings flapping.
I-its... a wolf?
He loosened his grip on the sword, squinting at the wolf-like animal. It barked, and gaped. Solid red energy began to gather at it's mouth, and as it grew big, the boy braced for impact, with his shield up.
The wolf clasped it's mouth together and a beam shot out at the boy.
~~~

Sorry if it's a little disappointing, Vin, hehe... First time really not expecting what others will write.

Here goes...

I sigh, breathing in the water-laden wind. I look up at the large sails, billowing in the strong gale. I sit on the main deck playing with a small piece of rope, coiling it and uncoiling it, coiling it and then uncoiling it again. I'm at peace, finally able to rest rather than preforming errands for our short stocky captain but we have to stand on guard, almost like stand-by. Always ready to 'turn on'. I sigh once again and push myself to my feet and walk down to the cargo. It's quite dark down here, it's only illuminated by faintly glowing minerals that are stored in rusty, rank chests. I open one and it unexpectedly shoots a jet of dust and cobweb at my face. I cough out dust from my throat and wave my hand in front of my face clearing up a cloud of filth and look down to see whats inside of the chest. I gasp and jump back immediately, tripping my self up in the progress and stare back at the chests contents. Crimsonite.

I lie down in bed and dream... A nightmare.

We are in the house. The fire is burning. The smell is horrible. I am choking but my mother pushes me out the house me out of the house and hurries my father out as well. I look back at my mother but the doorway collapsed. Tears filled my eyes as my mother screams out to me "Be strong!". The house collapses.

You do know that I would be handling the NPCs, right? I can't let anyone have an unfair advantage, so...yeah. I'm letting the wolf continue to exist, but anything else is done by me, and me only. It gets harder to manage if someone is conjuring their own thing that might give them an advantage...

Whatever's happening outside, it's very sudden. Veridia was known for its spontaneous weather...

There seems to be a great panic, and all the crew are ushering down the passengers for a rough ride ahead...

Here we are...

"Wake up," a voice orders. The soft warmth of a hand rests on my shoulder, shaking it gently back and forth. Suddenly, the ship tilts downwards at a steep angle triggering the sense of falling. I sit bolt up right and suddenly slide down the cabin as though the whole ship has turned 90 degrees. My stomach lurches as it tumbles yet again, but this time the opposite way.
"Grab on to something!" A voice shouts from the other side of the cabin.
I turn to see a friend of mine, Seccara, hurriedly turning the door lock and then fumbling for the handle but before she can do this the ship turns yet again with frightening tossing, right and left. I peer out the port hole to find the ship rocking dangerously back and forth. I yelp as the ship seems to jump up from the sea and then fall back again with a muffled splash. I look again to see Seccara finding her luck and clutching the door handle with all her might.
"Hurry up and grab onto something!"She shouts at me again.
I leap across the cabin my fingers scraping the other door's handle but my attempt was quickly ruined as the ship rocked even further back and forth. I spin and tumble onto the ceiling (now the ground) and land on my ankle with a sickening crunch. I yell out with agony and tears stream down my face as I collapse and the ship whirls around. Unexpectedly a hand reaches down and grabs my arm and pulls me up. I look up at my rescuer and find the strained face of Seccara. I smile and give thanks to her before the ship seems to roll around and by back meets a wall. I wince at the pain and try to get up stretching my arm towards the door handle but then the I scream as I look out the port hole and find water rising up rapidly. I find cracks beneath my feet appear and droplets of water soaking through. Then swiftly the door burst open, despite the lock and water gushes through with extreme force. Seccara and I cry out as water fills our mouths. All I remember was myself seeing the ship from a birds eye view and the sensation of rushing towards the sky then a plummeting feeling. My ankle surged with suffering and then darkness engulfed me...

Didn't I ju-

I said I was going to control everything else that isn't your character? Well, I guess I'll have to make an exception yet again (because I know you want a side character too).

~~~
@DEWCA
When you come to, you find yourself on a piece of broken wood. Seccara is asleep, keeping afloat only by hanging her torso over on a nearby board. Many sailors and adventurers have done the same, all exhausted from the ordeal. Crimsonite, chum, and trash is everywhere. You seem to have your own belongings, but little can be said for the others.
While you could spend your time recovering, there are two islets nearby. One, a barren sand bar, is about 40 meters off from you. The other, a lush jungle island, is about a mile away east.
You can see the massive bubbles coming out from under the ocean's depths, signifying the death of your ship. It appears as though the rest of the fleet has taken this warning, and is circling off to another way in. Your crew and yourself are going to have to tough it out.
Oh, I thought Seccara was gonna die...
I awake to find myself half-drowning, half-floating. I hurriedly kick up to the surface, my ankle limp and burning with pain. I flinch and try to ignore it as I paddle to the nearest plank of floating wood and cling to it. I notice Seccara floating on a nearby plank and I kick to her with one leg. I grasp onto her plank creating a bond between hers and mine. I am now panting with exhaustion and my ankle isn't exactly feeling any better. I look up and find 2 islands. One about 40 meters from me with a barren sand landscape and another with a lush, green jungle about a mile east. I splash weakly towards the sandy one which is my only real choice because of my disability in one of my legs. I glance over my shoulder and see the others slowly swimming towards the other island. I smile feebly at the others seeing how lucky they are and I finally reach the dry sandy shore and crawl onto the beach. I yank the 2 planks with me, one light and plain, the other heavy with a groaning Seccara on top. I kneel down next to Seccara and yell in her ear,
"Seccara! Can you hear me?"
She mumbles and I sigh at my failure and wait for a few minutes. I eventually see Seccara roll to her side and open her eyes slightly. I say
"Seccara? Are you awake?"
"Dewca? Is that you?" She mumbles back.
"Yeah, it's me."
"Where are we?"
I hesitate then say,
"We're on an island..." I falter again and then finish my sentence, "...Stranded."
She moans and looks up into my eyes and says,
"I feel like death."
I reply, "So do I Seccara, so do I."
======= About 2 hours later =======
I whimper as my ankle tortures me again as I walk the full length of the island trying to find a fresh water source. I am now thirsty and my voice is hoarse from my parched throat. I arrive back at our 'camp' and find Seccara (Who was just sleeping a when I left her) sitting up creating a small fire from out of half of our now-dry wooden planks.
"Where were you? I was looking out for you every where!" She cried out with a tone of concern in her voice.
"I was looking for water." I replied with my raspy, hoarse voice.
"Are you ok?" She asks, her voice now completely forgiving "Your voice sounds a bit rough."
"Yeah, I'm ok. Just a bit thirsty." My voice breaking half way through.
"No, it's more than that! You're almost completely dehydrated!" She yelled, getting up to her feet.
"No, I'm fin-" I can't finish my sentence as she pulls me to the ground. However my ankle gives away and a pained moan escapes from my mouth before I can stop it from worrying Seccara.
She stares at me and I finally I explain about my ankle. She massages it and it feels much better.
I nod my head in weariness and she allows me to fall asleep.
I lie down on the grainy sand and relax.
It appears that the islet itself seems to be larger than you thought. Running about a good ten-thousand square feet in area, it should be big enough to introduce some dirt, rocks, and other articles onto this islet...
But the technology to do so isn't there yet. You've heard legends of ancient Veridia having massive beams of light, transporting objects, regardless of size or weight, to anywhere they wished. Now that you're in the region of Western Veridia, the legend itself seems to be a lot closer...
However, short-term survival is your priority at the moment. You're thirsty, incapacitated, and in the support of your friend. Maybe it isn't a bad idea to start the swim towards the island now, before your energy saps away.
You could return to this little islet later. Who knows what would be under that massive sand bar?
Also, it appears to be noon now. The rest of the fleet has been long out of sight, confirming their departure. As far as you know, the rest of your shipmates are either dead, or at the lush island. Maybe some have already started a rescue effort? Upon further notice, it appears not.
Flooding Thoughts
The wolf clasped it's mouth together and a bright purple beam shot out at the boy. The boy had his shield up, and the swiveling beam projected at him hit the shield's center. The shield had ceased to work then, but, at that moment, the wolf was bent, its wings flapping slowly.
N-now's my chance!, he thought. He quickly raised his sword and smashed it down at the wolf, outright killing it. The wolf had dissipated to thin layers of dust, no more, no less.
The boy fell to his knees. He had dropped the sword, and felt numb.
That's... the second time today...
He looked up the sky, stars twinkling, setting the night view. It was certainly a beautiful sight. Then he set his eyes onto his shield, still not working. It's energy-gathering property had gone, and slowly it was beeping.
"...Is it broken?" the boy asked himself. He hovered his hand over the shield, when it began gathering energy again.
I don't really know about this place... I... I'm here because I want to survive, don't I?...
The boy laid on his back, facing the night sky. Thoughts currently push through each other in his head.
What's gonna happen... to this world?
Hunt, Create a signal fire, and whatever you want.
Day 1
I woke up early when the sun hasn't revealed it's brilliant light, my parched throat had already craved for food which I had been on shortage for a while. Yesterday I managed to find an old journal and also damaged pencil, the writings in it isn't clear anymore but the journal itself is usable. So I decided that I should write down everything I did to keep track of myself, and perhaps, I might even learn something about who I really am.
Day 1
I've seen ships passing the island, I called for help yet they didn't answer. Managed to get some coconuts but still haven't been able to eat it. Now I'm hungry, need to find food.
I closed my journal and took a good luck at the vista, it would be a beautiful view if it wasn't for the rocks and shipwrecks all around it. I squinted my eye to get a better view at the horizon- a ship! I was about to call for help but something inside of me stopped my actions, I knew that the ship won't help me at all, just like the other ships.
"Food," I croaked out, my throat was all dry since yesterday. I haven't been able to get anything from the beach other than those coconuts scattered all over the shore. I tried to crack open few of them using my knife but I didn't make any progress at all, I have to find food fast. Without wasting time, I walked slowly towards the water and squatted down on the cool water to wash my face. The water is still cold as the sun still hasn't made it's appearance at all, I was close to taking a gulp from the salt water but I knew better not to.
I tilted my head a little to the left and I found a school of fish, it was an amazing sight to see many different variety of fish joining together in harmony. "Food," I whispered silently as I sheathed my knife, approaching the prey quietly hoping not to startle it, I couldn't help but to tremble because of the tense. "Got ya!" I screamed as my knife stabbed one of the fish, my face filled with satisfaction of what I had acquired.
Got a fish, not too big but enough to fill me for half of the day.
I closed my book and placed the pencil neatly on top of it, with that done I resumed my attention to the fish being cooked on the bonfire. It was here since yesterday, I accidentally found this abandoned bonfire and a ragged mattress, was someone here once? Whatever had happened to them, that person was already ahead of himself, maybe he did escaped the island...
"Oh right, the fish!" I spoke to myself in surprise as smoke started to appear, I quickly snatched the fish away using the stick and looked at it. It was partially burnt but still eatable. After few minutes waiting for the heat to fly away, I ate the fish and planted the stick on the ground knowing that it might be useful sometime else.
"The sun..." I whispered as the yellow orb finally revealed itself, it was a great sight but I felt a bit tired. I couldn't help but.... to close my eyes... and... sleep...
@Vin = That messed me up/ Anyways, I put it in transition through late afternoon to late night. Um... Didn't he already kill the wolf? Okay, finally 1st Person's PoV. On an unrelated subject, I was watching anime while writing this.
~~~~

Alpha as F--K

I woke up, the bonfire still lit and flickering. It was early dawn, the sun slowly rising from the horizon. Yawning, I also stretch out my body. A refreshing breeze flows by me, my ruffled hair getting untangled in the wind.

I look around, only the foliage and small paths seen. I kicked dust at the bonfire, taking it out. As I prepared to hunt for my breakfast, lunch and dinner altogether, I checked my phone for the time.

5:45 AM

Th-that early?! I thought.

I picked up both my sword and shield, attaching the shield on my arm. I walked on towards one of the small paths, to forage for food, obviously.

~~~
Yaaaaaaaah... This is harder than I thought... I groaned, carrying only a few berries. I was thinking more bigger fruits?
But what a way to explore the island... I've found a few caves, a shoreline, and some more trees. Climbing onto one, I gathered a few more fruits, and at 6:00, I already had breakfast and lunch.
I went back to the shoreline, the waves touching gently at the yellowish-white sand. I sat nearest to the waves, feeling the cold water at my feet. I turned my attention towards my fruits, about two coconuts, three kiwis and a few more I really didn't know about. I grabbed a coconut and cut a circle with my sword. It was hard, but I did it, the milk slowly dripping.
I sipped at the milk, enjoying the sunrise.
MMM! That's some good milk there...
Another one...
Short-term survival is our priority at the moment. We're thirsty and incapacitated. Maybe it isn't a bad idea to start the swim towards the island now, before our energy saps away.
We could return to this little islet later.
Also, it appears to be noon now. The rest of the fleet has been long out of sight, confirming their departure. As far as we know, the rest of our shipmates are either dead, or at the lush island. Maybe some have already started a rescue effort? Upon further notice, it appears not.
This plays through my head again and again as I lie down on the sand, running several thoughts through my head. Should we leave or not? Should we explore or not? What should we do?
Me and Seccara talk quietly to each other casually even though we know that something troubles us. Should we leave or not? Should we explore or not? What should we do? I sigh struggling to get the thoughts out of my mind.
======= 1 hour later =======
After a long lasted debate we have finally decided to leave the island and attempt to swim to the other one in the morning. My ankle feels slightly better and Seccara asks if I want it massaged more. I refuse the offer and discuss on making a raft.
"So we just swim there?" Seccara questioned.
"No, we try and make a raft with some sort of buoyancy," I hold up the the remains of our tattered wood planks and say, "...out of these."
Seccara nods but I can tell she feels uneasy.
"How about your ankle?" She asks.
"Oh, its fine. It doesn't hurt anymore." I lie.
She nods with understanding and I join the remains of the wooden plank together. Thank Vog that they are straight and join perfectly together.
Sh pulls a long piece of twine out of the grimy ocean and ties a tight knot to anchor them together. We work all evening and eventually hold up the finished result. Lying on the rough ground is a raft balanced by a few small stones.
"We'll travel in the morning." I say
"Ok." She replies back.
Silence overcomes the beach and the moon is a glowing white orb in the sky.
I mutter a quick prayer to Vog and fall asleep.
We will depart in the morning.
DAY 2
Day 2
Night time passes by rather uneventfully, but you do hear an occasional chirp or two from something in the distance. Rather, it was a roar, and a flash of flames warms your body. This occurs very once in several hours, and all the sleepers are left alone, besides the warm fire...
Everyone simaultaneously wakes up at six AM, as something huge in the water erupts. From five miles away, a massive creature the size of a small mountain erupts high into the air, raining down small storms as it does so. It appears to be hunting, or in combat of a sort. Hopefully, it wasn't the rest of the expedition that was in combat with that thing. The head of the massive creature finally appears through the clouds, a giant stone head of monsterous proportions, large enough to eat twenty galleons lined up. When it lands, the earth will shake, and undoubtedly the islets of West Veridia will be onset by a torrent of water.
Day 2
"Run."
I opened my eyes in an instance as the sunlight shimmered it's brilliance in all quarter of the island , I looked around to find myself the same time I was when I fell asleep. Did I overslept? I couldn't tell at all but I knew something different was going to happen, and I was correct. I hobbled myself towards the shore of the beach and stood there while focusing my attention to the horizon.
"What on earth..." I mumbled in dread as something big came out of the ocean, it was far from the island but the creature's size itself is enough to send a chill down my spine. What could it be? It then occurred to me that the water had turned into a low tide, I knew what was going to happen next but it was too late to react.
A powerful tremor shook the earth and I was brought down to my knees, without wasting any time I dragged myself towards the higher grounds. As soon as I got back to my feet I rushed myself to one of the closest tree in my range to support my body until the powerful earthquake stops. "Dammit, help!" I screamed out loud as I was brought back and forth by the powerful tremors, my cry for help might not save me at all but at least I was able to stress out the fear contained within me since this morning.
After a while, the earthquake subsided and I rested my back against the tree. But something was off, the feeling of tense hadn't left the air and my body is still shaking. I was then startled by an unusual sound- much like a simple ringtone of a phone, which reminded me of the phone I found on the first day being stranded in this island. I searched my pocket to find the red phone and checked it out, the battery was dead but the phone itself was somehow on- and there was a message...
When the earth rages, the sea shall rise within harmony.
Good luck.
I was puzzled with this message, but what puzzled me even further was that the sender was unknown. It took me a while to finally understood what it really meant, and that was when I decided to turn my back.
______
"Urgh..."
As soon as my I regained my consciousness, my body ached in pain and my body was soaked wet. I looked around the what used to be the beach, the shipwrecks were all scattered all over the place. This must be caused by the before tidal wave from the earthquake, I bent over to grab my soaked journal and flipped over each page to check if it was still usable. Luckily only the cover was wet and not the pages, I opened the next chapter and decided to take this time to write some stuff down.
Saw a rock monster this morning, earthquakes and tidal waves came after that. Weird message on the phone saying riddles that warned me about the tidal wave, driftwood and planks are now all over the island. Don't know what to do now.
After closing the book, I took a deep sigh and looked up on the sky.
Will I survive like this?
______
After a little clean up around the beach, I found myself around the middle of the day where the sun is shining brightly. But after the incident this morning, I couldn't dare myself to take another look at the ocean.
Hungry, have to find food. And did I tell you that I hate the ocean in the first place?
The pencil immediately stopped moving as soon as I got to the end of what I wrote, I stared at the passage and thought about something. Why did I hate the ocean in the first place? Maybe it has something related with my past, but the thought itself ceased as soon as my stomach grumbled in hunger.
"Not the water..." I shook my head slowly, trying to reject my natural instincts to find food. It then occurred to me- about the island, it may had a previous occupant... And maybe whatever deeper inside might hold something that had made that person survive for long.
And with that final decision, I embarked deeper into the island.
______
A miniature rainforest with no animals and even the smallest insects in sight, wonderful.
I slid the Journal into my pocket and took out the phone in exchange, the screen is now blank and there is no way of turning it on. "Huh, maybe the Gods are playing tricks at me," I mumbled quietly and returned the phone back to my pocket. I did remember I have a gun incase of danger, but there is no ammunition at all so maybe it can still be used to scare hostile creatures.
The word 'Antigua' was inscribed on the gun's barrel, it looked like it was just recently written, but by who? The gun itself somehow radiates a raw energy, I don't know how to explain it but it is as if this gun is an ancient relic of forgotten time...
"Yikes!" I yelped quickly as my pocket vibrated unexpectedly, I checked the phone which is still vibrating with it's same ringtone I heard before.
Before men, there were animals.
Before animals, there were mountains.
And before mountains, the water falls and rules over everything.
You're getting close.
"Another one," I shrugged off and return my phone back to my pocket. What could it possibly mean? I know that I can solve this thing but because of the heat and the lack of water, I wasn't able to think straight at all.
"Wait... What?" I gasped in awe, could it be?
Another message was given. Walked deep into forest and found a waterfall.
Thanks to Xxpapaya's poem thread so I came up with this :3 Anyways, nice one, Infernus, I see you really patched some riddles XD
~
Children...?
I walk, then I broke into a run.
Why? There was this... tremor that came from maybe around here? I don't know. But there was part of me that wanted to see what happened, the other part trembling.
My shield was hanging from my arm, and my sword gripped tightly by my hand. I run faster, yet not knowing where I'm going. Wait, what?
"What am I doing...?" I ask myself. I drop my sword. "What am I even doing here? I was just living a normal life when--"
Do not stop, Child. Do not face away from what will come your way, do not be afraid, for He will guide you...
"What...? Who... who's he?!" I shout back at the voice. I twist my head wildly around, looking for the person that spoke to me.
Do you have the will to survive?
"What...? Do I... have the will to survive?"
Do not be afraid to face the future.
The voice faded away, then, and I was left questioning the voice's words. Who was He? Do I have the will to survive? I wasn't really sure, but my instincts took over and grabbed my sword, and I broke into a run again.
I ended up in one of the caves I found before I went to the shore, with a rock pedestal I may have or have not seen before, but it was suspicious. I looked at it, words inscribed, in a poem-like manner. A few words were faded out, but some I could still read through.
Inside this cave, is a pathway to another, where one had awoke and followed the Father.
Those were the only words I could read. But my feet started to walk, into the darkness. Despite my resistance, my feet plowed through the sandy floor.
I... well, my feet went through the darkness. Hard to see, of course, but there were tiny bits of light I could see through some holes. My legs were beginning to turn jelly, when I heard growls and some sounds like utch...
"Craaaap..." I whisper, and grabbed my sword from my back. Unfortunately and fortunately, the sword glowed, revealing a creature smaller than me, but looking pretty rabid and on the plus side, at least I could now see.
The rabid creature glanced at me, and scurried away.
"Whew..." I whistle.
Son of man, that was nothing but a rabbit.
I sigh, thinking if the voice was mocking me, or it was just my imagination.
I walk further, until I see stronger rays of light.
My eyelids flutter as I awake
My eyelids flutter as I awake to reality. Somethings wrong, I can sense it. Something. Suddenly something enormous erupts out of the ocean, making me jump and yelp with surprise. It's enormous, about the size of a small mountain. I yell loudly and back away from the coast. Seccara sits bolt up right and begins to scream. We both shout loudly waving our arms in the air like lunatics and scuttle as far away from the beach as we can. We both know that when it smashes back into the water the effects will be devastating. The thing then slammed back into the water, giving a huge crash.
"No, no, no, no no no no!" Seccara screams as a colossal wave heads in our direction.
We both fall to the ground as the level of tremors rise. I attempt to crawl away as the gigantic wave rolls closer and looms over our island. It seems to halt before cascading it's immense weight onto our island. The wave hits with full force and everything is swept away...
======= A few hours later =======
I groan and open my eyes and find my self on the beach. I'm lucky to not have been washed away. Then a horrible thought occurs to me.
"Seccara!" I shout. I look around quickly and let out a sigh of relief as I see her sitting up calling over to me. We scramble over to each other and she explains as she holds up a few tatters of wood and rope.
"Our raft, it's smashed."
I stare at the objects she's holding up and put my face in my hands and sigh quietly. She pats me affectionately on the back while I say,
"Will we survive? On this island I mean?"
"I don't know, I really don't." She replies.
"Well we have to build this thing together!" I demand.
I grab the 2 pieces and try to join them back together but it's no use. They are broken and torn to much that they would never be recognised as wood again. I scramble back down to the coast and find the beach littered with planks of wood and other objects.
"Looks like we will get off this island after all." I grin back at her and start foraging for useful things. We finally build raft no.2 and we decide to leave now.
"Have you got everything?" She asks, hastily packing things into her small bag.
"Yep, you got your stuff?" I answer.
"Yep, lets go!" She replies excitedly.
We push the raft into the ocean and sit, pushing the water behind us as we start to head towards the other islet.
You begin to paddle in the water, and you're making quite a fast progress, considering how messed up your ankle got the day before. There seems to be an eerie, dead silence in the now-murky water, as if all life had vanished. A fish might return later, but fishing was definitely out of the question for the day. Large, gourd-like fruits hang in the water, obviously filled with some juice inside. It appears to be from some of the trees nearby, as there are smaller clusters of these massive gourds hanging from the branches. Maybe if you had something hard enough to crack open this nut-like shell...
You finally reach the other islet, and you sit down next to Seccara. It takes a bit of time to catch some breath, and you finally get your stamina back after a good ten minutes. Just as you stand up, you notice a small pool of blood on the sand Seccara was lying on. When she gets up, it appears that a large cut has appeared on her back, probably an old wound neither of you noticed from the ship's sinking...
The wound isn't so deep. It's only the top layer of epidermis peeling off, but the wound may need some salt water to keep clean. The ocean at this time is filled with dirty sand, so maybe a filtering mechanism might work better...
Maybe if you found a way to break open those gourd-like fruits, they might serve well to hold as containers for boiling.
Back on track...
Epiphany
My mind is toying with me. I don't know what to believe in anymore. I thought there were light, but it was only my imagination. Am I... am I losing my mind? Maybe... maybe it's best I head back.
No.
"What?"
Through the darkness, I saw another ray of light. It was faint, and I ran to it. It grew more brighter as I got closer, and some sort of body can be seen enveloped by the light.
You must not give up, son of man. Your days are far from over. You...You have six more days to prove... what you have promised, child.
"What I have...?! What promise?! I hadn't promised anything!"
Do you not remember, one million years ago?
"One million yea-" I began, but I stopped when my head started to ache. It was like having a screw, well, screwing your head!
Then I remembered, exactly one million years ago.
==KSSSHHHHHH==
Disrupting me from what I'm seeing, I turned around, water gushing. I turned back to the person, he was gone.
"Oh, [plopdumps]..." I broke into a run, my shield dangling from my arms again. The water was about waist level.
It was a long way, but I kept moving forward, my sword in front of me, fortunately glowing. The turns were tricky, but I kept one hand on the wall to make sure I'm correct. Then I felt something, something scaly? Or hard, I don't know. I turned around, and hovered my sword over the thing.
==Snap==
It was a crab of some sort, but slightly larger.
I was startled, but then I calmed down a sec. I turned my attention to the other sides. Fishy mutations and crab-like monsters were all over the place, I kept running again.
Believe in Him, and He will guide you...
"I... don't get it! Who the hell is He?!" I yell, making way. Light finally made it my way, and I ran as fast as I could toward it. THough the light was blocked by heavy gushes of water, I went through, and fell on grainy sand. I looked up, light at my eyes, but I could see a silhouette of a boy, maybe younger, older or the same age as me.
Lol, Infernus, I forgot to add to my above post, I wanted to maybe side Skye to a belief, maybe in Heaven or Hell, it depends on the people that can influence him, might be a neutral one too.
Findings
"Sweet." I grinned in satisfaction of my foundings. I couldn't believe that this island housed to such magnificene, but strangely, it feels as if something is calling me out to here. But what might it be? Heck, after seeing that giant monster this morning, it was hard enough not to believe that anything could really happen in this place.
Before descending down into the area, I decided to scavenge whatever was near- and I found myself few cocounuts again. I gathered them all with both of my hands and took a deep breath.
Maybe there may still be hope after all
And it happened again, the phone decided to let another startling alert which made me drop all of the coconuts everywhere. "What the hell..." I growled in dissapointment and flashed out my phone and checked a new message.
What is a religion to a mob?
What is a mob to a god?
What is a god to a non-believer?
What is a non-believer to a religion?
"Riiight..." I cocked an eyebrow, what does this mean? First they're sending me riddles, now they're sending me a 101 of what is what. With that, I proceeded to collect the rest of the coconuts along the ground and noticed one of them down near the pool of the waterfall. I took a slow pace walking towards the pool but something was different- I could hear a voice.
And that was when I found another living person on the island.
My head hurt, my arms hurt, my stomach hurt, damn... My whole body hurt. It was when I jumped into the waterfall, I didn't estimate how strong those gushes were. After that, I saw this dude, and then blacked out, awash with only the thoughts that had been left to me before.
I had come to in a few minutes, just like a nap, and arose from my position. A pool of water was in front of me, and by instinct and thirst, I drank from it. Luckily, it wasn't actually connected to the sea, well, it's a waterfall, ain't it?
Then I heard a rustling in the brushes behind me, I grabbed my sword immediately.
Rejected for starting off already up to pace with the other players. Do note that I did state in the Q&A you will have to be a bit behind in progress from the other players. I can start you off at a ship, and try to tie you in with the other guys. No doubt they'll help your character as best they can.
Here's my interpretation of your bio:
Valour, an eleven year old Human, had once lived a normal life with her family in the distant lands of Central Veridia. She was kidnapped by an occult researcher, who had sensed her ability to contact with the spirits. So, Valour had her ability curbed into communicating primarily with the Devil. However, the occultists had underestimated the dire consequences of their experiment, and all hell went loose when Valour had been possessed. The lab there was obliterated, wiped off from existence.
However, the Devil had made sure to leave Valour alive in the carnage, as mediums in Veridia were rare. In order to neutralize any chance of rebellion, he wiped all of Valour's normal memories, although he did leave behind the basic skills of infancy and childhood with her [she doesn't remember birthdays or stuff like that, but she is capable of speech, survival skills, and such]. Together, they worked on stealing a boat, which had been owned by a voyager's crew. Valour managed to hide a bulky Sealed Sword in her clothing when she was found out. As they were taken in, Valour and the Devil realized that they were en route to Western Veridia, where civilization had never touched the 189 islets.
And so they made their way towards the ancient lands, with Valour hiding the Devil within her. Valour had inherited the Devil's skills with swordsmanship, although he was a bit rusty. Ironically, they seemed to be on the galleon "Diablo", a rugged ship with seasoned sailors.
[FIN]
~~~

You can change it a bit, but I don't want you starting out with the same amount of progress as the other players. It isn't a terribly long way to go anyways.

Greetings

"Who's there?!" the person called out at me, immediately my body froze in fear. A sword armed on his hand ready to strike, this is bad, he could attack me any moment and I have to find a way to protect myself. But violence won't be my resolution, he might know something crucial about this island or even about me- and he might be the last living person I'll ever meet.

"Please, lower your sword," I tried speaking as calm as possible in order to not provoke him even further, "I'm not here to hurt you..." I continued while taking a slow step back. But if negotiation wouldn't work, then it is a good thing that I already have my knife ready on my back.

Slowly, I dropped my sword and as it fell onto the sandy ground with a... well, soft thump, I took a deep breath. He himself regained composure, breathing fine, unlike earlier.

"Who... who are you?" I ask.
"I'm--," he cleared his throat and continued, "I'm Joshua."

OOC: Alright then! well.. at first I was eager to request to Vin about Laplace Mail, but it would need control from the moderator and may clash with anyone's story, so screw Laplace Mail :\

Skye

"Who... who are you?" the boy asked to me after he lowered his weapon, good, at least none of us would end up attacking another. "I'm-" I paused and cleared my parched throat, "I'm Joshua."

There was silence for a moment, but I could already see his face changing into something else, was it... trust? But after few seconds, the boy took a deep breath and replied, "I'm Skye."

"It's..." I paused and smiled a little, "It's a pleasure to meet you Skye." I continued, I am glad that he is not an enemy, with this I sheathed my knife and took a casual stance. "How... did you get here?" I asked him, but then I noticed that he was still on the ground so I offered my hand to aid him. "Come on, we're burning daylight like this," I chuckled heartily while waiting for him to respond.

OOC: If there was a girl here, Joshua would've won Nicest Guy on Veridia. >.> Seerusly. And that character reminds me of this friend of mine <.<

Anyways, I'll be posting, maybe tomorrow because it's pretty late here.

Small Talk

"So. How'd you end up here?" Joshua asks, passing me a coconut with a makeshift straw. I take few sips from it, and reply:
"On this island?" I ask first, and he replies with a nod. I continue, "Well... this voice started to call at me, so I followed it. My feet dragged me to the cave inside that waterfall, and I'm here."

Simplest answer. Joshua nods like he said, "Ah..." He takes more sips from his coconut and I see my chance to ask.

"How's you get here yourself?" I ask.
"I--" he began, but then looked rather upset.
"...What's wrong?" I ask.
"Uh... no, it's nothing, just... I don't remember anything," he replies.
"Seriously?" I ask in disbelief. "So... you have amnesia?"
"Probably," he says.
"But what about your name?" I persist.
"I don't know," he replies.
"That's... kinda sad," I felt. First time really meeting someone who has amnesia, never thought it'd be really depressing.

I decided not to raise the subject again, but I still had questions. But the look on his face told me that I'd be getting to ask them later. In the meanwhile though, it was really bright, and I might get lucky today.

OOC: hnggggghhh I want this turtleeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

@Skye-Lightning: anyhow, can I just request you one thing? I think it's better if I make decision of what Joshua is going to say, not that I'm saying that what you did there is bad and very wrong- but that it didn't give me much option to think and write. I hope you could understand this and not take it in the wrong way :<

Emptiness and

"On this island?" Skye replied quickly, as if he was the one who wanted to question me at first. I returned my hand in an instance as he decided "Well... this voice started to call at me, so I followed it. My feet dragged me to the cave inside that waterfall, and I'm here." Skye continued.

I turned around and took a cracked coconut under my foot, the small crack is enough for me to be able to drink the sweet nutritious water contained in it. "Ah..." I slowly nodded my head as I took few more sips from the coconut, but I still couldn't take in everything he just said. Really, a voice which dragged him into a cave and he appeared in a waterfall which is here? I don't see any cave anywhere near here.

"How did you get here yourself?" Skye asked me, I was caught off guard by this question.

"I..." I began, but then I tried to think and think of how I got here, but I couldn't.

"...What's wrong?" Skye asked me in concern, he must've seen right through me like a glass wall.

"Uh... no, it's nothing, just... I don't remember anything," I answered him with a hint of grim in my tone. How could I not remember anything? What was my reason of getting to this island? How did I got here in the first place?

"Seriously?" Skye asked me in disbelief, "So... you have amnesia?" he continued. I knew that question is inevitable, but hearing it brings nothing but pain into my existence.

"Probably," I answered grimly, I wanted to be honest to him about everything but I couldn't- I just can't trust anyone immediately. Not in this dangerous world.

"But what about your name?" he persistently asked me. My name... How can I only remember my name? How did I remember only my name?

"I... don't know," I replied simply, hoping that he would stop asking me questions about me. I couldn't stand the thought itself, amnesia? How did I get one? And why did I get one in the first place?

"That's... kinda sad," Skye spoke quickly with a little look of sadness hanging on his face. Kinda? No, this isn't 'kinda', this is serious. If only they tried putting their feet on my shoe...

We both knew better not to raise the subject again, but the look on Skye's face shows curiosity, he wanted answers and he'll get it soon. I looked up and shielded my eye from the bright sunlight, it doesn't look like that anything else would happen for the rest of the day- perhaps its the best to start gathering more supplies and building a fire for the night.

I stood up and walked towards the pool of water, the clear surface showed a reflection of me- wait! A pair of curious eyes looking right back at me, questioning me with it's head tilted a little. It looked quite small but it's formidable shell gave it an impression of to never judge the book by its cover. I reached out my hand to gently pet it but the creature immediately reacted with a quick bite on my finger. "Easy there buddy..." I gently spoke to it as my hand made contact with it's hard slippery shell, it soon decided to give up it's resistance against me and allowed my hand to stroke it gently. Suddenly the creature crawled on my hand and made it's way towards my right shoulder and rested tightly on it.

"Hey, Skye, look what I found here!" I smiled at him, showing the turtle on my right shoulder proudly.
