I don't know how recent of a change this is, but some of the changes with the new UI have made it impossible to bind the Shift keys (and just the shift keys) to an action. I know I personally found it convenient to put my block button there, and I don't quite understand why it was changed. I would like it if it was possible to undo that change.

Now left shift can only work combined with another key (by default shift+ click does the new dash/bash)

Greetings,

By default the Left Shift key is now a "Modifier" key. If you wish to bind it to a normal function you first have to specify a new Modifier key. Once that's done it should behave like you're used to.
