Screw this, let's just put passive bonuses on all the shields

Let's be honest, that's what we care about when choosing shields. If the shield actually has, you know, the ability to shield something, that's a bonus.

Here's how I'd distribute them!

Barbarous Thorn Shield: Keeps sword damage +2. Freeze/Poison resistance. We need a freeze/pierce shield.
Crest of Almire: Sword speed +2
Heater Shield: Sword CTR +2

Ironmight Plate: Bomb damage +2
Volcanic Plate: Bomb CTR +2

Gray Owlite: Handgun CTR +2
Dread Skelly: Handgun damage +2
Royal Jelly: Handgun speed +2

Dragon Scale: MSI +1
Aegis: Universal damage +1
Ancient Plate: Universal CTR +1

Omega Shell: Health +6 (previously suggested +4)

Shouldn't Dragon Scale boost damage vs beasts?

I like this idea.

I wouldn't hate this. I mean, you should get prepared for people telling you "The game is already easy," but in my opinion I think this would be nice.
It would really give those shields that no one uses a purpose, which would be great.

I also agree that the omega shell should give +6 Hp.

Did you choose any of these with any thought behind them, or pick random bonuses and stick them on random shields? Besides Omega Shell, obviously. They seem... arbitrary :P

Node 53120 is credit to team

Swiftstrike could lower Dash Cooldown by a bit, maybe in exchange for a bit of the ASI. Crappy blocking in exchange for wicked awesome ninja skills.

The Plate Shields could cut the shield damage from frontal attacks by one half, so aiming with your shield matters. Alternatively they could stay blocking while Shield Bashing, or take less damage from Shield Bashes. Cool plate shields with cool plate shield effects.

The others can stay as they are. Except maybe Heater Shield. Heater Shield can offer extra personal resistance to Freeze as well as Shield resistance.

EDIT: And the Omega Shell. Lovin' that +4 (+6?) HP, it'd be what the Scarlet Shield should be.

Well, the Omega Shell could +4 from Lv. 1-5, and Lv. 5-10 is +6 Health.

@Doctorspacebar

Global ASI already affects bash recovery speed, and I'm moderately sure that MSI affects travel time when dashing and bashing.

@Everyone
I agree. I'll edit +6 in the original suggestion.

@Klipik
I never post suggestions I haven't put thought into!

Barb, Crest and Heater get sword bonuses because they have more normal defence than specialised defence. Ergo, they are meant to block melee attacks.

Jelly, Skelly and Owlite get gun bonuses because they have more specialised defence than normal. Ergo, they are meant to block bullets.

I always throught of the plate shields as bomber shields. Unfortunately, there are only two bomb-relevant bonuses and it wouldn't make sense putting MSI on a plate shield. Ancient, technically being a separate line, was delegated to give universal CTR instead.

I also tied piercing defence to damage and elemental/fire defence to CTR to mimick the template for armours. In the case of handgun bonuses, shadow got the damage because of shadowsun.

Omega Shell was obvious.

I wanted Aegis to be something straightforward anyone could take advantage of. At first I thought universal ASI +1, but then I figured there was no need for universal ASI because Swiftstrike has that plenty covered. CTR made more sense on Ancient Plate, so Aegis gets the damage.

Dragon Scale has the worst defence for the most part, so I wanted it to have the coolest bonus. At first I thought it should get universal damage +2 or something, but I settled for MSI.
