I know these 2 levels have an immense amount of lag as opposed to other levels, for reasons i assume to be that three rings has forgotten to optimize the code for lower graphics end users, this problem used to also occur on the underground passage after a shadowlair but that has since been fixed and the level is quite enjoyable since then.

when does the lag occur? when vana hits with his hammer or when shadow fire/wood etc.. falls from the ceiling and when the floor is full of stuff.

what do i think it is? again, over-saturation of particle graphics.

what about the core?
Oh god the wind gusts and all that jazz, so laggy.

what is the difference in skip? well (if you exclude my other problem topic on here) the depth 27 vana level will run at 40-60 fps usually, in vana however its from 4 to 40

the core? 4-14fps

If i had access to the files i would probably do it myself, but yaaaaa not gettin' banned

I haven't noticed it in the throne room, but at the core my FPS drops substantially. It's because of that wierd constant void particle whirlwind effect... Is that really even necessary?

The point for all the effects

The point for all the effects at the core is to create a atmosphere of the raw power and mystery that surrounds the core it self, there is no need to remove this seeing how you arn't even fighting any thing there.

Lag.

It's not a bug. It's Java.

What Krakob said

It could be redundant code, but I don't trust java too much either.

I don't think it's java. It's probably the details and effects in the core that causes lag.

Some say java is slow, but excesive use of particle effects will lag on any language/engine.
