When prestige was added to the game, there was a "promise" of rewards later. Well, later the little logos were added to the game. So it's possible that the little logos are all that we're going to get.

They're used for precisely two things:
Bugger and all.
Hypothetically, yes, there will eventually be a use for them in the future, we just don't know what it is yet (other than the aforementioned logo). The only rewards we have gotten so far were the weapon stand GH decorations and the honor blades/shields--but so far that was a one-time thing, and technically even those were tied to your rank, not directly tied to your prestige points.
