What's OOO's stance on these 2 things? I'm quite curious to know if Spiral Knight will get it's own set of trading cards or will have market support (it would certainly be interesting to see what it does to the game's economy) or if both are things that the devs think wont help the game or if there's a hidden requirement to get in or is it because they are both in beta so only the games currently supported will be in.

But yeah, mostly I want to hear Nick's (and the rest of the team) and this community opinion of them!

Steam Trading Cards for SK?

Steam Trading Cards for SK? Definitively.

Steam Market is a whole different story though.

The CE Price has of today managed to reach a delicate equilibrium in price. Seeing as how the TF2 Key's price skyrocketed because of the Market, the same would likely happen to SK's CE Price.
And I know many of us who don't want that.

@Canozo The card dont get

@Canozo

The card dont get distributed depending on achievements but in play time and you can only get half the set from drops... but for F2P games it works differently: you get a card drop for every 9 dollars of in-game purchases after they are released (but in tf2's case, people who owned it before the f2p update get the normal 5 card drops)

@Sgt-Brownie

Yeah, the market would really mess with the price of CE but I am more curious to see what it would do to item prices, since the market lets you sell some stuff that normally wouldnt be tradable.

Also, as a side note, the rise in key prices wasnt because of just the market but it did have something to do with it: after the initial wave for keys sold in the market, the price raised to 3.66 ref and people were jumping to backpack.tf for price checking since the spreadsheet for it was run by a guy that was found to do mess with the price of things to his benefit. Then a group of people (and some admins, some would say) started using the system backpack.tf uses to determine prices: price suggestions and voting; using places like outpost, people slowly were suggesting higher and higher prices after people started selling keys for 1 scrap more each time and using those trades as proof of raising values.

Now here's where it gets fishy and a lot of people might call me wrong on this, but even when A LOT of people voted against those prices, the suggestions still got through and most people who do sell keys were all up for it and then more people started selling for 1 scrap more and so on and so forth. Since backpack.tf is the price checking site tf2 traders use more at the time, that's the value they go with, using the market as an excuse to justify the raise.

It really is a mess...

you're wrong...

@Sgt-Brownie

the price of refind to keys has gone up (because you can now make money of it without doing something illegal) 1 refind was 350 CE and so the price has gone up... so it didn't skyrocket in TF2 (going up a refind or something over time) and didn't affect SK

http://tf2spreadsheet.traderempire.com (no key behind the price means it's in refind...)

what i'm saying is, the price won't skyrocket nor fall or some people just want to overpay (when will this ever happen???)

but people selling CE for money over steammarket will work against OOO seing people buy CE with crowns and sell it for real money well under the price OOO will sell it.

remember there are still players WITHOUT steam wich have to buy CE from OOO so there will allways be enough CE for the market ingame. also keep in mind the steam-market is still in beta stage, and looking how well the TF2 comunity set it's prices it's going just like they want. and everybody was going insane with rants about TF2 stuff going to be to expensive -_-

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/tradingcards#announcements judging from the looks of the recent update it seems that any game devs interested in making the cards can now contact their steam providers to participate? it'd be swell if our awesome OOO devs and/or GMs got in on that action.

.... especially if it meant I could get a Eurydice card
