Sometimes, having lent down a helping hand will be able to make it grow into something incredible as a miracle has happened.
The "Shadow Mercenaries" guild is a group of people who volunteers themselves to be helping out the people of the community, a really friendly somewhat small~mediocre group (Family <3) of friends. Personally for me myself, I understand the fact of how hard it is to progress especially in MMORPG games like these, as you will not be on equal footing with anyone especially in Spiral Knights, when we all rely on our gear and combat skills with the energy system in play. We can offer clean runs and strategies on doing all sorts on runs (including shadow lairs), we play guild Colosseum games as times, we also have some weekly guild events, giveaways and so many other things! You can always check us out here at our recruitment page. Or, you can add our officers and talk with us in-game if you have any concerns.
Primarily, we are a PvE Guild that has been here for a really long time, and we're offering to help you enhance your experience to come in the World of Spiral Knights, as how everyone of us is enjoying it.

Honestly the best way to find a guild which is the best suited to you is to read other forum posts. There are many different types of guilds, so some may suit you better then others. If I were you, I would read about twenty different guild forum posts before asking for advice from other players. As you can see from the above two posts, they are only talking about their own guild, and posts like these may or may not be biased (Please note that I am not saying that the above two posts specifically did this, as both of their guilds are good choices too). Here are some links to a few different guilds.

Dragonclaw-
A small, friendly guild. They do lots of runs together. They do not really have much of a forum post, and it is outdated. I have personally been in this guild. The guild masters are kind, but their promotion tests are stupid because their GMs can't even do the officer test (Don't tell them I said this :P). You should probably mail all of these people if you are thinking of being invited, because they are not the most active guild masters. Spirogirl, Irazu, Thecalubur. (BTW Its been a while, so I may be outdated too!)

Brick Squad is good, but not the best for a newer players
Shadow Mercenaries is good
