The Three Main Problems in LD and their solutions

Fist of all, I do not want to make a stupid argument between AT-lovers and AT-haters. The following issues are the most annoying from my point of view and I think all of them have their solutions. Let's start:

1. Leavers
I think it's the biggest problem in LD. If you are doing a clockworks run and have a disconnection you CAN return to the party. Probably you will die but unless you were playing solo that's not a problem. Why can't we do that in LD??? About a third of the LD matches are *$%!ed by a leaver unintentionally (I'm not talking about rage-quitters).
Solution: same way than PvE.

2. Unfair teams in RLD

I don't know how the algorithm works making the teams. Even I doubt that there is any algorithm. My feeling is that the teams are made randomly. That causes that many times the matches are pretty boring because there is not any challenge.
Solution: making an algorithm that counts the W/L ratio (skills) and the number of matches (experience) of each player to create fair teams.

3. Report

The data shown in the report after every match are very improvable. Sometimes I defend as bomber the same base during the whole match without deaths being escorted by a striker and my report is: <1k dmg / 1 cap / 0 defs.
Solution: At least it should show how many times you have died, knights killed, accuracy (got hits / tried hits) and so on. Also some way to know if you did a good team work such as % of time on bases, healed HPs as a guardian or something similar.

PS: I am not programmer so I do not know if it's easy to do or not.
PS2: my English is not perfect, sorry about it.
PS3: I know that's not the first topic about that, I'm doing a compilation from my point o view.

Three bigger main lockdown problems:

1. Enabled UVs
2. Shield cancel
3. Stupid tier&team allocation

hai muffin!

1.) I dunno if I would say it is the biggest problem, but it is definitely a big problem. In random I see a lot more intentional leavers (i.e., newer player who sees they are up against that they regard as a 'pro' team and leave before the match even starts) than D/Cs, but I agree that it would be nice if players who do D/C could reenter. Similarly, as I know people have mentioned several times in suggestions, I think there should be some kind of penalty to discourage players from rage quitting.

2.) I agree, player balance is a big deal, and some kind of matching system would be a huge help--though I too am not a programmer and don't know anything about how such a system would be implemented. Something else that people discussed on the testing forums: it would be really nice if you could set custom matches the same way that you can set rules for parties. Guilds could more easily play themselves (no alt guild needed), friends could play friends, people could lock a match and invite specific players for tournaments, etc.

3.) Also agreed. Looking at a game like Sanctum just as an example, I do think stat reporting could be expanded in more useful ways. Also, thinking about the ability to download guild records, it would be interesting if you could download a copy of the stats from a match you participated in--might be some really interesting opportunities in there for people trying to gather data on weapon damage, speed, etc.

@Muffin top

I made a thread regarding issue#3.

Glad to see i'm not the only one thinking there is room for improvement there.

@Mtax: Wait, you're saying that shield canceling is an issue in LD? It's part of the fighting style, learnt from PvE.
Also:Why the UV hate (generally)? People seem to forget it is just another form of specializing, just like training hard is.
Both take work/money.

Enabled UV's, remove those and you also lose alot of players, people do not like to spend alot of time getting something just to have it get turned around and it's useless now.

Shield cancel...isn't a problem, remove that and you remove lockdown. you'd basically be shooting yourself in the foot if you do that.

I agree that the matchmaking could use a few tweaks :/

Really?

2. Random is truely random.. u want to have this special algorithm where all the matches end 450-500? no dude.. no.

3. The data is fine.. u got bad dmg and didnt cap.. it just means that ur bad at doing dmg.. and as a fricken recon/defender it says u dont know strategy. If u go guardian u need to show defends to show u actually did anything useful for the team, and as a recon u should show caps to show u did ANYthing useful for the team.. The data is FINE... it tells me u need to work on ur playstyle :)

@Dragonicblaze
2.RLD is obviously random, but it's unfair, that's the key.
3. Don`t I know strategy? Don't I do anything useful for the team? bomberman playstyle is mainly strategy and team work.
/lol

@Feyi
I like your "timing" idea, that's what I meant with "% time on bases".

@Narf
Ragequitters penalty would be good too.

About reporting, they should use either kills/caps/defends or damage dealt/time capping/time on capped point. Mixing and matching is just weird. That and they should really add death/damage taken.

Fair matchmaking sounds nice, but is it even possible?

The only problem I see with UVs is in gaining immunity to mist bombs, but that is more a problem with the clumsy status effect system than lockdown in particular.

Complaining about shield cancel? I'm sorry but no one is going to take you seriously if you say things like that.

@Dragonicblaze

Having a support bomber on a LD team is extremely useful, as they can block choke points and other passageways, making the opposing team confined to a small space, while being rushed at by other strikers. This doesn't allow them to cap, almost guaranteeing a victory, if held long enough. The strategy that Muffin used, defending a base using status bombs is also a very effective strategy. It ensures that that particular point cannot be captured by the opposing team. The stats we saw didn't necessarily reflect strategy.

@Muffin In order to get a defend, you need to kill someone WHILE they are capping your point.

I just fear they are going to

I just fear they are going to take this into consideration and change the LD system for the worse.. just like the UI ok.. dont blame me.

@muffin +1 I was just saying

@muffin

I was just saying today in RLD how they should add some kind of stats to show also the work of guardians.
Too bad there's no stat called "Helping Factor". I that case, your would always be over 9000!

Keep bombing \,,/

If OOO really was conniving

If OOO really was conniving and wanted to squeeze top tier LD players for $1000s more IRL, they'd make battle sprites have roll-able UVs from punch and vise and usable in LD as well.
