Hey to you gunners out there do you think this is a good set?
Shadowsun Stetson
Deadshot mantle
Grey owlite shield
Or is there a better set you would recommend?

When you get damage bonus from armor and trinkets, it applies to all six monster families, Vanaduke (who is not in any family), and PvP. This is really powerful, compared to the single-monster-family bonus that you might get through a UV. Therefore loadouts should be constructed like this, as a rule of thumb:
* UVs on weapons should be ASI or CTR.
* Armor and trinkets should supply damage bonus. If there is spare "capacity" in the armor and trinkets, then armor and weapons should also augment ASI or CTR or both, depending on the weapons being used.
Deadshot isn't a bad set at all --- especially because its undead bonus applies to all weapons --- but Shadowsun supplies that all-gun-all-enemy damage bonus that a gunner really wants.
Thank you for your wisdom I will try to work towards full shadowsun. gotta grind jk
I assume the shield is ok? if not is there a better one?
Oh, sorry. Grey Owlite is a very good defensive shield, and one of the most popular shields in the game. Other popular defensive shields include Volcanic Plate Shield (to help you through the Vanaduke fight) and Crest of Almire (after you've done Firestorm Citadel a lot).
You should also consider Swiftstrike Buckler. It's only 3-star, so it offers terrible defense, but it gives you a great offensive bonus. Many serious gunners use it, because they don't need a lot of defense, because they are gunners.
Ok i have the swiftstrike buckler and the horned owlite recipes so i guess ill just switch back and forth depending on needs. Thank you Bopp
Elemental and Shadow are probably the most popular damage type defenses, both for the clockworks generally and FSC specifically. Just in case you've not looked into it, Chaos is highly prized for general use, except status-heavy places like FSC, where it's more for players very familiar with the level. If choosing between the Shadowsun and Nameless stuff based on DMG vs. ASI rather than based on the Shadow vs. Elemental, Bopp has a good point there but you'll probably be wanting to get secondary and maybe even tertiary armor sets before you start rolling for big desired UVs and _maybe_ even before bothering with Trinkets. It might also be sensitive to preference for weapons and particular ways of using them.
As Bopp mentioned, the Volcanic Plate is more desired for FSC while the Grey Owlite is more general-purpose, though they're similar enough that one can usually substitute for the other; the functional overlap is enough that if you get a second T3 shield after one of those Elemental ones, a first Shadow shield probably has more marginal value than the other Elemental one. Besides FSC vs. Shock, the other likely deciding factor between those Elemental shields is whether you find melee or ranged monster attack more troublesome: melee attacks tend to be Normal-only, while ranged attacks tend to deal the abNormal types. It's not an absolute rule, just a notable general tendency.
For what little it's worth, if I could tell my past self which gear to use for the final Wall of Heroes hurdle, I'd recommend something that probably sounds like blasphemy to most peops on the forum... like Shadowsun/Nameless hybrid, Volcanic Plate Shield, and Valiance, but having Volt or Prisma Driver, Strike Needle and Virulent Catalyser already at 4-star by then since they're my most important weapons after Blaster, so I'd almost always be using at least one of them at any time.
Geosmin is right to mention Chaos. I didn't mention Chaos, just because I'm trying to avoid having "Chaos" be the answer to every question. But really everyone should be considering Chaos all of the time, because its offense is just so crazy.
Deadshot would be good when fighting the undead but not optimal against everything else. The low ASI is just... low.
Make a full shadowsun set instead.
