Now that we have a button to press to use Shield Bash, it got me thinking...
Why not have other abilities instead of just bashing. Now it wouldn't be 'Bash' anymore, it would be broadened and changed to 'Shield Ability'

To explain,
The attack shields (BTS, Swiftstrike) would have Bash as their 'Shield Ability'. However, other shields would have a different 'Shield Ability'

Example Shield Abilities:
Plate Shields' could be a recharge of own shields.
Jelly Shields' could deflect away all projectiles within a 2 block radius.
Heater Shield's could be an AOE defrost of all enemies/allies within 4 blocks radius.
Dread Skelly's could be summon a friendly bombie that respawns when resummoned.
Aegis's could be summon a knight that respawns when resummoned.

Thoughts? Onions?

EDIT: okey found another thread.... but never got off the ground poor thread q.q

On an unrelated note: I need to save this nice thread somewhere

Sorry.

First bunch sound like what Battle Sprites are going to do when they come out.
The last two sound like another dumb pet idea.

mmmk

I suppose we'll see when Battle Sprites come out. But, I feel that this could be one aspect that makes lesser used shields have some drawing factor.

Just because some shields are less popular than others, doesn't mean that they're unbalanced. Some just "don't look cool", cost materials that are high in demand due to other, more popular shields, or are just shields that not many people know about because you don't see them around often.
The selection of shields is there for people's convinience, if they don't want to use them, then we have a counter argument whenever someone complains that said level/monster is too hard.
I do admit though, the Jelly/Plate crossover is a bit redundant. I recall someone bringing up the idea to put bomber bonuses on the armor and the shield. This would be parallel to some sort of CTR buff on the Plate Mail, of course.
