You tell me. You have 24 hours!
PvP contests--should they go here, or in Treasure Vault?
They should go hear. Treasure vault has a lot of contests plus this is empty so let's fill it up :D
Hmm. Well, I guess my first instinct is that they should go here. Most contests make sense in Treasure Vault with art-y stuffs because they are already art-y in nature. I think it would be more intuitive for PVP-related contests to be here with the rest of the PVP-related content.
There are lots of lockdown threads in General Discussion and Treasure Vault. They should all be in one place so that the forums can be organized. Also, PvP Lockdown is very popular, so yes.
You should make the Coliseum platform on the forums. Plus, treasure vault is becoming "Lockdown vault".
My vote goes for PvP contests belonging to this sub-forum.
Wow such a fast response to the suggestion.
I say it should go into the colliseum
> What is your facebook <3
Why not have another folder stickied to the top of 'The Coliseum' sub-forum for contests. It would keep all the contests in one easy to find place, so they dont get lost amongst the general PvP chatter of 'The Coliseum'.
^-^
I'd love to have nested forums too. Not just for here, but for Treasure Vault so that the fiction people and the visual art people and the contest people aren't all in each others' hair. I'm not sure if this forum platform will support that, though, and as you might imagine I'm a little leery of performing experiments on our live forum. But I am working on finding out if this is possible.
Subforums would be best, but if that cannot be done, I still think that competitions should all go here if they are related to PvP.
Here.
Also, thanks for creating this new section.
Here.
Also, thanks for creating this new section.
The description should change.
"This is where all PvP events happen! You CAN talk about the Knight Club, after all!"
While you're busy changing up the forums, which is something that I've wanted for a while now, go make some kind of outlet for forum games, so that "taking the knight off to discuss things of a non-spiral bent" can involve actually discussing things.
Because thats what it is being used for. Not discussing things, not debating over things, but posting about what is to your right, corrupted wishes, and dirt.
Maybe we should flood General Discussion with forum games but have them be related to SK so it goes in GD and not Gremlin Chatter, see if that works? :3
Well I made a forum game there once just to see how Eury would react to a topic that was very much logically in the correct place, but by current convention "out of place", and she ended up moving it several times as I moved it back, and never actually confronted me about it. Which saddened me, as I was hoping to get into an argument that could have possibly ended with my being able to legitimately use the gremlin chatter forums for discussing say, not forum games.
I was originally going to spam forum games slowly into the general chat, because they tend to go viral quickly unless controlled, but decided it wasn't worth it, as I both liked reading the general discussion threads, and didn't want to get myself banned for the same reason that people I know were banned- mild belligerence towards OOO.
But the biggest reason I stopped is because the community fails at arguing and discussing topics. Most arguments posted are lazy forms of several generic responses that don't actually further anything. These include:
-Not reading the OP and posting an obvious argument dealt with in the rhetoric of the main topic.
-Nit picking one section of the OP to derail the actual argument. This includes posting dictionary definitions, finding grammatical errors, and small issues with the lore of the game, while ignoring the theme and purpose of the thread entirely.
-Not adding anything to the thread other than "go use the search bar/wiki" or "this has been suggested before..."
-Posting null arguments containing attempts to antagonize the poster of the thread.
And in the end, I kind of feel sorry for Eury... she has to put up with me and people like me making sketchy topics with strange political agendas, and then when she does step in to deal with issues, is immediately hit upon by equally sketchy men.
Also, "bevolved". That is all.
Fehzor, I do not recall any back and forth movement of topics as you describe. Other people do moderate the forums, and so it's possible that two or more moderators thought your topic needed to be moved. If I'd personally ended up moving your topic more than once, I'd have contacted you about it in some way. Sorry for the confusion. It's best not to re-move a thread when a moderator has moved it, though.
I think you're right. The community might find that OOO can be jerks but we're probably just as bad. I support OOO as much as my heart and spare money allows but I simply won't believe them if they say that the earth is 6000 years old or some wacky stuff like that and thus arguing with them is often necessary. The problem is that it's often arguing against a wall which sees all and hears all and will probably not respond although it'll punch you in the face with a dead tortoise or three to four grapefruits if you get frustrated because of that.
@Eury
Could you present an opinion on making a forum games sub-forum? Please, for me? I'll give you three red shards :3
Bah!
This again. I make a perfectly good argument about something- in this case making gremlin chatter about discussions and not spam as it claims to be, and you manage to post about everything I wrote that isn't the argument. And the same happened the other day, here I am, trying to bring up the point that the chat filter is kind of unfair when it detects every day phrases that encompass but do not even come close to meaning a word considered "foul language", eventually punishing people for longevity on the forums while leaving out things like Feller's glass glove comment. And you know what, if I had to guess, will happen for me putting that link there? "no naming and shaming!" And I don't mean to "hate on you" either, I'm just trying to post my thoughts on this issue honestly rather than just saying "I understand" and going about my business. Nothing good is going to come from people just accepting what is given to them when they feel that it is unfair to any extent.
I really should just give up on trying to be a decent person on the forums and troll/abuse people 100% of the time like most of the people that post here, at least the forums are designed to facilitate that.
It's been way more than 24 hours. One would think Eury could at least judge the time that has passed by looking at the sky and noticing how it's been both day and night since. Or does Nick keep 'em locked up in his basement?
And people wonder why Admins don't post more frequently...
Eurydice asked a simple straightforward question which has turned into a pretty pointless thread.
@ Fehzor
Pointless: Without purpose or benefit: having no purpose, use, or sense, or any positive or beneficial effect
@Feshor
He ban me for my "glove of hapiness" comment, but stilll don't reply your post. Thanks for being a "snitch" btw.
@Eurydice
Now that I have your attention "AGAIN", when are you going to reply this simple question..
"Are we going to have a LD Lobby in short-medium-long time" ???
With options like this :
AT enable / disable
CE rez enable / disable
UVs enable / disable
¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿??????????
Ok, Feller was an example. An obvious example, but still. If it really takes me, someone that gets in trouble for being a Craver, to tell you who to ban for what comment... but then, I don't really know that you did or did not do anything or if it was you, or any of the inner workings of the support team. I just see you post, and think "Eurydice does all forum actions." Which is obviously wrong, and seems to be the problem quite a bit. I feel there is something wrong, but no one will confront me when I try to say "please fix this", rather, they just kind of take action or post around what I say. And then theres the whole "support ticket" nonsense, but I doubt that will get me very far if I go on and- "Hi this is Fehzor and I think that gremlin chatter should be usable." because I'm just some random faceless player using the forums and they aren't about to change anything because of me.
And the worst part is that I've seen it all before! The rules start out simple, and gradually moderators and others begin to change them based off of their opinions and a sort of unwritten ruling is established. And it goes from working rules to rules being enforced/ignored based on what used to be the rules. What used to be "Don't insult/start fights/belittle other players" has become "no naming and shaming". And the worst- "Post in the appropriate forum." has somehow come to be interpretted as "Forum Games = Gremlin Chatter". Gremlin chatter = general, but non-spiral-knights related... so how come, if I make a forum game in general discussions, it gets moved by several different administrators to gremlin chatter, despite being spiral knights related?
And they don't say anything! They don't say "Hey Fehzor, this is a forum game" they just pretend like I'm retarded and move my thread to gremlin chatter. No post, no nothing. Just thread has been moved to gremlin chatter. Looks just as if I'd done it.
Fehzor. Stop. Really, really stop. All this because you want to be able to discuss things in a sub-forum (despite that fact that you clearly don't like the responses you get), and are getting crowded out by forum games? And when you don't feel you are being heard you endeavor to pick a fight with the forum mod? It is no one's job to confront you about anything. I have said this to folks from time to time, and I mean it in the best, most positive way: I think you need to stop, breathe, and find something else to do. Take a break, step back, come back later.
Fehzor makes plenty of valid points.
@OP
It's been 8 days. Got a verdict yet, m'lady Eury?
I'm not saying there aren't some points that I agree with, or that I can agree to disagree with, but this really isn't the way to go about it. And yes, this thread needs to be closed--clearly the question has already been answered.
We were given 24 hours to discuss and we still have not been given a proper answer. When she does that, I'll be happy to see it closed but seriously, did Eury really forget? Nine days now.
We want BACON! We want BACON! BACON! BACON! BACON! BACON!
"And when you don't feel you are being heard you endeavor to pick a fight with the forum mod? It is no one's job to confront you about anything."
I don't care if its their job to confront me, or to just move things around randomly on the forums or to enforce the rules or to develop the game engine. If I get them to confront me, and if I get them to change the forums so that I can use the gremlin chatter forum to discuss things then I will get to discuss things on the gremlin chatter forum. And that's all there is to it. And I am failing, which makes it my fault that that particular forum is not being used for what it claims to exist for, just like it is my fault that there exists armor imbalance, just like it is my fault that there are children dying in Africa. Except I don't have much control over that last one, do I? I'm not entitled to anything, but I am responsible for the change that I would like to see that does not occur.
And yea, I do have problems. I am aware of this and don't really care to be honest. Why should I stop or take breaks from things? What else is there for me? Because you know what I think? That in the end, there is nothing. So I just kind of accept that I am wrong. That the world is perfect. But in truth, what I like to do, is complain about stuff and vie for change. Its what I like to do. So that's why I'm here. So that I can waste my time and then die, because the world doesn't need me and there is nothing I can do to change that. So please, don't tell me that I'm wasting my time. Because wasting my time is all that there ever will be for me.
Hm... It's an event... but it's also PvP...
WHAT TO D-head explodes.
