The best, is the one suited

The best, is the one suited to the strata you're heading into, the one that complements the rest of your equipment, the one that you can upgrade to 5* if you intend to do so, the one that fits your need for number of hits per combo/DPS/movement/charge/status effect ...
In other words, I don't think there is a best 4* sword. [some hints about your current gear, the monsters you like/struggle with might help recommending something...]

P.S. It is even difficult to name worst swords, since usually this kind of topic ends up in people defending their choices, whatever they are...

Pretty much what they

Pretty much what they said.

Plus there's also style things, some people don't like slow swords (Faust), some people don't like fast swords (cutter series). I don't know what you like.

But if you're in the pure middle, you can't go wrong with the Ascended Calibur, equally good on everything, bad on nothing. But also great at nothing because of that. The 360 charge knockback is nice though, but once again, that's a style thing, some players like the natural Faust/Avenger knockback...

My current gear Dusker

My current gear

Dusker set
horned owlite shield
cutter and voltech alchemer

I would suppose that i would be going for quite a few jelly king runs.

I dont really like the cutter i am using now. as it hits very weakly so smt in the middle would be fine.

you really need to try out

You should try out the different sword lines yourself to see what you like/don't like. You really don't want to drop a wad of CE on a sword you've never tried.

Abray is right. Every line of

Abray is right. Every line of swords has a different feel to it, and the best way to find which is the 'best' is to try them out. What it comes down to is your playing style, since there are many different variables to each sword. I'll list some of them off the top of my head....

Damage
Swing speed
Range
Swing arc
Knockback
Knockdown
Number of hits per combo
Distance traveled during combo
Charge attack style
Charge time
Monster strengths and weaknesses

There are no statistics for the majority of these. It's more about your style and what you like to use. I personally can't stand the spur line because I like to use charge attacks and was not impressed with the spur's. I do not like the cutter line much either because of the lack of knockback/knockdown. I could not have known it without trying them out first.
