Skolver + toothpick + trollaris = gg.
I've tried so hard to get into this minigame, but no. That's all I've accrued from 100 matches. Is there some magical bunny in the corner I missed?

My three favorite and effective loadouts are:
Sentenza/Storm driver
Biohazard/FF/Umbra Driver
Sentenza/GF (only use this one on EU usually)
You can succeed without using the easiest loadouts known to man, the learning curve is just higher. So many use the loadout in the OP because it's simple and usually gives a good sense of instant gratification.
If LD is not for you then that's cool, everyone has their own taste on what's fun.
Damn stereotypes...
Skolver+GF+Polaris =/= gg.
Just stop it for God's sake....
I see your skolver with a short-range sword and a gun with slow bullets and raise you one Nitronome. Come and get me.
Actually using equipment that is meta is how you reach the skill floor. You can't say you've had a hard time controlling the game unless you play someone with similar equipment.
RLD is not all LD has to offer. After you reach a certain point, equipment can only take you so far.
For anyone looking to get into LD, I always recommend T2 instead - less GF and Polaris spam, more room for mistakes, and skill plays a larger factor.
LD takes a lot of skill PvE skill and skill at playing the market to get the very best UV's.
My Boy Ranick, show me 20k dmg with the skolver + toothpick + polaris, you are talking about, for starters. THEN, we can go into detail about the shiz u be spewing from ur mouth :P
Snarbo Set + Cold Iron Carver + Valiance=15k dmg; 10 caps, 4 def? Not bad XD
erm getting people to line up as defender the whole game to get the said dmg.. should never even be considered.
@Dragonicblaze:
You don't say Capt. Obvious....
Use your senses....
Gah...
use all the gear you want. 1v1 me. then you can talk about skill. I'll use chaos set and my beloved brandish.
You forgot + my PRECIOUS AT..
Just saying before country does
There's just more variety of weapons. More variety of loadouts. Each weapon takes skill to master. Some noob may take an antigua and get 1k. Daniel may take an antigua and get 10k. Some noob may take a hammer and get 5k. Cool may take a SF and get 11k. So try T2.
Danielflame's antigua - the bane of guardians and bombers everywhere.
Well...if you can beat them. Join them?
Or try other classes and weapons?
And there are the other two tiers and BN :P
OP's post is pretty narrow-minded. Sounds like you need more LD practice.
Polaris is easy to bypass.
Toothpcks are easy to dodge
Skolvers? Shadow or Elemental dmg. Obviously.
Tbh, i used to be one of the crowd that thought LD was full of skolver clones. But honestly, the skolver clones kinda suck. The Vog GF combos...you are f'ed.
But I play T3 LD, and there is quite the variety of stuff.
Gunners, using alchemers predominately, followed by antigua lines/valiance, and lastly the occasional biohazard and callahan.
Few bombers, but those who do bomb are quite fun. Vortex, Hazebombs, snarb bomb and nitro.
And swordies, who use Sealed lines mostly (easy to dodge), then flourishes, then brandishes, with levi and sudaand triglav from time to time.
In terms of armor, mostly wolver lines, but chaos line is growing due to its universal dmg bonus.
Compared to T2, T3 is better.
T2 is mostly duskers who do well. No competent gunners exist in T2 for obvious reasons, nor bombers. The armor for those classes only becomes useful at 5*. Pretty much all swordies, toothlick spam.
Just my opinion, but T2 LD sucks compared to T3. T3 has more variety, cooler weapons, multiple fight styles (guns and bombs), and more derpy people. T2 has duskers with their flourishes, and the rest who fail at LD.
Only possible downside is that trinkets are needed for both in order to be good, but more so in T3.
Also, not many weapons compare to the rocket hammer in T2, but it is more balanced in T3.
Heavy T2 has no Sealed Sword Upgrade spam but still trollaris crap from those Duskers. Heavy swords are much less popular. Alchs. are more popular to those who have no Polaris or Antigua gear. So to answer the question skill is in the wep. and how it's used. (T2 has less spam anyway)
I think at this point it's my internet. An ancient plate recon using GF swinging faster than a striker vog with toothpick. I'm done.
Hammers are less prevalent in T2, since there are less veteran players who actually buy things there. Not as many people have UVs, because no one wastes punch money on T2 stuff. There are definitely competent gunners and bombers. And there are most certainly fun people, in part because there are more newer players. In T3, on the other hand, the arena is constantly filled with polaris explosions, CTR max brandish charges, GFs and DAs. GFs and DAs are worse than SSs by a long shot, since they deal specialized damage. In T2, you can be good without UVs, without spamming. In T3 it's much harder to get people to notice. So if you're the best LD player in the world, sure, do T3. But T2 is better for those of us who aren't the best with infinite punch money.
The OP doesn't understand LD? I say you don't understand T2.
Skolver + toothpick + trollaris = gg.
Agreed, but you forgot to mention Gran Faust / DA, Black Kat Cowl and Rocket Hammer. Along with what you said, I like to call these jokers "Clone Gear". They take little (if any) effort to wield and are the easiest to learn. It amuses me how a lot of players think theyre skilled just because theyre good at using weapons that arent in anyway difficult. Thats like a fish saying "Omg I can breathe underwater and swim better than humans. Im SO pro." All thats required for one to be a "expert" at using clone gear are: keyboard and/or mouse, hands, eyes. Brains and effort optional.
Hate to burst many peoples bubble but the truth is, 12k damage done using a Levi blade, FoV, DVS, or other none-clone gear is much more impressive than 40k damage done using clone gear. Sorry.
Toothpicks are hard to use correctly. Same with hammers, although their effectiveness at high levels is limited. The thing that's "easy" about them is how effective they are when you switch on AT and mash dat left mouse button.
And do brandishes count as "non-clone" gear?
No offens but im sick of all of u guys that think gear makes a player pro.
Lets take the normal "clone" skolver ff+gf+polaris.
Ppl that just have gear but no skills will just spam 3 swings combo ff (they will get killed easily from the delay of last swing). They will do 2 combo gf/da alot(again i dont have to tell the long delay form gf 2nd swing=killed) and eventualy 3 shots pola (that meens again the recharge dealy =killed easyly).
But again if u dont know the shield cancel, how to dodge and if you didnt lurned the correct timeing to hit someone u cant do too much.
A experimented player would know How and When to use Correct weapons. They eventualy use polaris +sword so when the enemy dodge and come to you u get the correct Timeing to hit him and kill with a double swing gf.
A experimented player would know how to ambush with gf so he get easy kills.
A experimented player would know how to fast shield cancel with ff maybe circleing the enemy(very effective on guards to breake shield and gf to finish jobe).
A experimented player would know When to switch from ff to gf and vice versa.
I dont say good gear dont boost your performance in ld...but rly guys it would bost to A point ...form there skill is needed.
Maybe it boost to like +5kdmg(reffering just about dmg) but a experimentat player would have it increesed up to 20-30kdmg.There is a very high difference.
And again if OOO let weapons and armoors have UV then it meens its totaly legit and it is not going to change just becose YOU think ppl with good gear is noob ....so DEAL WITH IT. Be better ,prove that ur much more skilled than a good geared "clone",get more than him.
....
And after some time get urself good gear and be called noob from a guy that was like you a while ago >.>...
@Han-shot-last:
Sir, you simply have no idea about your claims. They are false, sorry.
Not everyone is able to play well with "clone gear" in fact, Most clones are stupid and doesn't know how to use their gear.
So no, the people that wreck you in LD are skilled, and YOU are the one who needs to practice more and stop whining
All this talk about Wolver Clones is making me think about the times I used to play LD...
Truth is, all the people saying gear doesn't matter, are the ones that are running around in Skolver Pierce MAX with ASI VH FF's that like to brag about their almighty "20K" damage. Granted, skill does help them get that, but you don't see any of them throwing on Cobalt and a Levi Blade to prove it.
There are ppl that actually do this ..and its fun..but most of them just dont whant...but that dosent meen gear make u better..for example i didnt played form 2 months and after i finnaly get on play in 1st week with chaos set (lvl 5 or lower dont remeber) ff asi med gf asi med and storm got 32k dmg ...so ur argument is invalid
I luv my ancient.
Weps... Since I'm AT free and always have 250 ping, I only use wide range weapons. Besides.. I've been using the same weps since the begining of LD.... so... How can I be a clone???.. A clone of myself???
Skill... There's no skill in LD... As long OOO aim for the players, we just can't talk about skill in LD.
I had my Wolver loadout long before LD was a thing. Does that make me not a clone, too?
Is not the same as the 3 main weapons of LD in all the weapons universe.
I used to have UV less FF, DA and pola, skolver cap and the same ancient I wear now, with that set I got my first 40k's.

We should have a Shock biohazard or a freeze one ...
Actualy, yes.
"Wolver Clone" does not just refer to people playing lockdown, it refers to everyone who wears Wolver. Its not necessarily a bad thing (as OOO decided to make one armor path far superior to any others), but it is usually used by people who like to think outside Min/Maxing and effectively use weapons and armor that are not as common.
It doesn't require any skill (unless you're using something other than clone loadout).
